he is under contract over there...... ms by the way is an awesome dj... space should try and get him for a progressive flavor.

Don't want to get into any kind of debate ... you are right Saleen ... Markus is Maze's resident in the Funktion One Room (main floor) ... he was there last Friday ...

P:M Sessions holds a residency every Friday at Maze ... once a month in the Funktion One Room ... three Fridays a month in its real home ... The Room ...

This Friday P:M Sessions starts their Fridays in The Room (2nd floor room which also hosts the weekly Aquabooty party on Saturdays) ... P:M Sessions residents are Chris Duque and Mono Henao ... two upcoming DJs who will make some serious noise this year ...

Markus is an excellent DJ ... we should all support him in developing his Friday nites at Maze ... his progressive house is serious ... he has all the respect and backing by the venue ...

Markus' nite is starting to take off the way it always should had ... this Friday I'm sure we will see a pretty full main floor ... good things take time to develop ... Friday nites at Maze are no exception ...

Come down and support Markus ... his music suits that room like few can ... and when you feel it's time ... swing by the second floor and listen to Chris and Mono ... you guys will have them among your favs ... I'm sure ... :hat:

There's nothing like a good BBQ IMO ... good stuff

Digital ... it is the longest runnig party ... I remember when they had it at the place where Sports Cafe (6th and Was) is now ... was soooo long ago that forgot how the place was called ... it was in the good old days when DJ Burrito would pack La Covacha ... ... haven't been to it in years thou ...

Second longest running party I believe is Back Door Bambi ...

Regardless of the music formatt ... we have to admire their massive consistency over the years ... :hat:

  5. Demi ... I can assure you 99% of the crowd was sold last Friday ...

Good luck this Saturday for the opening nite of Deeper Substance at Thirteen ... Alex ... you ... and James Zabiela ... I only wished I could be there :( ...

Can't wait for Conference! ... should be massive ...

    I'll share w/U a review featured in www.cooljunkie.com ... enjoy!

    ________________________________________________

    You normally only get visuals

    from him, but our star

    photographer Dan Vidal checks in

    with a review of Demi's

    appearance at Maze...

    Friday wasn't looking too good.

    Freezing cold temperatures, and a

minor case of congestion had me

    feeling a bit rotten.

Despite this, I was going to go to

    the much-anticipated premiere of

the Phat Music Sessions in their

    new home at Maze.

One of two major parties making

their debut at Maze this weekend,

    Phat Music Sessions, by local

    scenester and all-around good

guy Marco D., brings in fresh

talent from overseas, as well as

    two promising residents, Chris

    Duque and Francisco "Mono"

    Henao.

The last PM Session made waves

    at Reserved when up-and-coming

DJ (and Danny T's "favorite Greek

boy") Demi kept a crowd of 200

    people dancing from open till

    close on a Thursday night.

Eager to see what he could do

with a Friday night at the most

    technologically advanced club in

Miami, Maze and the PM crew

booked Demi for an encore set.

Chris and Mono started the night

    off well, delivering a funky

    progressive sound to the

    already-building crowd. Watch out

for these guys, 2003's their year.

    Around midnight the usual

suspects showed up to take in

    the sights, including CJ

    contributor Daniel Andrew, GU

    messageboard honcho James

Sheridan, and the rest of the "CP

    Mafia".

Trusty Pentax in hand, I did the

    obligatory round of photos while

    everyone was sober, and wormed

    up to the DJ booth.

Mono's on the decks, handling the

    unfamiliar X:one V6 mixer

    flawlessly, and Level's Jorge

    Tellez is taking Maze's impressive

    lighting array through it's paces.

    Around that time, marketing and

VIP director Carla comes up with

Marco and the hero of the evening

    Demi.

    Sporting my blue Deeper

    Substance shirt, Demi eagerly

    greeted this photographer, and

proceeded to get settled into the

    booth.

By then the crowd had swelled,

    with the dancefloor already

moving when Demi took to the

    decks.

Expecting a soulful set like I had

    experienced at the last Deeper

    Substance party, I was surprised

when Demi came out of the gates

with a mix of progressive and

tech tracks, clearly playing for the

    room, and the massive Funktion

    One sound system.

The crowd ate it up, track after

    track of energy spewing forth

from the cabinets. Maze had on

    it's hands the most successful

    Friday since their opening.

By then, word had spread of the

    event. Local scenesters began to

    show up, including Carmel Ophir,

    Roly Aspuru (engineer of Maze's

    amazing sound system), Biz

    Martinez, and upcoming star DJ

    Roland.

The true surprise visit was from

DJ Erick Morillo, who is reportedly

    quite impressed with the venue.

Take it for whatever you want,

but I'll go on record as saying

Erick would do well to play Maze.

Demi clearly knew how to work

    the crowd, keeping pretty much

    everyone glued to the dancefloor

    until closing time, and even

    beyond!

For sure, this is the party to

    watch in 2003. Combining

    stunning resident and guest DJs,

    a spectacular venue, an amazing

    visual element, and a quality

crowd, PM Sessions and Maze are

a new force to be reckoned with

    in Miami nightlife.

see, you guys don't hear all the bs and mistakes, you guys are too content with your music here in miami. He made at least 10 major mistakes. One time it was sooooooooooooo bad i almost said something to him. I don't show up to hear shitty mixing. How often do u hear roland screw up? Not too often, like once a month, now og messes up more, but nothing of the extent of demi. The tracks were horrid and it was a bunch of little asian raver kids on the floor, and don't get me started on the way people were dressed. Can we say dirt bags.... The guy is simply a run of the mill dj. MS would have hammered that crowd, but the thing is maze doesn't support his night, they only concentrate on sat nights, so hes left in the cold, but he is just as good as og and roland. The last hour of the set was good, but the first 6 months of it sucked.... Big time.. He is offcialy scatched off my list of djs to go see. Ps very few djs actually get me on the dance floor, and when they do, it means they are good. Demi and his crew simply were lost when it came to building a set. Had very poor crowd sense and once again the flow was horrid. Wait till morillo comes, then you will understand what a NJ northeast dj will do to that place. You will then understand why the northeast djs are much better with exeption of a few djs down here. At one point they played noise and someone should have tossed morillo a couple grand to take over...

just so yous know, i had a blast, the pms party was fun as hell, i didn't go for the music, cause GA sent me some links of his shit, and i knew it wasn't for me, but i'm also aware that i should give it a chance since computer speakers aren't as good as the system at maze... So for pms i give it a big thumbs up, and for the music, i'd stick my balls in a blender then here that stuff again. Let MS do your pms party with jimmy t opening..

I'm glad you had a good time Saleen ... don't know what happened with the drink prices ... e-mail carla@clubmaze.com ... I know P:M Sessions has nothing to do with the bar ...

As to the music ... we don't all have the same musical preferences ... thank god ... two things I can assure you thou ...

    1) There is no compromise with the musical selection ... DJs play what they feel is right to move the crowd to the vibe they want to establish ... the crowd attending wants to be lifted by the music ... from the inside out ...

    2) Demi's set was enjoyed by the crowd ... even in the "darker" journey he set ... only to bring the funk out ... his set was designed to fit a bigger room like the one at Maze ... and still keep his vibe to the fullest ... he did ...

As to the resident DJs ... Chris and Mono ... I will take my hat off ala "DT w/Demi" ... an opening set means warming up the dancefloor ... preparing the groove to peak just for the main DJ to pick up from it ... an opening set should never "steal the show" ...

Chris and Mono will have their main act this coming Friday in The Room ... new DJ booth premiered by DHM and Harvey this past Sat. ... they will bang that room their way ... I know this will be their year ... and Friday will be their first main act of the year ...

Two of the most influential people in the club scene in South Florida were sooooo impressed with Demi ... with the crowd ... with the vibe ...

Knowing we didn't satisfy everyone makes us know we are not perfect ... but came close enough ... it's more fun like that ... no wonder I still own a copy of Johnathan Livingston Seagull ... :hat:

The infamous pool table was still there. :) and the Music was definitely jumpin'. Harvey took over and took us on a intresting journey. I knew we were in for a treat when he dropped that Metro Area track - Muira. He also played another track off a mix cd my good friend Domingo did. Overall a more intresting set then last time. I'm still waiting to hear him like everyone talked about him @ Rain the first time. :) There's always next month though.

Nice to see the entire mafia out in full effect even Cubano Soprano.

Pictures will be up soon by the man known as Tony.

Thanks to Omar for the cd.

Aquabooty and Maze are truly amazing.

    DEEP DOWN IN MIAMI,

    Ramon C.
