This is a good thread - don't let him jack it

I hear ya, Flip....I'm studying for the bar exam and will have to let most of the fun pass me by for now...but after August, I'll be back in the saddle

Any place on Lincoln Road with "good" service?

Lol....thanks....I love to write about stuff that inspires me...so I go where I can be inspired. I think we all need a little inspiration, no? What's cool is that there is still so much out there in Miami that I have not yet gotten to...hopefully I will get to Nerve and Privilege and Jazid and all these cool places I keep hearing about...And Flip, it seems like you have some rather unique life philosophies of your own...I think we all can learn a lot in "the land of FLIPTONIAAA!!!!!!"

Then, if now is like the '50s, hopefully there will be another liberal renaissance like in the '60s coming 'round the pike

Got there early right after it opened, when there were probably no more than ten people in the R&B room and the main room was gated off. I stood there sipping my green apple martini. By the time I got another, the R&B was louder and the bass was penetrating the room. I fell into a conversation with a young guy from Stockholm - he kept asking me eager questions about Florida and I struggled to understand him over the din. He was enamored with Miami, and would much rather stay here. He'd been to Sobe and didn't think much of Privilege because it had been pretty empty at the time. Having not been there yet, I couldn't comment. Finally, I escaped into the main room and onto the floor. The music was dense with drumbeats, piano chords, and vocal chants. There was much more of a frenzy in this music than, perhaps, trance. I thought the music tried to emulate the force of a stomping, dancing, shouting crowd, with the heavy, abrasive drumming and shouts. It's like it's trying to force you into its rhythm by using your head as its drumpad. Its energy is violent. I am usually more drawn to music with more subtle energy, yet just as powerful...transporting you unaware.

Yes, Smashing Pumpkins rocked - very strange, dreamy feedback-laden noise....too bad they broke up

It's still a mystery....maybe a better detective than I can figure out the answer

No, actually, this is for real

Don't know - I just heard an apology from the programming director of Power about bus ads, telling you not to look at the bus ads upside down, saying he'd gotten a lot of complaints about it. He also apologized for violating the heightened FCC restrictions....
-
Does anyone know why Power had to apologize - something about seeing something obscene when you looked at its bus ads upside down? Just curious

I'd like to finally make it back down to Space...tough when you're coming from Coral Springs

Who's going? I'd like to go down and hopefully meet some more of you.

I got this from someone at my school, it's a riot.. Try this soon, before Google fixes its site: 1) Go to Google.com. 2) Type in (but don't hit enter): "weapons of mass destruction" including quotation marks. 3) Hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button, instead of the normal "Google search" button. 4) READ CAREFULLY what appears to be a normal ERROR message. Make sure you read the whole error message. Someone at Google apparently has a sense of humor.

I didn't express a preference for vocals/no vocals - I'm just trying to learn the differences between the different kinds of electronic music.

I hope to eventually learn what all of these different musical denominations mean, that mrmatas2277 has mentioned. I'm sure that it's much easier to know what is trance or house or breaks or whatever if you're a DJ - but how do you tell the difference if you are just an average listener?

My computer malfunctioned earlier and that's why no text showed up in my earlier message - sorry. I am confused because I don't know what the hell to do about my marriage situation. I was hoping that anyone who is willing to help me out could lend some wisdom to my situation. Basically, my husband is a great guy, he's nice to everyone, and he loves me a whole bunch. I love him too, but I don't feel a whole lot of passion towards him. We don't have very much in common, plus we have a huge age gap (I'm 28, he's 51). I don't know whether I want to stay and fight to make this marriage work, or leave and try to find someone that I have a lot in common with and who really turns me on. If anyone cares to lend some relationship insight, I'd appreciate it. I really don't have anything to lose - I'm so tired of going around confused all the time. Thanks,

I won tickets to this Ultra and another concert they had at the old StarBar in Ft. Laud, with Ian Van Dahl, Four Strings and Kreo

If you are, I have a question for you - you can PM me if you want

Josue - it was really nice talking to you all evening and learning some dance moves in there as well. Tonie, Miguel, Dan, Chloe, Diabolique, it was nice to meet you also. Chloe, it will be nice to hear you down at Jazid. Maybe I'll even be able to come tonight, who knows. Didn't know you were from Seattle - welcome! (My mom lives outside Port Townsend). Thanks to everyone who made the party so great! Can't wait for the next one.

This story really tears me apart as well. It's especially hard seeing that video with the guy taking her away...it's so frustrating to think that the camera saw it, but no else did until it was too late...if only they could put some kind of intelligence into surveillance cameras, so that an alarm could go off if the camera saw something like that. Poor little girl.

Actually I thought of putting this thought under your thread, but I didn't think the owner of the thread would appreciate it too much if I tried to change the topic of that thread. I still thought my interpretation of your thread title was interesting so that's why I started a new thread - while still acknowledging yours. I wasn't trying to rip you off - just that your thread sparked an idea for me and I thought it was too unrelated to your thread to put it under yours. And as for as what you said about my partner - you know nothing about my situation.
-
That's what I thought that the other thread was about when I first saw its title. As for me, I guess I'm in an "opposites attract" kind of situation.
