I actually went to this last night. Get down there and am surprised to see a small line for this, its oakenfold and last time I saw him a few months back at opium on a monday night the line was bigger. While waiting in line, I get to observe the main bouncer giving attitude to lp as lp is making his way to space telling him "keep walking, thats right, keep walking" I don't know if trying to go in an all out war with space is such a smart move cause while this place may book some good djs time to time, there is no way it'll be able to hold the crowd for afterhours without a terrace. TO me afterhours is all about some good tunes chillin under the sun getting to see the faces of all the women after their makeup has worn out and just chilling and they won't be able to gimme that. After getting in with no problem at all, since my lazy ass did not get advance tickets, $40 which is expected for oakenfold and I don't think anybody can complain about that. Make my way in and first impression is "nice club with a pretty big room and a nice ass projection on the wall." Look around and lots of space and it seems that there is a low turnout, but no biggy the guy that played before oakenfold was throwing down a sick set. Look up in the booth and notice the guy doing the lights, is the guy that usually does the lights in the main room at space (weird). Oakenfold came on around 1:00 and all of sudden the place looked much more packed, I guess there were people just spread out since that room is pretty big, but still don't get me wrong crowd was much thinner then what I expected and if u walked like 30 feet away from where the booth was just big empty space since everybody I guess felt the need to rush towards the booth when oakenfold came on. He played a pretty good set, but saleen based on your previous posts I do not think you gonna enjoy this music, but fear not he only played for about 2 hours. I liked his set, just don't think it was anything too special. THe guy before him though, again I repeat myself but he played amazing. Some amazing looking women there and believe it or not the 18+ did not bring out that much underage people as most people I saw in there, had the over 21 bracelets and the night seemed to have gone pretty well in terms of dealing with underages so giving them a weekly party wouldn't be so bad I think. Now to the important stuff, the lighting is definately not underground and at many times if u think 34 is disney with their lighting, then I don't know what you would call this cause it was much brighter then at space many times, and please I think its greg the light guy's name, dude I've seen you do a great job with the lighting at space, no need to turn on the bright white lights on the crowd everytime the climax of the song comes on so just do the great work your used to doing. Sound is pretty clear, but not loud for me. I don't know if I've been spolied by the sound systems at maze, nerve, and space 34 but pump up the volume. Make me feel that music. Barstaff was very friendly and prices were the same as most places in sobe. All in all with all the negatives you might see in this post, I had a great time just think the club could do better and improve a few things so just giving my honest opinion here. NV looks like it will do much better then most other clubs that opened downtown, but change a few things around and you might even be able to compete with space and then if you want give them the attitude, but for now I don't think its wise to be giving them attitude and going in an all out war with them. On a final note, downtown looks like it will be the place next year with nocturnal coming up and crobar 24. THat would make 4 kickass clubs next to each other, a strip club with some fine ass, and from what I hear a bowling place is opening nearby too, so good stuff there.

great set by everybody that played last night especially demi. Would have been better with more people, but its thursday night and the summer so things in miami are actually pretty dead. Wednesday night I decided to go out, went to life and the turnout was not that much and I thought it was maybe just that but everything else was dead (oxygen,jade, delano, mynt). Last night was the same thing decided to pass by skybar to meet up with a few people and try to get them to nerve, but they were all tired and went home since even that did not have too much people. LAst night and wednesday night basicly everything on the beach was dead so nerve did pretty well considering. Anyways this was about the music and the party so all I gotta say about that is great music, nice to see true music fans, women were looking top notch, and very friendly door (then again its always been friendly with me). Keep up the good work and good luck to pm sessions.

Here's an open letter being sent to many senators in the us aimed at senator dodd for recent comments he made. I know most of you have no idea what in the world is going on in haiti, so in brief this is a letter written last week after a group of individuals went to promote a better haiti in cite soleil (most dangerous area in haiti) and they were attacked by men sent by the haitian government to silence them. Later, the government turned the story around and accused the group of provoking the attacks which is ridiculous, but senator dodd had no idea what was going on over there and spoke out against the 184 organization. Do your homework, senator. copy of letter Senator Dodd, Do you know who the 184 are? Do you know what a Social contract is? Have you read the 184's presentation of a New Social Contract? Asking myself these questions and listening to your remarks on the events of Saturday July 12th in Cite Soleil, the only sense I can make of it is that you are not well informed. How could you say in a declaration, that a group of people who are trying to find a better future for their country by meeting and consulting with different sectors of Haitian society, provoked the Aristide supporters by having a private gathering in a religious school? By the time the Caravane of Hope arrived in Cite Soleil that morning the entire area had been terrorized by a group of Aristide supporters. These Aristide supporters used large rocks to batter the members of the Caravane (teachers, human rights representative, heads of syndicates, business men, students, young men and women, members of the church, and many more). the victims never replied, they did not even have the means to defend themselves. The police refused to protect them. I can tell you because I was present at that meeting. I was present because I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, I am a Haitian. I left my children at home that morning because I felt the need and the responsibility to hear and share with teachers, peasants businessmen, merchants, workers, industrials, Journalists, intellectuals, my feelings and vision of a better Haiti. IS THIS NOT MY MOST BASIC HUMAN RIGHT? IS THIS NOT THE MOST ELEMENTARY RULE OF DEMOCRACY? Having said that, I believe you owe it to your voters, your country, your constitution and your conscience to research the events of Saturday July 12th in Cite Soleil. Find out who the 184 are. You will see that they are not the opposition or a political party. They are a group of moderates who want a better future for their country. Read their proposal for a New Social Contract. Ask yourself, why the Haitian government, who's very legitimacy is contested by most, is threatened by this group of moderates who are gaining too much moral authority within Haitian society and in the eyes of the international. If this moderate group cannot meet in a private school to share its vision of a new social contract, HOW CAN WE TALK ABOUT ELECTIONS IN HAITI? $30 is not excessive, i've paid $40 many times to see djs with his popularity. For a normal night at nv yeah that would be excessive, but this is a special event and for that its not and im sure many people feel the same way i do and thats y they have no problem paying that. Hell I think they might even go as for as paying 40-50 for it at the door though. By the way its kinda weird no complaints were made when he charged the same at opium a couple months ago. I'll be checking this out on friday night, yeah I know thats the 18 and over night but my lil brother is in town and would love going to this so its all good, plus doing this on friday night leaves saturday free for a kick ass oscar g session at space. I think its a good thing they did this for the younger audience and it will pay up for them.
