  1. I COMPLETELY agree. I probably would have went to this party until I saw the stupidity and maturity level of the promoters. I figure, if the promoters are whiny catty 14 year olds, what kind of crowd would they bring in? Definitely not my kinda crowd.
  2. I had to go up for air 3 times while reading it.
  3. Next law is that you won't be allowed to drink alcohol in your house. Since I don't drink much, I guess I wouldn't mind. nice logic.
  4. according to the website, it says nov 12 in boston, nov 15 in miami. On the reflections tour dates it says nov 12 nyc hammerstein ballroom, nov 13 in boston, nov 14th in chicago and nov 15th in miami. That means the only thing that is consistent is the miami date. everything else is just screwed up.
  5. You accuse the news of implying that he died another way when no one really knows how he died. But in another breath you assume that he died of a heart condition. The truth of the matter is, it is publicly unknown how he died. Maybe his heart, maybe his heart reacting to drugs, or maybe just drugs. Either go one way or the other. You can't play both sides. It makes you sound like a hippocrite who doesn't have a point. Unless you know something we all don't know, I'd keep to the facts and not blurt out that he died of a heart condition when it could have been a whole host of reasons why he died. Then you go even further and blast CP for the article when it wasn't even their article. I see a pattern of not checking the facts on your part, which is EXACTLY what you are blaming the media of doing. If I were you, I'd follow your own advice before publicly blasting an organization again.
  6. Err...where is Club Deep? For the uninformed, it could be in Zimbabwe for all we know. Also, Oct 12th is a Sunday. Interesting choice of dates if this is true.
  7. Yeah some dj's do that a lot but PvD is usually pretty good about it.
  8. That sounds about right. When Sasha did a wednesday, it was 1am-4am.
  9. 6 hours on a wednesday night? I doubt it but who knows.
  10. PUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! lalalandnyc13 needs to get a grip. Calm down man. Go easy on the drugs.
  11. over a thousand ppl showed up for Sasha on a wednesday and the vibe was awesome.
  12. That is one hot lineup coming up... Nick Warren Dave Seaman James Zabiela
  13. I guess it all depends on what you define as "best". It's not like we have stats we can track as in sports players. But common sense would make it the amount of ppl that go to see a dj specifically, day in and day out, year after year, all over the world would put a DJ up in the running for being the best at what they do. I know many fall into this category in the world, but DT and until Earth died, Junior Vasquez, would fit into this category for NYC. Hell, I don't even like DT's music but I can recognize he is one of the best worldwide for the genre. I know there's a lot of great DJ's here in NYC, but I wouldn't be able to classify the DJ who spins in his basement to 12 of his friends as someone who would be recognized as such no matter how much skill he/she has (not to say any of the names you mentioned are in this category).
  14. I thought he meant at this moment, not throughout history. If he did, then you are right...there's a whole mess of DJ's with various styles that JV wouldn't be able to touch. I mean, if ppl like JV, that's fine, I like him at times too.
  15. Errr...Danny Tenaglia. He's the only person to have successfully keep a party going for years. JV had his chance when the Roxy was renovated and he was the resident. He failed to keep the party going. In fact, I'm sure we can pull a whole mess of threads from this board around that time where a whole bunch of you were complaining how cheesy JV was and how he should be replaced. I think there are 3 types of DJ's. 1) A DJ who plays popular tracks that everyone knows. Those that play the big hits from the radio. They are typically shunned by the music community but loved by the radio kids. 2) The pseudo underground DJ that really doesn't have his own sound so plays the underground hits after it is proven the track is successful by other DJs. It's rare to hear something new from them. They keep themselves and the crowd going by pumping out hit after hit. These types of DJ's usually do well for the mass population but there types of DJ's are also a dime a dozen. 3) Genre benders who consistently introduce new tracks that become popular due to them introducing it to the genre. These types have a specific "sound" to them, sometimes making it hard to draw a larger crowd. Few are successful in this category but those who succeed reap great rewards (think PvD, AvB, Sasha, etc). JV is in category 2. But I also admit, he's very good for that category.
  16. buredf, yes, the dance scene could use some help. but these things are cyclical and they evolve. i support what i like and give my opinions on things that i dislike. i wish more ppl would do the same such that when the scene comes back around, we only get back the good stuff. if we simply accept any night as a good night, just for the sake of saving a dying scene, then we're in for a whole mess of shitty nights that make up the scene. do you remember techno from the 80's? It exploded in the states. Clubs like limelight were PACKED every night. Then it faded and died. Then trance start getting bigger in the mid to late 90's. It's starting to die now. The next big thing will replace it and the scene will go on. It's only our input, both good and bad, that will bring us the next iteration the way we want it. So, you can sit here and say everything is awesome even if its not, or have your say in what comes next. I choose the latter....unlike bozer, the loser without a brain.
  17. oh come on now... person A goes to see movie A person B goes to see movie A person A thinks the movie was great person B thinks the movie sucked both person A and person B are movie critics for a major newspaper. Tell me, do you only want to hear about person A's experience when you are thinking about watching movie A and paying the $10 bucks it costs? hells no. I wanna hear the whole story. I wanna hear the perspective of both person A and person B. It's very simple. And to make another point, I was the one who said I like the first 2 hours because of my reasons, then said the 3rd hour pretty much sucked and the 4th hour was subpar making it out to be a mediocre set. sue me for being honest. I'm not gonna pump my fists in the air for a mediocre set just because the "scene" is dying. If a night that contributed to the "scene" was mediocre, only by saying it was mediocre can we expect things to get better. It was that friggin TOOL bozer who jumped on my case for having an opinion. Go bark up his tree. And to top it off, it was very cool that it was outdoors. I think it really elevated the experience. But I'm not gonna get my panties in a bunch if someone disagrees with me on that unlike some ppl on this board *cough* bozer. yeah...bozer the lozer
  18. That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time, right down there with the loser bozer. If we as a people have nothing to complain about, then nothing would ever improve. You and your flower sniffing asshole supporters are the type of people that if they were in a country run by tyrants that gave you no rights and killed your family would say "instead of looking at the bad, be happy that you are alive and don't complain!". You are a fucking tool. There are two sides to everything. There is some good and some bad. It's just the way it works. Expressing joy for the good and disdain for the bad is the BEST way to review something. It makes your review objective. We all have brains. Try using yours.
  19. Um...next weekend will be mid september. The week after that would be late september. Are you guys going to promote the place at 10pm the night it opens? Good luck.
  20. nice comeback. your baboon-like wit is amazing. You can have a banana now.
  21. I guess they open for special occasions. They opened for Sasha's CD release party on a wednesday and it was PACKED.
  22. Get off your high horse and learn to read a full thread. I know its a little above the 3rd grade reading level you accomplished but if you practice reading, it will soon come to you. I said I thought his first 2 hours was pretty good that his last hours sucked but that his overall set was mediocre.I have my opinions, you have yours. So you can quit having your hissy fit sitting while in front of your computer just because someone disagreed with you. You are the only person who's hatin'. Bringing up words like "hatorade" and whatnot. Don't bother crying to me, go cry to your momma....but only once I'm done with her. And once you are done doing that, go get a life because it is awfully apparent you don't have one.
  23. So are a bunch of other DJ's. It doesn't mean half his set should contain tracks from 1999. To each his own. If yur still into the stuff from the last millenia then thats fine by me. Whatever gets you off. The 3rd hour was the weakest stuff I've heard a professional DJ play in a long time. He was all over the place. He was letting tracks finish until there were only soft beats, then intro'd the next song with another set of soft beats. Simply no flow. I could tell even PVD was bored.
  24. the first 2 hours was pretty good. Energetic and a lot of happy trance music. His last 2 hours pretty much sucked. I've never missed in a NYC PVD event in 4 years and out of all of the ones I've heard, I'd say that more than half in the past was better. So basically below average. He spend his 3rd hour trying to find a groove. It seemed like every track he played and mixed was wrong and there was no flow. I think he kinda sensed that the energy level was dwindling because he rushed a mix into As The Rush Comes knowing it would get a reaction. I dunno, it was cool cuz it was outdoors and the weather was good, but that was far from the best PVD has to offer. But I still had a good time. Although when he played "For An Angel" and a WHOLE BUNCH of 1999 trance, I pretty much felt like going home.
