  1. Happy Birthday to Groove Eric, an awesome DJ!
  2. thanks! but no, upstairs was closed...Lumin just announced today that he wasn't there at all last night....hopefully I'll get a chance to hear the real Lumin soon...lol
  3. Gracias gentlemen yeah...I have missed the CP crew...have been on hiatus while trying to figure out my next career move...but things are looking a little better now.
  4. Have to make the correction, since I just found out it wasn't Lumin there last night. But whoever was there was good.
  5. Headed back down to the SoBe scene tonight...and found it rather quiet. It was as if eight other people and I had booked Amika for our own private engagement. (Not quite, I wish!) DJ Lumin had already ascended his post by the time I arrived, along with a group of about 5 people all communicating in sign language. How handy that must be - easy chatting no matter how loud the music gets. Lumin's continuous set explored the different percussive nuances of house...it was quite lively, lush and energetic, the sort of vibe that definitely could have satisfied a large crowd if one had been present. We were ushered into solid deep house rhythms, with pleasing Middle Eastern and African flairs. Three note themes recurred, one of which reminded me of the tune from Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey" (from an artist fluent with world music). I liked the way downbeats were often contrasted. Among the tracks were a house version of Queen's "Living On My Own," and a brief snatch of Corona's "The Rhythm of the Night." There was also a good deal of tribal chanting, as well as a song "I love to love you all the time...it's good..." (unidentified) As empty as Amika was, I had a great time just enjoying the vibe and watching the sign language continue as tirelessly as the music. I do look forward to attending another CP congregation, however, wherever that may be next
  6. Congrats Danny! Like I told you - your hard work has paid off! You deserve this Becky
  7. Sorry to hear that It sounds like your dog was a great friend.

  9. Wow...go you! I wish I had that kind of courage
  10. Davvero? yeah, I like 'dem boys every now and then...with plenty of onions and peppers. Actually had my first one at a fair also...
  11. Made it out to the fair a few nights ago...my 3rd BCF all in all. All the things you usually love about fairs are there. All the junk food - the Italian sausages, the funnel cakes, ice cream, corn dogs, pizza, popcorn...the great American tradition of fair food. Those looking for ride thrills should get some satisfaction - it's no Busch Gardens or Universal but there is a pretty high vertical towel drop, a train car that revolves every which way upside down and all around...walking around the rides I heard plenty of screams. There was the guy in the dunk booth with his studiously annoying laugh and heckles....this year the guy's laugh sounded like a drunk duck quacking. My husband stepped up to the plate to pit his old baseball arm against the guy...and he got pretty close, but no cigar. Since my hub is pretty short and small, the heckler kept remarking "hey skinny" and "maybe when you're bigger! ha ha." My hub was a pretty good sport about it though. We caught a lumberjack show which featured two guys playing around with chainsaws, hewing out a rabbit (about which one guy said, "that don't look like any rabbit I've ever seen" to which the other replied, "oh yeah? check 1-95") and doing a log race ontop of a log floating in a big plastic swimming pool, which was concluded by the fat guy in overalls toppling into the water with a big splash. We took a round in the high ferris wheel, walked by a boy getting thrown from a mechanical bull, past an impossible rope ladder challenge which no one seemed to be able to master... I always love seeing the animal and horticulture tents. The huge cows with their soft glossy red coats and little calves, the little black prickly pigs, the goats, the rows of cages of picture-perfect hens, bunnies and roosters...then there was the landscaping and skillful exhibits done by childrens' groups. I think the fair's going on until the 28th, so you still have time if you want to go. It's a great time....a good old fashioned fair. And the nights are so nice now...
  12. i guess we have to look at it as going into a mandatory S&M club...they prob do...:/
  13. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-spat23nov23,0,4929407.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines There has to be a better way to carry out security measures than this...I think the airport personnel are probably getting a kick out of doing these searches. Probably the most power they've ever had or will have in their lives.
  14. i used to go to twilo, webster hall, pyramid (on ave A)...people still liked to show off up there but i grant you, people are a bit more down to earth up there (that sounds like a paradox...lol) i agree...there is a lot more showing off of bodies down here...hence the "post your tits" bit
  15. Childhood reading was great for me...my favorites - Chronicles of Narnia, Trumpet of the Swan, Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, Beatrix Potter books, Return to Teribithia...and the list goes on and on.
  16. "Today is the greatest Day I've ever known Can't live for tomorrow, Tomorrow's much too long I'll burn my eyes out Before I get out I wanted more Than life could ever grant me Bored by the chore Of saving face Today is the greatest Day I've ever known Can't wait for tomorrow I might not have that long I'll tear my heart out Before I get out Pink ribbon scars That never forget I tried so hard To cleanse these regrets My angel wings Were bruised and restrained My belly stings Today is Today is Today is The greatest day I want to turn you on I want to turn you on I want to turn you on I want to turn you Today is the greatest Today is the greatest day Today is the greatest day That I have ever really known"

coming into november still no train of livelihood the sun shines outside the weather crisps the oppressive heat relents yet no promise the carousing continues the bands play on the records spin the feet stomp only without me from oceans away words come to me what meaning do they have just shadows of a prospect twenty-nine years find me here just floating nothing to cling to nothing to hold my life infected with lies dying of dreams inspiration lost in darkness
  21. Thanks nautica - I appreciate it...actually did 6 miles tonight so hopefully I will be back in the groove soon.
