  1. www.maestro-documentary.com is the DVD for every fan of EDM to get when its released. Shows you the history of what this music is about, and its a multi disc set with so many great special features. Saw it in the movie theaters 3 times and now i cant wait until its released.
  2. pics look good but i like and agree with what backupqueen,exit24e,jumpstart are talking bout.
  3. dont know about any other night but i know on fri nights its a great place to be at.
  4. hey i do have a very very big heart for the scene indeed, from personal experience and from education thru books ive read as well. And i will admit sometimes my words come out wrong. But i cant help it, seems i do it everywhere in my life, with my g/f ,at work, talking to friends.Hopefully when im 60 i can still dance with a cane or crutches hehe.
  5. we can finally have a real conversation lol.
  6. HERE YOU GO KIDDIES, luckily ive been into hosue music since 1989, thanks in part to my cousin and bro who were djs. Being in an apt with people spinnin music tha you like naturally gives you a curiousity to it. So lil by lil i was taught what djs wee makign ro palyign what. As well as parties them and their friends were goin to i would hear reviews abouta s well. I was also the only kid in junior h.s. hearing house music and carrying mix tapes of it while most people heard hip hop rap. The record collection in my house is about 5000 deep, 2000cds and a shitload of tapes from the 80s n 90s. First club i ever stepped foot into was EXPO in 1995. Jp productions were good stuff even my bro played them as well. As for morales and other dj/producer who i know about comes thru my education in my house. So this is why i tell ya ive been a fan of house music for 15yrs not that ive gone to clubs for 15yrs dont be mistaken.
  7. sadly i hear it was terrible by peeps that i hang and dance with.
  8. But i will say personally not a fan of him at all anymore since 98, but will say he does deserve credit not as an international worldwide legend. But just a local NYC dj whose crowd was from the outer boroughs and were faithful devotees.
  9. well a few weeks ago for the tsunami party at spirit i was told that the owners of spirit couldnt wait for jp to get out of there no matter what it took.
  10. Will disagree with you there dan. TIMMY REGISFORD has his faithful followers from all over the world at SHELTER sat nights sunday mornings for 14 YRS now.
  11. Will be opening and closing DANNY T at crobar.
  12. welcome to the boards wut DJS are you into, personally my tastes are: DANNY TENAGLIA, TIMMY REGISFORD, DANNY KRIVIT, JOE CLAUSSELL, FRANCIOS K, ROGER SANCHEZ, HECTOR ROMERO, TEDD PATTERSON, WILLIE GRAFF, DJ VIBE, CHUS N CEBLLOS, MARQUESS WYATT, MIGUEL MIGS, TODD TERRY, DJ DISCIPLE, (WAS INTO) ERICK MORILLO(BUT HIS STYE HAS CHANGED RECENTLY IN NYC),CARL COX, CHRSTIAN SMITH, JASON JOLLINS, RICK CORBO, MIDNIGHT SOCIETY, LOUIE VEGA, BLAZE,ROBERT OWENS, MARSHALL JEFFERSON, DAVID MANCUSO, NICKY SIANO, DERRICK CARTER, MARK FARINA, DERRICK MAY, LOW END SPECIALIST,CHRIS N KAI, SANDER K, TONY HUMPHRIES, DJ HARVEY, NEIL ALINE, TERRY HUNTER, LARRY LEVAN, FRANKIE KNUCKLES, JUNIOR VASQUEZ, DAVID MORALES, BEHROUZ, DANNY HOWELLS , STEVE LAWLER, STEVE PORTER and i could keep goin on n on. But you should get an idea of who and what style of music im into. Usually if these DJS are playing in NYC i tend to be there.
  13. Ive yet to be there but EVERYBODY all over the world says that STEREO is the best CLUB for EVERYTHING, music, crowd, vibe, soundsystem. Cant wait.
  14. just a few more hrs away. This along wth KASKADE n COLLETE at CANAL ROOM, and DENNY TESETTOS at SPIRIT and BLUESKY THURS at SIN SIN shows that thurs has a lil something for everyone that wants to party tonite.Have fun everyone.
  15. eliseo is one of the best dancers i know, good to hear that the class has gone well and people had a great time. Will stop in shortly to just hang out with some of ya.
  16. The basis of confuson i think has to dowith older fans of morales n dance/house music from the late 70s to mid 90s and the new fans of EDM who have only gotten intoit since like 99 or something like that. DAVID MORALES is legend and WILL ALWAYS be respected around the world no matter what. The problem with him is his style has changed of spinning in NYC. Hearing his show on fri nights are a pleasure nothing wut he plays at a club lately though. NYC has this reputation now of ONLY HARD TRIBAL DARK BEATS. Which is why certain djs from nyc whenthey come back play dfferently then they would around the world, exs: morales, morillo. David has abandon his style that gave him so manyfans in NYC, point in case the last time i heard him at crobar i met a few eope who have been around since the paradise garage and since i had my shirt on it was natural to make conversation. They were like "WOW whats happen to this guy hes not the same dj who played at SHELTER in 2002, hes playing for that guido fist pump crowd that only knows BEATS but has no SOUL cause they need drugs tomove. And if he were to play likethat at the garage he knows that he would be boooed until he changed his style again" So i told her that hey ive been a fan of morales myself since 1990 and when i heard him he very first time he seemed in the transition period then his sets at spirit and crobar he has abandon is deep house soulful/discoy vocals(and when imean vocals i dont mean stupid ktu type of jp of vocals, i mean VOCALS from WOMEN who can sing from their soul) and now in NYC he is playing that harder edgier somehwat commercial soud. And its not goin good at the moment cause hes alienating his real fans. While new fans o to the music wanna hear there stupid pots n pans hard shit. And since hes not really into that completely hes not making them new fans. I also wonder what his set ws like at disco, but nobody iknow seems to know. And i dont mean disrespect to richie santana who from what i hear is a great dj (neverheard him live though) but who ever said that comment about him playing abetter set than MORALES on any night, shows the lack of knowledge i the house scene and i guess experience. From what ive read on this board though i will agree that his set at deko sounds like was a terrible terrible thing.
  17. victor did play a few parties at crobar until the after hrs issue came about. As for the guy with the tattoo maybe it stands for Sick Fuck.
  18. goin to a ballet show for a few hrs with the g/f, but might stop in for a few. Thanks for the heads up.
  19. well i work on sat n suns and go ut fri n sats straihgt to work no sleep or maybe about 90mins at my desk. During the week when i worked 45 hr a week i use to only go out 3 times a week and try to sneak in naps anychance i get. Also somtimes good way torcover is to rest 2 days straight if possible or one good one. So it is very possible.
  20. thansk for the advice. But sometimes its good to revist old parties/djs that you use to go to.
  21. the original SOUNDFACTORY space has been open for yrs since it closed, it was called TWILO b4 and now its called SPIRIT. And give the girl a break shes new to this board i think so.She might not have read all the other threads bout it. Im sure we all have ask qustions that have been asked 1000s of times b4 we asked them as well.
  22. TRIBAL has been popular in NYC since the early 90s with junior vasquez and even wayyyyyyyyy b4 that if you were to listen to some older classics b4 the name TRIBAL was attached to it. Boris doesnt excite me personally but he has his fans so there happy. Nothing special bout him for my ears, same beats typical hard tribal beats. No soul.
  23. dont know about that date but this thur CIELO will be hot with MARQUES WYATT bringin that west coast funky sexy house beats. The 10th or 17th CARL COX will be at crobar brining his brand of techy beats.Sorry cant remember the exact date now though.
