  7. Now that I am thinking about it.... Lets throw Justin Martin in there too! Justin Martin Justin Martin is one of the few house DJs that successfully bridges the gap between being commercially successful and staying true to the underground. His sound has been described as both melodic and tough, with releases ranging from the dynamic & smooth “Brazilian” on Utensil to the boomtpy “Cats & Dogs” on Classic. Justin first gained international acclaim for his single, “The Sad Piano,” on Ben Watt's Buzzin'fly label. The single made its way into many A-List DJ crates as well as receiving many accolades from critics. He considers himself lucky to be making music and is always a humble, but rocking presence on the dance floor. With a really strong Freshman year behind him, Justin was rewarded with a nomination as "Best Breakthrough DJ" by the 2004 International House Music Awards. Look out for an amazing 2005 as Justin will be featured as “The Next Big Thing” in the March 2005 issue of XLR8R magazine. He and his production partner, Sammy D have also been honored in the “URB next 100.” Thanks to his phenomenal mixing talent and precise ear for what moves a crowd, Justin has established himself as the next generation of San Francisco house with the skills to hang with the current Masters. Keep your ears open for Justin's new singles coming out this spring on dirtybird and Buzzin'fly records. 4 Years and Bumpin!!!

  9. -- Sunday, April 30th, 2006 -- IZ & DIZ (classic, seasons, mff, OM) San Fran / Chicago For the past 4 years we have strived to bring the best underground house music to Boston every week. We are very proud to celebrate our fourth year of bump. And as in years past, we have two of the most highly acclaimed house music producers as well as our favorite DJs Iz & Diz. Thier music has spanned almost 10 years and has been praised and played by every House DJ in the world. Thanks for all your continued support, and thanks for keeping it underground bump crew... John, Sergio, George, Rolland, Ryan & Randy IZ & DIZ Joshua Michaels (Iz) and Dwayne Washington (Diz) met in Chicago almost thirteen years ago and have been friends ever since. They both had their nicknames before meeting each other, so it was a natural progression to start working together as Iz and Diz. When Joshua moved to Chicago in 1994, Iz and Diz began making music together, recording their first track at the legendary KMS studios in Detroit for the Prescription Records offshoot Balance. Now out of print, this was to be a first in a series of well received singles for a variety of respected labels including Silver Network, Classic, Seasons Recordings, Tweekin Records, and Aesoteric Records. Their first single for Classic, "Wiggle While We Work" featured the seminal track "Mouth" which was comprised entirely of vocal snippets from the dynamic duo. A remix EP of "Mouth" (also on Classic) presented new interpretations by Pépé Bradock and Greens Keepers and brought international recognition to Iz and Diz's production. The track was featured on Radio 1 in London and licensed by worldwide heavyweights such as Giles Peterson among many others. Not limiting themselves to peak time house cuts, the team produces a wide range of music for a myriad of times and places. From chilled-out midtempo cuts, to driving disco tinged floor fillers, Iz and Diz have garnered respect from DJ's around the world, with support from Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Kenny Hawkes, Luke Solomon, DJ Heather, J.T. Donaldson, Lance DeSardi, DJ Sneak and many more. upcoming events ---------------------------------------------- April 2006 BUMP 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 04.30.06 BUMP 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY IZ & DIZ (classic, seasons, mff, OM) SF/Chicago and very special guest 05.07.06 BONS gone WILD part III BONS (Inuendo, HDF & Bons, Bon Johnson) and Guests 05.14.06 j matthews (beatopia, Midnight Click) Minneapolis/Boston NICKMATIC (LaGalleria, www.deepboston.com) Boston 05.21.06 IAN POOLEY (NRK, Buzzin Fly, Force Inc.) 10. -- Sunday, April 23th, 2006 -- POPGIRL 23 (Galanta, www.popgirl23.com) Portland ME DJ VOX (Bassmint Recordings) Boston MA We welcome for the first time on Sunday (although we don't know why it took us so long) one of Maine's finest exports Popgirl 23. Jen has really been holding it down for House Music in Portland. DJing and throwing great club nights all over the city. Joining her for the opening duties is one of our favorite New Jackers and incredibly talented DJ, DJ Vox. We have seen Bo transformer from club freak, to gay-circuit DJ, to Jaded Househead in the past few years. If you have got a chance to check out his WMC mix from this year, make sure you bug him for a copy this Sunday. POPGIRL 23 Jen's house mixes are packed full of tasty selections spanning the past 20 or more years of underground electronic dance music history. Her style ranges from the deep n' sexy end to straight up jackin' beats while crafting some funky, bass-driven grooves. Everything's done on the fly (no set lists), with constant mixer action including EQ effects, cuts, juggles, and harmonized extended mixes. The result is a positive, energetic, sexy, and sophisticated mix... with no silly gimmicks. Early influences include growing up to 70's and 80's classic rock, Kraftwerk, Michael Jackson, Afrika Bambaata, Information Society, and freestyle artists often heard on saturday night mega-mix shows. In 1996 she asked her best friend and mentor (Roger) to show her how to mix. Her friend introduced her to classic house pioneers like Adonis, Hercules, Frankie Knuckles, Jamie Principle and such from late night record listening sessions... then the many nights over the past decade dancing to Junior Vasquez, Ron Trent, the Body and Soul DJ's (Joe Claussell, Danny Krivet, Francious K), and more at clubs in New York, San Fran, and Boston. In the summer of 2004, Jen was recognized by the Portland Phoenix as one of PORTLAND'S MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMEN 2004 for "breaking into the boys club"... refering to her 14 years of heartfelt dedication to Portland's nightlife... as a DJ and promoter. To date (winter/spring'06) Jen's held as many as a dozen residencies in her hometown, winning PORTLAND'S BEST CLUB DJ 2003 title, and runner's-up for both 2002 and 2004. Recent residencies included a 4 year saturday night monthly at Una Wine Bar (voted Portland's #1 lounge 4 years in a row) featuring New England's best deep house and nu-jazz grooves; helping kick-off a friday bi- weekly "Plush" for the sexy crowd; a saturday night anything goes policy at "Swerve" for the wilder crowd; her floating party "House Jams" attracting Portland's most dedicated crew of house music lovers to Bubba's Sulky Lounge, (voted Portland's #1 place to dance 4 years in a row),... and still she continues to be invited to play in almost every major city in the northeast plus she's played in New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, Nashville, and overseas to Italy and the UK. In short, her sound is distinct (with a classic take) and her mixes are smooth, but best of all is that she's coming from a dancer's perspective... she simply makes you want to dance. For more info on events please visit Galanta. DJ VOX dj-Vox, a.k.a. Bo Johnson, moved to Boston from the UK in 2000 and has steadily made a name for himself in the local dance music scene. Originally from Houston, Texas, Vox discovered music early in life in the form of classic rock and heavy metal. These styles serve as a backbone to his sound today. This love of music guided him to become a guitarist as a teenager and eventually lead him to study at Berklee College of Music. While living in London, Vox discovered electronic dance music and soon traded in his guitar for a set of turntables. By involving these sounds Vox creates a transcendent feeling on the dance floor. His intuitive track selection and technical skills allow him to maintain the flow on a dance floor for hours on end. Now a Berklee grad and an up-and-coming DJ/producer, Vox is 1/5 of Boston deep house label, Bassmint Recordings which celebrated its first release (Bumpin' N Jackin') in March of 2006. With appearances at Rise, Bump, Vertigo, and 33, Vox has grown a loyal fan base. His recent WMC double promo mix has received nothing but excellent reviews and was just featured on Slanted House Radio podcast. With a bang on New Years Eve opening set at Rise, Vox has definitely made his imprint on the Boston dance music scene. As he continues to research and evolve his sound, you can be sure to see and hear more from dj-Vox in the months and years to come. If you didn't shake it! We didn't make it! 14. -- Sunday, April 9th, 2006 -- Seasons Recordings label head JAMIE THINNES This week we are pumped to have an personal favorite back to bump. While Jamie Thinnes maybe not as well know as others, his contribution to House music is hard to match. Over the past decade, his Seasons Recording imprint has offered the Finest selections in Deep House and continues to be one of the most influential label in underground house music. We also welcome back friend and teammate Ryan Obermiller to say Happy Birthday as he gets things warmed up for Jamie. JAMIE THINNES Los Angeles Jamie Thinnes founded Seasons Recordings in 1996, his love affair with electronic music was the motivation behind it’s commencement,. His fascination of how a DJ could manipulate the moods of their listeners, loaned him the curiosity to dig deeper into the world of sound. He enrolled and graduated in a recording engineering program, refining his knack for sound design and structure. A short time after, he founded his now thriving Seasons Recordings imprint (formerly Earthtones). Fast-forward to the present and you will find the name Jamie Thinnes, as a DJ that is aggressively sought after all over the world. He has toured throughout Northern America, Europe, South Africa, and Australia. He is also a resident DJ in Los Angeles, Orange County, Puerto Vallarta, Vancouver, and San Diego. Seasons Recordings, the label, has become one of the most respected and desired labels in the house music industry. Jamie's passion for blending organic style with an industrial undertone has been his baseline for not only his manner as a DJ, but as well as the benchmark sound stamped on each mindfully picked record. Season's albums and artists include: Undercover Agency, 2nd Shift, Sumo, JT Donaldson, Derrick Carter, Lance DeSardi, DJ Heather, Joshua (a.k.a.: IZ), SWAG, Freaks, and other great works and musicians. upcoming events ---------------------------------------------- April 2006 BUMP 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 04.09.06 JAMIE THINNES (Seasons, Earthtones) Los Angeles RYAN OBERMILLER (Marz Entertainment, Red Door) NH 04.16.06 BRYAN JONES (Jackin Tracks, Aroma, Fetish, Control, Robsoul) Chicago JOHN PACHECO (Marz Entertainment, bump) 04.22.06 POPGIRL 23 (Galanta, Plush, www.popgirl23.com) Portland ME DJ VOX (Bassmint recordings) Boston 04.29.06 BUMP 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY IZ & DIZ (classic, seasons, mff, OM) SF/Chicago and very special guest 05.07.06 BONS gone WILD part III BONS (Inuendo, HDF & Bons, Bon Johnson) and Guests 05.14.06 j matthews (beatopia) Minneapolis/Boston 05.21.06 IAN POOLEY (NRK, Buzzin Fly, Force Inc.) 16. -- Sunday, April 2nd, 2006 -- WALTER McMULLET (Biz in Front, Party in the Rear) Boston First off, we'd like to thank ZeroG Sounds and Unlocked Groove for stepping up at bump as we knew they would. Alan Manzi and Mike Uzzi held the vibe down tightly, while the bump crew was soaking the sun on the beautiful (and slight breezy) South Beach, Miami for this years WMC. But we return this Sunday with a grip of fresh promos and sunburns. But luckily we have had great weather here in Boston to curb the Miami blues. And a relatively exciting guest DJ to launch the Spring season... WALTER McMULLET (aka Dipshit) Starting at the early of 35, Walter was destine for nothingness. Growing up in some of the roughest parts of Provincetown, he developed a keen sense of rhythm from a constant ringing in his ear due to repeated kicks to the balls by parents, siblings and classmates. A reputation that would later prove to very substantial in his landslide victory for “The Most Likely to be Aborted After Birth†4 Years running, and spanning 3 different counties. His unrelenting passion for his craft and minor addiction to small boys elevated him above the rest and made him in high demand for routine kick circles. His groove, tolerable. His smell, unbearable. He puts the Jock in DJ. Admired by none, worshiped by less. 19. -- Sunday, March 19th, 2006 -- MIKE SWELLS (Rise, Filthy & Swells) Boston A little pre-game filthiness leading up to the WMC this year. Mike as really emerged as one of the best Boston has to offer over the past year or two. Amazed by the his skill an versatility, we knew we had to have him come and play at bump soon... especially after some really impressive sets at Rise (NYE), Vertigo and 360. So if your looking to stretch out your dancin shoes and/or prepare your liver for the debauchery that will follow... this is the weekend. Mke Swells below the surface of the dance music industry, a saturation of otherwise unknown djs are constantly vying for recognition. the competition is undeniable, and often creates schisms amongst the very people who should be working together to keep the music moving forward. fully aware of this fact, mike swells emerged on the boston scene as a face in the crowd supporting house music nights throughout the city. after so many late nights in clubs, lounges, and other mischievous after-hours gatherings, swells eventually became a familiar fixture of the beantown crew. once he was sure that his commitment to his hometown’s edm scene, as well as the djs behind it, could not be questioned, he started asking his friends for deck time. before long, swells was regularly serving up 5 hour sets downstairs at rise, boston’s only after-hours nightclub. playing extended sessions to a musically discerning crowd has allowed him to develop a sound that encompasses many subgenres of proper dance music over the course of a night; sometimes spacey, often funky, always flowing deftly onward. upcoming events ---------------------------------------------- 03.19.06 MIKE SWELLS (Rise, Filthy & Swells) Boston RANDY DESHAIES (pantydrop, Marz, bump) 03.26.06 Zer0 G Sounds presents ALAN MANZI (Unlockedgroove/Zero G Sounds) MIKE UZZI (Unlockedgroove/Zero G Sounds) April 2006 BUMP 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 04.02.06 WALTER McMULLET (RedNex House, Forum Hijackers) Boston ROLLAND ESS (Double Down Productions, Marz, bump) 04.09.06 JAMIE THINNES (Seasons, Earthtones) Los Angeles RYAN OBERMILLER (Marz Entertainment, Red Door) NH 04.16.06 BRYAN JONES (Jackin Tracks, Aroma, Fetish, Control, Robsoul) Chicago JOHN PACHECO (Marz Entertainment, bump) 05.07.06 BONS gone WILD part III BONS (Inuendo, HDF & Bons, Bon Johnson) and Guests 05.28.06 Memorial Day Weekend - Open til 2AM!
