  1. They'll do what we had to do last year: pay $20 for some twit to hold our bag with our camera in it. Can you say "cha-CHING"?
  2. The fire marshalls will be out in force, just like last year. So if the club is at capacity, you're screwed and you're waiting in a looong line, regardless of having a ticket or a pass. Get there early if you really want to be sure you'll get in.
  3. ALL the acts will be there in person. DJ sets are just that, playing records. LIVE means that they are actually playing instruments, working sequencers, synths, singing, etc. So yes, I know it is hard to believe that ALL those people will be at Ultra, but BELIEVE IT. Last year was just insane so this year is going to be...I dunno, "insane + 1".
  4. So are they going to let in people with cameras in their cell phones? It just seems so dumb to say "you can't bring in a camera...unless it's in a certain plastic shape".
  5. Pretty much all the clubs are going to be very packed, that's just the price to be paid for having all the biggest people in town for 5 days. I'm sure Nikki Beach will be fun, but I can't pass up 5 hours of PVD @ Space on Friday night!
  6. I'd be interested to learn who invented this statistic. As long as we're making stuff up, why not just say 95%?
  7. Any good word on this? I would really like to be able to take pictures and not have to worry about someone making me pay $20 for some stand to hold my camera again!
  8. Is there any official word on whether digital cameras will be allowed into Ultra this year? Cottencandydream?
  9. Ultra tickets are indeed $55 right now at Groovetickets.com, anyone can go and buy one right now. Yes the camera thing was annoying as hell. But other than that I had a great time. Only a couple of DJ's didn't show up and first, that's not Ultra's fault it's the dumbass DJ's fault. And second, the people I really want to see (and that I think most people really want to see) like PVD, The Chemical Brothers, Oakenfold, Tiesto, Sasha, Digweed, Rabbit in the Moon, Ferry Corsten etc. are absolutely going to be there. Just for them alone I'd pay way more than $55 to see. Everything else is just gravy to me. So yes, I suppose if you think that list of big names isn't worth $55 then Ultra may not be your cup of tea. I think most people would say $55 to see that list of performers is a downright bargain.
  10. If you want to be sure you get in, yes. Even Space only holds like 3000 people or something...sellouts are practically guaranteed, so either buy your tix now or get to the venue really early.
  11. I doubt that the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal would take kindly to such statements!
  12. I agree with eastcoastbabe, and I'll go further. Ultra was awesome. I worship Underworld and any chance to see them is worth just about any amount of hardship. The vibe at Ultra was really great and everyone I saw was superb. I didn't see Oakey and Tiesto at Space so I can't comment on the duplication of sets, but this year I doubt such a thing could happen. The sets at Ultra are only about 2 hours, but the sets at Space are 4 or 5 hours, so there's no way you'll hear the exact same set. And as for money, I can't possibly imagine a better use of $55 than to see a lineup like they get at Ultra. That's nothing, good lord folks a ticket to see any band in concert nowadays is $40 or $50. At Ultra at least you get 10+ hours of ass kicking techno and trance in a great outdoor atmosphere. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Toothbrush. Deodorant. ID. ATM Card. A towel (just kidding, Hitchhiker's Guide inside joke).
  14. While I agree that sometimes Deep Dish can be hit or miss, last year's Deep Dish set @ Space was fucking great. I figure if they are really going to push for an awesome set it will be at something like this, so you are probably safe. In any event, Danny Howells will be there and he is always great as well.
  15. Well obviously if you don't care for PVD, you probably don't want to stay. I happen to think he's awesome and his closing set last year was killer, much harder and faster than the stuff you hear on his CD's.
  16. No. They'll give you a schedule when you go in. But in general, you can assume the later it is, the "bigger" the DJ's, in all of the tents or stages. But if you have specific people you want to see then you probably want to be there by 2 or 3. You'll just have to read the times and formulate a plan accordingly.
  17. Armin Van Burren and The Crystal Method are at Mansion on Monday, I can't pass that up.
  18. FYI This is a private party, so unless you know someone or are on the list, you're not going to get in.
  19. uhh, of course he's spinning...what would you think he would be doing? http://www.clubspace.com/pop.php?f=popflyers/wmc_sunday_march7.jpg&w=427&h=501
  20. Yes, just show up with your id, credit card, and confirmation. Be ready for a line, 2 am is peak time. But it'll be worth it for a dose of PVD!! See you in there. No cameras are allowed in Space, at all. You may be able to sneak one in, but they explicitly state that cameras are not allowed. So you're bringing one in at your own risk and if caught you run the risk of having it taken away or getting kicked out.
  21. Digicams and cameras are NOT allowed inside. Last year they stopped us at the gate and made us pay 20 fucking dollars to have some stand hold our shit after they searched and found a camera in a backpack. That said I did see lots of people inside with cameras that either they snuck in or had less thorough search people. So you're taking your chances if you try to bring one in. Just FYI.
