  9. -- Sunday, July 16, 2006 -- Marz Entertainment and Bassmint Recordings presents JOHN LARNER (Muzigue Boutique, Guesthouse, Bassmint) Indianapolis w/ opening set by: CARL JOACHIM (Bassmint Recordings) Boston John Larner John Larner hailing from Bloomington, Indiana has had a 20-year association with electronic music and dance culture. As with most youngsters he began with his Father’s record collection, which introduced him to the electronic and new wave sounds of the late 70’s and early 80’s. From here because of his unique location, he was given a front row seat to the Chicago and Detroit music scenes which blew up in the mid-80’s. A religious follower of the Hot Mix Five and Wizard (Jeff Mills) mix tapes, John was influenced by the best. Naturally, DJing led him into production. His first release “How I Really Feel†on Better Days Records in 1999 (under the name Cyberjive) was played throughout Chicago. Around this time he started working in the studio with his long-time friend, Slater Hogan. Their association unleashed a flurry of underground releases. In 2002, their first release, a white label bootleg caused a major stir in Miami and put the two on the map. John Larner and Slater Hogan’s creative output blossomed into a hybrid of swing, jazz, hip-hop, techno and classic house sounds. In 2001 John, Slater and Shawn Collins founded Muzique Boutique Recordings as a vehicle to present their sound to the world. Packaged in a colourful, kitsch sleeve picturing a martini glass, it’s an ironic nod to the swing and jazz history of the area. With acclaimed releases from Jonene & Tony Senghore, Hakan Lidbo, Lance De Sardi, The Littlemen and Stacy Kidd the label is a consistent performer. Muzique Boutique releases have found their way into the record boxes of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Inland Knights, Heather and DJ Sneak. John’s production success and DJ talent have seen him in demand in clubs around the globe. Widely known for his high-octane sets, which incorporate a balanced mix of fresh cuts and the old sounds of Chicago and Detroit. John’s DJ mantra is juxtaposition, and he isn’t afraid to mix things up for his audience. His full-spectrum sets are enjoyed in Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand. With strong followings in Belgium, Australia and Scotland, John racks up frequent flyer points all year long! Back home in the U.S.A, when not in the studio, you can catch him laying it down from San Francisco to New Orleans and most places in between. For 20 years John has made electronic music his life thanks to friends, family and loving wife. He currently receives his musical inspirations from likes of Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Mathew Dear, Phil Weeks, Lance De Sardi and music from all over the globe. He digs playing shows in new places, and jamming the local skateparks when he gets a chance and exposing people to his music. Carl Joachim Born in the early 80s, Carl Joachim was bathed in the infamous music genres of the disco, classic rock, urban hip hop, jazz, & the Caribbean based rhythm & blues. Behind the studio, Carl's main goal is to meld a portrait of art with a palette of different musical tastes that reaching from the sun spirits of Spain through the water god cries of the Caribbean Islands to deep routed African rhythms of the Gaia. “Tigra C is able to express his musical taste in a subtle Deep Tech House fashion that has been known to peel the paint off of a few walls...†– CTBG Under his alias DJ Tigra C, Carl has been a guest DJ in locations such as Wednesday Nights @ News Boston , Thursday Nights @ Analog Lounge Boston Friday Nights @ Red Door Portsmouth , Saturday Nights @ Dover Soul , Proton Radio Show - Perceptions feat. DJs Dres & David Josephs. This upcoming fall, Carl Joachim plans on expanding his music career through his production talent on record labels such as Anamorphic Recordings &Slanted House Records finally emerging his own label, Bassmint Recordings in 2006. upcoming events ---------------------------------------------- 07.16.06 JOHN LARNER (Muzigue Boutique, Guesthouse, Bassmint) Indianapolis CARL JOACHIM (Bassmint Recordings) Boston 07.23.06 JESSE ROSE (Induceve, Dubsided, Front Room) UK RYAN OBERMILLER (Red Door, Marz, bump) NH 07.30.06 10th Annual SUMMER BOAT CRUISE Afterparty presented by Phoenix Landing & Hugh O'Neill's 08.13.06 BRYCE C (See Sound Lounge) Seattle SERGIO SANTOS (Moving Soundz, Marz, bump) 08.28.06 Bananza Music send-off party TARI (Trademarq, Bananzamusic.com) MARKO MILITANO (Trademarq, Bananzamusic.com) GEORGE NESSIS (Bananzamusic.com, bump) 09.03.06 RAOUL BELMANS of the SWIRL PEOPLE (Aroma, Tango, Tronicsole, Lowown) Belgium ROLLAND ESS (Double Down Prod, Marz, bump) 09.24.06 JAY TRIPWIRE & LUKE McKEEHAN (Nordic Trax, 2Guerilla) Vancouver BC more to come... bump underground house music sunday nites at phoenix landing 512 mass ave, central sq, cambridge www.marzentertainment.com

  16. SUNDAY07.02.04 Please join us for the return of one of our favorite DJs in celebration of our 7 year anniversary. Fred Everything enbodies the sound and range in music that we have tried to push since we began in the summer of 1999. I know we have had him come play alot in the last 2 years, but what can we say... hes the real deal! So cancel your plans, take Monday off and get down to one of the best DJs House Music has to offer.... MARZENTERTAINMENT Celebrating 7 Years of Underground House Music featuring FREDEVERYTHING w/ resident DJ SERGIOSANTOS 7 years is a lot longer to think about than it actually seems. When we began, we were young, eager, a bit naive, and just loved music. We started Marz Entertainment with a vision of the future. How it could be, and how we wanted it to be… Now, 7 years later, we have more friends and memories than we can ever possibly count or acknowledge. But we would like to thank everybody for the support and encouragement. Our original vision was to push and elevate Underground House Music in an effort to establish and cultivate House Music culture in Boston. Never intending to stick to one style of house, we have been blessed to play with and play host to some of the greatest DJs in Boston and from around the world. People can say what ever they want about us, but one thing is un-debatable…. We did it our way! We don’t have the biggest crowd, the hottest venues, the trendiest patrons or the glory that coincides with that. What we do have is real people and real friends that share a unique goal and vision for Underground Dance Music in Boston. And that is all we will ever need…. Respect, George, Mike, Sergio, Ryan, Rolland and Randy (Marz Entertainment)
