    Hybrid Review Thread

In general, I liked Nerve. I liked the fact that you could always sit down, there was no lack of seating and the vibe was definetly there. What I didn't like is the interior design of the place. It was not what I'd exepect when coming to a club called "Nerve", if that makes any sense.

Agreed. Hybrid did an outstanding job. I simply couldn't sit for long, had to get up and jump around. On a second note, this was my first visit to Nerve and I am quite disappointed. Somehow it doesn't live up to the image of a club. The colors are wrong, the layout is a bit tricky to navigate. It looks more like a pub :

Amen to that. Garfield has a following that I didn't know was possible for DJ. I was a Garfield junkie and saw the same group of people every time he played. I didn't know many by name but that was the closest I've ever been to feeling like a part of a tribe.

Hydra, which club are you going to be playing at? I'd like to check it out.
  6. The difference between the best and mediocre is that the best listen, learn and adapt. I have heard Oscar G play some rather impressive stuff but I never had a "wholesome" night where music kept me going and going -- it would get monotonous after a couple of hours. Last Saturday, on the other hand, the DJs delivered uplifting, melodically diverse and developing sets that kept the club jumping with energy that approached the one you see during sets of PVD, Picotto and the likes, sans the massive crowd. I am no judge of talent. I am not even a real DJ, I am only learning. But I do know what I like and what people around me like. People that I brought with me on Saturday wanted to leave about an hour into Oscar's set, and so did I. DJ's job is to entertain and from what I saw, the three guys did a better job than Oscar that night. Oscar is a good DJ and definitely has his style but I am begging for a little bit more variety and excitement. Insert some breaks, make the beat flow and make it develop. Make people wonder and stall in anticipation. Don’t just drop the hammer at 140 bpm!
  7. Yeah yeah, you Hydra kicked royal ass. I want to hear you spin again. Hell, I definetly have things to learn.
  8. Where did you get the sets? That night was out of control, I haven't heard so much good house (and a little bit of trance) in one night... like ever. I don't even like house too much but that was incredible. IMHO you guys made Oscar G look quite bad, I left about an hour into his set, couldn't take that monotonous destruction of ear drums much longer.
  9. According to http://www.cooljunkie.com/club_listings/clubs_full_sat.html George Acosta is playing at Maze but according to his site he is in Lebanon. Can somone confirm either one?
