  5. LALate publishes three online nationally syndicated and branded charts that help rank parties in LA: a) the "LALate 7-Day Planner Chart", which charts the single best party for each day of the week; the "LALate Hot @ 9 Chart", which ranks additional hot parties each night; and c) the new "LALate New2Watch Chart", which charts parties from less talked about venues and nights that may be the next great hot spot and need to be watched. Every week we have nearly four dozen events on our calendar on lalate.com for you to attend. Our 7-Day Planner, the most talked about event planner in LA, takes the best of those parties and chooses which one venue you should party at each night. Visiting from his weekly residency in Liverpool, Danny stops by the left coast to bring us an unexpectedly eclectic mix of classic electro, punk, funk, garage, trash, and even classic pop. Never one to stand idly by while others put him or his band into boxes, Danny is likely to mix it up with unexpected tracks, analog tunes, and enough beats to keep this intimate show pulsing nonstop. For fans, this is a great opportunity to hear the tunes that inspire Ladytron's mastermind and songwriter. For everyone else, it's a good chance to dance, dance, dance. 9. Well, "Together as One", a music spectacular at the Sports Arena, for LALate, turned out to be arguably not just the best NYE LA party of 03 but perhaps one of the best NYE parties ever, hands down. This party blew us away. Earlier that week, LALate named the party Winner in the LALate/TeenLate 2nd Annual Best of NYE Awards winning TeenLate Choice for Best NYE Overall Party (Los Angeles) receiving 4.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars in our preview. The event details going into the event were the following: Time: 8 pm to 4 am Ages: all ages Price: $40 pre sale, 75 presale include free vodka drinks, separate entrance, access to the backstage VIP area, free VODKA drinkS , an exclusive BACKSTAGE wristband, and free giveaways LALate showed up at the LA Sports Arena quite late at approximately 11:30 pm. Our $40 presale tickets were ready in 10 seconds, no line, at will call, and our 2 friends paid and got there $40 tickets just as fast as us. Into the Sports Arena we went. In your life, you experience few visual sensory overloud experiences that are so overwhelming that you are left speechless by their grandness. Spectaular moments around the world. Stunning seascape panoramas. Well, after entering the Sports Arena, one such experience happened. We grab our drinks, reasonably priced, and walked up the stairs that brings you to the rafters of the Sports Arena looking down on the floor. We walked up the stairs into this darkness and suddenly there it was. The entire Sports Arena blanketed in darkness with people bouncing, lights bouncing, a sea of what seemed like arguably 15 to 20,000 people below you, all having fun. Above them, the dj booth, raised up high, with what seemed like a 40 foot x 40 foot tv screen, several moon-like shapes the size of SUVs hanging from the ceiling. Words can't explain the feeling you experienced. Un-be-lievable. Suddenly, the dj shouted 2 minutes to midnight. Had we arrived that late? The tv screens had started the countdown. Bouncing people. Thumping music. Darkness. Colors. Then suddenly, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and in a heartbeat, a darkened arena was set illuminated with massive exploding white fireworks shooting into the sky, tails of several dozen powerful spray fireworks lighting up the entire arena. Before you could think, people you didn't know came up to on the railing and started hugging you and saying, "Happy New Year, Here's to 2004". One person, another person, and third. Suddenly the reality set in - we've only been here 15 minutes. And we only have four more hours? Four will never be enough to experience this spectacular. And it wasn't. Unlike events across town where people now are complaining they received bad security problems on NYE, the sports arena had the nicest staff you could imagine. One of LALate's friends did a favor and before you knew it, we were in VIP lounge. Free VIP drinks galore, but very weak, access to be literally 10 feet from the stage, a private lounging room. But with only about 200 people out of 20,000 in the VIP area, it wasn't worth $70; we were smart to just get the general admission ticket of $40. So out to the floor we went. So many happy people. Hot people. Some of the hottest people ever seen. All ages, from mid teens to early 40s. There is an old saying in nightlife -- being inclusive as opposed to exclusive makes a better large-scale party. We found ourselves become a rhythm of this heartbeat that was so wonderful. Time to move and see more. Out the edges, underneath the rafters, in the halls, was this virtual village of sellers' booths. The booths made the vibe even stronger. "Buy this, buy that." And boy, did we buy. They had everything, T-shirts, hats, necklaces, great stuff, great prices. Alright, enough shopping. Off to find these two other rooms. Needless to say, we never found one of them. (Wall maps were needed at the event. We defaulted to asked the nice security where everything was.) Into one room we went. What is this? A breakdancing dance-off? No way. One guy stayed on his head for what seemed at least 5 minutes stationary as his legs went from New York to LA and back again. Another DJ to our right? Yes. What's that necklace someone is wearing to my right? "You buy it in the hall." Off to buy something else. Oooh, tacos, churros, for NYE, and cheap? Amazing. Time to dance more. And dance and dance. Oh, no, my left ear plug fell out. I have an extra one. (Ear plugs were only needed in one spot. Overall, sound levels were fine.) Suddenly, it's 4 am. Time to leave. What? Private invitation to another after after party from the same organizers. Darn, does the party really have to stop? Now, being several days later, have sorted through all the experiences that night, here's final thoughts. Clubgoers - Doing an arena-size music/dance spectacular is the best bet. The vibe is so wonderful. Go with people like you that want to become part of the vibe and dance all night. Tickets - Buy the cheapest ticket, and early. Imagine tickets for this event at one point were only $30. Promoters - Listen up. Please, please consider doing a 2 or 3 day NYE spectacular like this. Start it on 12/31 and repeat it the next two nights. Have us come back the next day for round 2, then round 3. We wanted to dance so much more, listen so much more. But it was over, sadly. Finally, good news. Do you like what you read? LALate in 2003 had more warehouse private parties like this, just smaller capacity, than you can imagine. In 2004 get ready for more warehouse parties and yes, full size arena parties. First one is just weeks away. You've read the review. Now experience it yourself, at one address: www.lalate.com
  10. All that matters is that you had a great New Years, whether at home with friends, family, or pets. But if you want to hear what we think was the finest party in LA for NYE, we'll be spilling the details right here later today. It was one of our 2nd Annual LALate Best of NYE Picks and it was just incredible for us and a mere (estimated) 20,000 other friends that showed up (yes 20,000). Review coming later today. Happy New Years Everyone! LALate

  13. We wish you and yours a safe and happy New Year tomorrow night. Many presale tickets have step-up-rates throughout the days leading up to the event. Also, be sure you read presale instructions. Many transaction companies require you to bring your processing credit card to the door for verification. LALate's Charts will return next week. In the meantime, all current promotions from last week remain consistent from Thursday to Monday. Happy New Year. And see you in 04 Your LALate.com

  18. For Immediate Press Release LALate.com | NY Late.com | TeenLate.com info@lalate.com LALate Announces 2nd Annual Best of NYE Picks Top Parties for NYE in LA, NY, and for Teens DECEMBER 26, 2003 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. NEW YORK, NEW YORK. Not sure where to party on New Year's Eve? Websites LALate.com, TeenLate.com, and NY Late.com announced today its "2nd Annual Best of NYE Awards" in which it names its picks for top parties to ring in the New Year in Los Angeles, New York, and for Teens. To render its decision for its Best of NYE Awards, LALate, NY Late, and TeenLae reviewed several hundred party notices over a four week period, ranging in price from five dollars to several hundred dollars. "In our selection, we considered five factors in order of importance. "(1) First, we looked at the venue for the party. On NYE, people want to party either at a top venue or a unique venue that says "sexy". Massive event parties on pavement with tents may attract people drawn to the dj lineup but can lack sexiness. Similarly, it's one thing not to wear a tuxedo on New Year's but it's another to wear a bikini to a foam party. And finally, parties that feature a circus act of performers may feel more Halloween and less New Year's. "(2) Second, we looked at the offerings for the party. Does the event have an open bar? Or food? What type of food? "(3) Finally, we looked at price. People don't want to go to the same venue from any other night and pay nearly ten times the price for nothing but a champagne toast at the stroke of midnight. NYE tickets shouldn't cost more than $100 per person." A Look Back at Last Year's Winners Last year's LALate/NY Late Best of NYE Awards went to the following events in Los Angeles and New York: Los Angeles 1. The LALate Awards name the top in LA nightlifestyle in 2003 from music to venues to parties. LALate.com, the most successful company on nightlifestyle in LA, with spinoff sites NY Late.com and TeenLate.com, is the preeminent authority on nightlifestyle with one of the fastest growing followings of clubgoers in the United States. In a word, as Zagat's is to restaurants and Frodor's is to travelling, LALate is to nightlifestyle. LALate is the first ever one-stop websites for residents and travelers to LA to get into the most exclusive VIP-only parties listing several dozen events sometimes per night featuring top A+ celebrities, from mansion parties to top LA venues, to secret thousand person warehouse parties with acts that rival major stadium performances. With one of the largest memberships of clubgoers in Los Angeles, LALate has built its nationally reported success upon the happiness its service brings its patrons night after night, publishing the most talked about weekly newsletter in Los Angeles. LALate is featured in this week's Los Angeles Times. From its launch, LALate began publishing to its readers a weekly and often bi and tri-weekly newsletter providing details never before seen in the nightlifestyle scene. But with so many events, nearly four dozen events on its calendar per week, LALate reduces in its newsletter those events to three of the most talked about charts in LA nightlifestyle: its online nationally syndicated and branded "LALate 7-Day Planner Chart" and "LALate Hot @ 9 Chart" and "LALate New2Watch Chart", giving up to the minute information about what's hot and what's not. Today's LALate Best of LA 2003 names the best in nightlifestyle in LA in 2003 out of an estimated 2,000 parties carried by LALate throughout the year. The Awards give nods not just to venues but also to events, music, clothing and automobiles that topped nightlifestyle in LA in 2003. About LALate With a market saturation of readers estimated at over 85% of VIP clubgoers in Los Angeles, more LA residents look to LALate for its opinion on nightlifestyle than any other authority. LALate's newsletter recently celebrated its 100 edition. LALate's newsletter doesn't just review the crowd at the venue, it reviews the decore, the floorplan, the door operations, and that was just the beginning. Many have acclaimed LALate as "the Martha Stewart of the bling bling". "Ironically, nightlifestyle is a look a feel that is anything but bling bling; it is captured and embodied by the people who live it, from Hollywood A list executives to up-in-coming performance artists. Whether it's an unusual hat worn by a guy or a certain boot worn by a girl, it's a look and feel that represents an otherwise very intelligent crowd that knows what they like and know how to do it right," says LALate.com. In 2003 LALate covered trends in nightlife fashion, featuring clothing line Von Dutch months before its recent height in LA popularity; automobiles, featuring the Porsche Cayenne months before it ever arrived in U.S. showrooms. LALate, in short, quickly gained in popularity by having a keen eye to not only report, but also predict, trends in nightlifestyle, constantly endeavoring to capture trends, not fads, reporting on everything from Ralph Lauren accessories to men's cologne. "We didn't just tell you what went on in White Lotus; we told you how people looked, dressed, what they drove. And what readers loved is how we reported from a mass cross section of venues, from red carpet warehouse parties in the dark empty streets of Downtown LA to A+ venues in Beverly Hills, to present everything that is bursting to the forefront, not just in one scene, but across the nightlifestyle arena", says LALate.com. Through 2003, LALate had an unmatched entry to LA's exclusive nightlife, for example carrying first number one venue White Lotus Tuesdays through Thursdays and now carrying Lotus' successor for the number one spot, Pearl, Wednesdays through Saturdays.
