Disco...I expected you to be there!!! Anyway, got inside around 2am...the line outside was down the block...omg...I wouldn't have waited 2 hours in that. Sasha was droppin those nice dark heavy proggy chill beats I LOVE. The floor was so packed I had to hang out on the stairs for a little bit and watch the crowd below. It was just a thick sea of people movin up & down. I loved those giant round white balls hangin from the ceiling... and the projections on them & the screens were really nice, smooth, and dynamic. Finally went downstairs to the floor and walked around to the front of the stage, then Lavelle came on and spun what-was-it... ROCK N ROLL crap??? LOL... total disruption in Sasha's nice prog flow... omg, it was awful... I'm sorry, but I didn't like Lavelle at all... but he redeemed himself when he brought back the prog though. I think he would have made a better opening DJ because he totally messed up what Sasha started. Ackhhh... I still had fun hangin out with some crazy people I met... we were jumpin around throwing those lil 1 inch glow sticks all over the place...hehe... the area of the floor we were standing in was littered with those tiny glow sticks Oh, and the breaks were great to hear. Was in the middle of the floor when the balloons dropped. It wasn’t some cheezy balloon drop either… it was a LOT of fun! lol… standing there looking up into the bright lights and seein dozens of black balloons poppin up from the crowd for a good 15 mins put a grin on my face Rest of the night was nice… when Bigtop-Sub came on, I jumped up and got the boogie on again…

I don't care too toooo much about the weakness or ugliness of a crowd...it's just that the venue is too small for such a big DJ And ya can't see the dj when you're getting down on the floor if he's up in the booth. Maybe they'll have him on the stage (and take up more precious space). Anyway, it's a moot point...he's already booked and I'm lookin like a whiner... bleh.... i'm sure it'll still be fun maybe!

Thanks for the info MASK. um...I don't think it'll deter "violent people" from going out... but maybe just deter people from bringing guns, knives, razors, box cutters, shotguns, rifles, nail files, nail clippers, scissors, tazers, explosives, back scratchers, and nun-chucks to the clubs...

Not to sound all negative and crap, but I wouldn't put it past them... or any loon here that's gone psycho and wants to wreak havoc like those lil high schoolers did...or any gangstah that's gone mad and wants to go prove something... it'll be a sad day if clubs decided to put up detectors, especially since it seems unheard of in NYC, but hey, yeah, safety is safety. The detectors @ Dream really aren't as disconcerting as you'd think...the club is really beautiful...4 big floors with a nice clientele Even my old high school recently put up video cameras all over the place and fenced in the school...and it's in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood! If I were a parent, I'd rather the school my kid goes to have some safety measures like that then a school with nothing. But I am NOT sayin we need video cams at clubs...that's too much... Hmm...otherwise, instead of metal detectors, we can have everyone in line strip nekkid, given the look-over, re-dress, and get herded in...

Not sure how you can tell which club "caters" to that sort of crowd or how they would cater to them in the first place, but metal detectors would be better than doorfolks who search inconsistently or not at all. If I kept hearin about violence (outside of the occassional floor scuffles) at a certain spot, I'd prolly stop going to that club too though.

Clubs should use the walk-thru metal detectors at the door like Dream in DC has. It might look like overkill, but at least it gets the message across... it'd make people feel more at ease too... not that I go out all nervous...
