Unusual trends we are currently seeing this week.... Hotels a) Rates for a particular weekend are sometimes decent one moment and then suddenly change dramatically with a big hit upward. The rate disparities between our sources for the same hotels are widening. The one-rate moments of early this month across the board and no longer here. So dont assume the first rate you see is the cheapest. You might find even cheaper. Air a) Air is not pulling a 14 day advance as it was earlier this month. You can now get fares as low as $99 for the week in which you are traveling (LAX-LAS) Air is starting to fluctuate like hotels, pulling back on off days. We see a pull back from the 200s for a Saturday travel this week to a $99 travel this Sunday. Packages Packages, while available last minute, might seem reasonable. However, when you do the math, most packages give you a double hit on the room after the first person. You'll see a hotel+air package that seems good. Only problem, your companion has to book the same hotel+air to sometimes lock in that lower air. The solution - try to see if one of you can do a pacakge and the other can get the same flight as a flight-only purchase.
