  1. Go HERE for more photos by MARK BYRON and TAG YOURSELF and your friends! Saturday night, Nicky Digital helped host “The Jump Off 10 Party” at 285 Bedford in Williamsburg. “Kids With Snakes teamed up with extraordinary DJs Gavin Royce (Bad Decision) and Alex English (everything) to shake the hell out of Savalas this Saturday. Hosted by front man Mikey Styles and The HUNS, a sassy group of lovely ladies.” More story and photos below: “This party is all about squeezing good friends into a great bar and partying until we’re in tears. Think of it like a house party with endless cocktails and 3 exquisite DJs spinning a unique selection of indie/house/electro/disco. That means no losers fighting over who gets to play Kelly Clarkson on their iPod–there will be none of that shit at The JUMP OFF. Alex English and Gavin Royce tote with them a bag a rare vinyl pressings of the best dance music from the last decade.” More...
  2. Go HERE for more photos by GINA SACHI CODY and TAG YOURSELF! Sunday night, Greenhouse was full of fans of a different house.* The “House of Fields”, as in Patricia Fields. Worshipers of her line came out in their best get outs to help celebrate the Holidays Field style.* Greenhouse was full of names like Andre J and Kenny Kenny. Click below for more photos from the party! More...
  3. [Photos by Rob Rich] Last Tuesday night, Rob Rich caught up with the legendary DJ Felix da Housecat live at Cain Luxe, along with Justin Tranter (Semi Precious Weapons), Amanda Lepore and others.* No one had more fun, perhaps, than our brightly colored guest above rocking out in his fabulous trinkets and awesome spectacles.* On second note, he may have had some competition…. 4. No more champagne! (Merkato 55) Photos by STEVEN EKEROVICH It’s not unusual to see corked bottles of rosé popped midday in the French Riviera during summertime or in New York for that matter.* But Seeing dozens and dozens popped in New York during December in freezing cold temperatures is sure to raise a few eyebrows.* And then of course if you add Jeroboams and Methuselahs of champagne into the mix (ushered to tables with an entourage of sparklers), you have a true anomaly.* Or a kickin’ party. Aymeric Clemente of Bagatelle knows how to draw the top crowd The so-called “Saturday brunch” has been making Saturdays the new Sundays (at least as far as brunch is concerned), and Merkato 55 and Bagatelle Bistro have been leading the charge as of late.* Make no mistake, these are not your typical sitdown affairs, but rather a rosé-fueled party that has people dancing on tables, twirling napkins, waving sparklers, and charging glasses to the brim that pulsate with the reverberations of house music. * The best part for party-goers is that they are both within a few blocks of each other.* The worst part is that they are in the meatpacking district, an obstacle, however, that these guys more than overcome… Bagatelle is headed up by Aymeric Clemente, NYC Frenchman and longtime maître d’ of the Upper East side euro hotspot Le Bilboquet (that saw it’s fair share of napkin twirling in its day).* Merkato 55 is the brainchild of twins Daniel Koch and Derek Koch, who interestingly worked with Clemente at Le Bilboquet several years back.* Conveniently, both places are also located above a club in case the party needs to be extended (Merkato 55 is above Bijoux, and Bagatelle is above Rendevouz and is adjacent to Kiss and Fly). After moving in their own directions, the twins and Clemente have ended up as neighbors, both having set up shop within several blocks of each other in the Meatpacking district, albeit 63 blocks lower than before.* This past Saturday seemed to be culmination of both spots efforts during the fall of ‘08 to be the Saturday brunch king.* Merkato which started out on the ground floor of its space, has since overtaken two floors and has nearly doubled in capacity.* This past Saturday, Bagatelle hosted renowned St. Tropez DJ Jack E, who spun for a party that was sold out days in advance. Both places indeed seem to be thriving, in fact fueling each others success, often having long ques of people waiting in the cold to enter.* We will keep you posted on the ongoings of the Koch brothers and Clemente in the New Year and follow wherever the party may go! 5. What NYC doorman said this?* Find out after the jump… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iamWR8WENEw None other than famed Marquee doorman Wass Stevens.* There’s been a lot of talk about Wass’s acting these days since the release of the new Mickey Rourke movie The Wrestler.* So we decided to dust off some 2007 footage of the Marquee doorman and see him in action.* Of course in this clip Wass plays himself, nonetheless convincingly so!* You will also be treated to other priceless quotes from other people in clubland. 6. It’s always a comforting to know that you can get internet access at your local nightclub these days.* 1 Oak’s wireless system looks to be running in fine form.I don’t suppose we will see club goers bringing their laptops into clubs anytime soon, and nor does it seem to be the best environment for work.* At least not for that kind of “work”.* But the option does exist for those of you who need more than a blackberry to field emails.* Just make sure not to spill one of the mixer crafts, keyboards sticky from orange juice are simply no fun! 7. [Photos via Pink Elephant] I don’t know why I get such a kick out of looking through Pink Elephant photos, I just know that every week or so I find myself there, on their site, scouring the best ones.* I am addicted.* I want to know: What song is being played right now? If these three have worked together for years or just met that night? Are the blonde girls friends? What do they do for a living? Where do they shop? Where did tongue boy picked up that hemp bracelet? What does the older gentleman do for a living?* Where did he get that scarf of his? See isn’t it fun?* Also, I’m learning that from the looks of the photos over the last couple of weeks, people are helping ease their unhappiness with hookups at clubs in every way shape and form….take for instance: More photos below: More...
  8. NYC Has been covered in snow this week, and no, we’re not talking about that white powder you find at The Box.* With holiday parties galore, restless travelers stuck in the city, and temperatures plummeting, we kept busy with one of our most eventful weeks of the year. First and foremost, our own Guest of a Guest holiday party at Bungalow 8 was a huge success.* It was just like old times….except that it was 8 pm at night and the booze was free. There were many other holiday parties we covered this week including: The Do Good Feel Good Holiday party at Southside with an after party at “The North Pole” turned into quite the rager, keeping do gooders partying well into the morning hours last Friday. Susanne Bartsch got “Crazy for a Cause” at her Annual Holiday Toy Drive which took place at newly opened Greenhouse and brought out guests like Marc Jacobs, Amanda Lepore, Richie Rich, Patricia Field, Debbie Harry, and Dita von Teese. The Eldridge was the place to hold your holiday party this season it seemed, as both the “Make a Difference NYC” Organization (providing toys to under serviced children) and Thrillist held their holiday parties there.* Matt Levine was present at both, spreading tidings of comfort and joy. Kol Design and BoConcepts teamed up once again to throw their Annual Holiday Party with some male models in Santa hats and underpants. ACRIA hosted their 13th annual holiday dinner at the Stephan Weiss Studios in Greenwich Village. UrbanDaddy held their annual holiday party at the former Real World house (632 Hudson) where they were stacked with four stories of blazing fireplaces, jazz and Johnnie Walker. NYC’s notable creatives, fashion influencers and glitterati gathered for the first annual Chandelier Creative Christmas Extravaganza at the ad agency’s Soho office to benefit the New Museum’s upcoming exhibition, “The Generational: Younger than Jesus.” My “It” Things hosted the fashion blogosphere elite for an intimate event celebrating the winner of the “it” holiday dress contest. Several “guests” came to our “Guest of a Guest Tree Trimming Party” with ornaments in tow to help us decorate our tree. Style Caster, the mega fashion site that is going to change the fashion world, held their Holiday party at The Randolph on Broome street. The Witness Black Tie Holiday Masquerade Party brought the city’s prettiest people dressed up in their finest.* It made for some good looking photos. Other parties, non related to the holidays, included Scott Harrison’s Charity:Ball for Charity: Water organization: ["Best $250 I Ever Spent!" Tim and Jason do Charity: Water Ball] [Charity: Water Ball 2008, This Runway's A Tough Walk] [Wallets May Be Broke, But Spirits Ain't Broken: Hope Found at Charity Ball] What Recession?! An anonymous clubgoer bought a $20k bottle of Armand de Brignac champagne last week at Marquee. Our letter from a reader entertained us with tales of one man’s quest for the perfect night out. The ASSME (American Society of Shitcanned Media Elites) held a party to “sustain and inspire this beleaguered professional subclass” at Ella. Jamie Foxx celebrated the release of his new album “Intuition” at Home on one night, and his birthday party at Mansion on another. Southside may have officially gone back to being the neighborhood bar it started as, Bella’s.* The people rolling around on the beer soaked floor were the clue that helped us come to this conclusion. Marquee defied odds and made it to see it’s 5th Year Anniversary Party.* It has been deemed “the* hottest club in the known universe” by the post, and seems to be hoping to stay that way. Liam McMullan is one busy kid. Double booked with party hosting obligations, television shows, and editorial columns, we think he needs to slow down for a bit. Steve Lewis gave us the scoop on the newly remodeled Webster Hall, it’s “a real old school nightclub experience with tons of stuff happening all at once in different rooms.” Some Beatrice Inn regulars got together to help Rory Guinness with his latest video. Finally, the thing that brought us the most joy this week, was looking over the photos from this years SantaCon in NYC. Ho! Ho! Ho! That’s it for us this week, Happy Holidays and we’ll see you next year!!!! More...
  9. Go HERE for more photos by JT WHITE and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! Spotted: Dabney Mercer (Tinsley Mortimer’s little sister) twirling around the dance floor at Southside with none other than Sebastian Bland (Kashmir Snowdon-Jones’ beau).* Don’t worry, these two are just close friends people.* Kashmir was there too and they all partied their beautiful little social pants off on Thursday night.* JT followed the group, after the fashion for food event and gives us a look at what Southside looks like on a Thursday night.* And, from his photos of patrons rolling on the floor, it doesn’t seem like much has changed at all from our lovable Bellas. 10. We had to dust off the archives to bring you this blast from the past.* A 2004 NYMag profile of Shana Madoff, daughter of $50 billion dollar confidence man Bernard Madoff, and her brand loyalty to designer Narciso Rodriguez.* Some of the quotes simply need to be reprinted, including this one: “‘I just thought it was plain and chic. And for me, that’s the trick. I have to know that I can buy it and be able to put it on in three years.’†Um, why what happens in three years?* Was this a portend to the future?* Chic during opulence, plain for post fraud fallout?* Should the SEC have picked up on this obvious Freudian slip or taste? Too many questions but perhaps we’ll find the answer in the quotes below after the jump… “‘If I see something I like, I call around,’ explains Madoff, a securities lawyer. ‘I just don’t have time to shop. I get a little bit aggravated when I go into a store because I could be doing so many other things that are so much more productive.’” Hmmm…productive?* Like what? “She can be quite determined about getting certain items. Last summer…she stumbled across a tweed Prada bag she knew would go perfectly with her Rodriguez basics. She left her friends and walked down the beach saying she had ‘to make an important phone call.’ Interesting…smells of deceit.* But then… “She ordered the bag on her cell phone. When it arrived two days later, she came clean to her boyfriend. ‘That was my important phone call!’” Well at least she came clean about something! More...
  11. Deemed at one point “the hottest club in the known universe” by the NY Post, Marquee has defied the odds and made it to its fifth anniversary. That’s five years of bottles, models, celebs, and the largest taxicab gridlock this side of the Mississippi.* Embracing the externalities of Chelsea’s nightlife boom (of which they played no small part), their recent advertisement on taxicabs reads “MARQUEE, providing us with the longest cab lines for over 5 years” The brainchild of Noah Tepperberg and Rich Thomas, Marquee led the wave of nightlife development on 27th street in Chelsea with Bungalow 8 that ushered in neighbors such as Cain, Pink Elephant, Home, and Guest House.* Alas, a revolution of brand name clubs were born.* But Tepperberg and Thomas didn’t stop there.* They have since parlayed their fame and good fortunes into starting and managing the mega revenue Tao Vegas and Lavo. 12. [Photos by JERRITT CLARK] Jaime Foxx celebrated the release of his newest album “intuition” at a party with his adoring fans last night at Mansion.* The party, sponsored by VIBE Magazine and Patrol Tequila looked to be a hit.* I’m not sure the lengths this young woman had to go to score entrance, but having Jamie Foxx pouring alcohol into you mouth on stage is priceless.* Right?* Cindy Guyer presented Foxx with a cake on stage and artists like the Retro Kidz, Tashina Renea, Michelle Jimenez, and Redd came to toast the album that has already garnered rave reviews. 13. Go HERE for more photos of this event by NICK MCGLYNN of last night’s party. Go HERE for photos from MARK BYRON Go HERE for photos by SEANA CAVANAGH Go HERE for photos by JT WHITE and TAG YOURSELF in them all for crying out loud! “It was just like the old days.” This was the best compliment I heard all day regarding our Guest of a Guest holiday party last night at Bungalow 8. Okay so only a handful of our guests last night were even around to see the real old days of Bungalow 8, but it might as well have been my first time there, it was that magical.* EVERYONE was there.* (Except DBTH which I’ll excuse because he bid me merry holidays via email and Emily Brill who I’ll also excuse because I ran into her at Rose Bar later on and she was genuinely nice).* On to the party: More story and photos below: The place sparkled!* Literally.* Good old Bungie had a major makeover for the holidays and had lights shining everywhere.* Around 7:00 I decided to get my makeup done at the station that Makeup Mania had set up for the night.* Ruby Red lips.* I started to get nervous because I thought people weren’t going to make it out on account of the horrible weather.* However, the night progressed I realized that, thankfully, you all are much more brave than I am on nights like these. So many people showed up that I thought Ari was going to lose his marbles at the door.* Thankfully he manned that entire situation so I could Mix Mingle and Jingle with guests. For me, last night was the culmination of the entire year of hard work and team effort.* I could not have dreamt of a better night, a better venue, or a better crowd to celebrate the season. This post I am refusing to mention any names of people there, you will have to go to one of the many galleries to take a gander at that.* Instead I will spend the rest of my time thanking everyone for making last night possible. Thank you to our fabulous party planners, Stella Rankin, Bridget Flemming, and Ari Cohen.* Stella’s company A5E are the best in town as far as party planning goes.* Thanks to Makeup Mania and Roni-Sue Chocolate Shoppe for providing us with makeup and chocolates, the two essential things to any good party….besides the alcohol of course.* Big thanks to 1947 Beer and Chopin Vodka for serving us some holiday cocktails.* DJ Suhel upstairs…your tunes were awesome! Also, thank you to you, our readers.* To our team of people here in the office including Chris, Kendra, Ari, Maggie, and Carolina; to our publishers, our contributors, our online friends, our gchat buddies, and our photographers who, even at THEIR own holiday party, opted to snap pics.* Keith Lissner, the best designer I know, thank you for the beautiful feather gown to wear and for always dressing me in the finest dresses. Thank you to my family (if you’re even reading) for trying to understand my job and for getting my room ready, now that the partying is (almost) over, I can’t wait to come home for Christmas.* I love you all! 15. What recession?!* An annonymous Euro clubgoer bought this $20k bottle of Armand de Brignac champagne at Marquee last week!! Here is a picture of the bottle, its 6 litres and was the first of a limited edition of 30 to be sold in the US. The bottle is so big it’s covering the mysterious money bags who bought it.* So….in case you’re wondering, here’s hwhat $20,000 can buy you outside of Marquee: - 10,000 coffees from Starbucks 23 oz of REAL gold 20 24″ Apple Cinema display monitors One amazing Keith Lissner dress 10,000 gallons of refined gasoline for your car 5,714 Kumamoto oysters at Blue Ribbon 10 Tables at Dune More...
  16. Go HERE for more photos of this event by Gina Sachi Cody. Last Saturday, Steve Lewis helped ring in the NEW Webster Hall, complete with a make over by the superstar himself.* I sat down with him to ask him how the night went.* Here is a bit of what he told me: “It was as I expected. A real old school nightclub experience with tons of stuff happening in different rooms.* Cassidy rocked in the Marlin Room and Kaskade was amazing on the main.* The Euro party on the balcony was really well received.* People stayed and seemed to enjoy themselves.* I think it’s going to be what my design intended, a funky let your hair down old school club with great DJ’s” Steve is not done with construction yet and said he’s curious to see how Saturday goes this week with Mark Ronson. “It’s 40,000 square feel and as usual no matter how long you have there’s still paint drying.” More photos and story below “This wasn’t intended as an opening in the classic sense as the joint has basically been open since 1886 and we didn’t close for construction.* It was more like an introduction a statement that Webster Hall is here and folks who are disenfranchised by the usual boring beats in music and beatdowns with bottle service can have fun, I actually think there is no place to go on the weekends except here….” More...

  18. [Winter brunches at Merkato 55] We started off our week with the cold realization that our city celebrates the season of winter much more so than Miami does.* We spent half of Monday reliving Art Basel: [Art Basel Makes For A Perfect Anniversary Party] [Tommy Hilfiger & Vanity Fair Take Free Arts To Miami] [The GenArt Party Draws Eclectic Crowd] [Tory Burch Private Dinner Party at Fountainbleau] Including stopping by the newest member of the Miami nightlife, club LIV in Fountainebleau where guests like the Hilton sisters, Russell Simmons and Lenny Kravitz. While the weather here is shockingly cold, the brunches at Merkato 55 are just heating up.* This party is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.* Let Derek and Daniel help rid you of your winter blues The Holiday Parties are just getting started.* Here’s some of the ones we have stopped by so far: [Bacardi USA Holiday Party At Cain][Winter Wonderland at the Botanical Gardens]</p> [The Naughty or Nice Party At Haven] [Genre Magazine Holiday Kickoff Party] [Valentino/Vogue Holiday Party] [The Charles Maddock Holiday Benefit at Beatrice Inn] [Louis Vuitton and Teen Vogue Holiday Party] [The College Humore Boys Holiday Party] [DON. The Guest of a Guest holiday party is this Tuesday, get ready for a night of debauchery from the place that started it all, Bungalow 8. Who wears their Ray-Ban’s at night?* A lot of cool kids. Bowie Ball at Santo’s Party house brought out some pretty things. Blackberry introduced their newest Pearl Flip with a party at Highbar. Singer Teyana Taylor celebrated her 18th birthday with cupcakes and friends. NASCAR hosted a salute to the 2008 Sprint Cup Series Champion, Jimmie Johnson, at Marquee.* Drivers like Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, Clint Bowyer, and Greg Biffle saluted their adoring fans with a walk on the red carpet. Finally, leave it to Scott and Naeem to fill in our missing holes in coverage.* They were once again, painting the town red. 19. [scott and Naeem with Marc Jacobs] Go HERE for more photos of this event by Scott and Naeem and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! Last night we never thought we would get a cab in the crazy all night rainstorm, but the gods were kind and we got one in minutes. Unfortunately the gods care nothing about traffic and it took us half an hour to go less than 30 blocks for our first stop at the Quest/Ivanka Trump party uptown. We literally walked in, saw Ivanka and left. We are sure it was a lovely event but the space was very small, coupled with wet coats and the warmth we decided not to stay and headed for our next stop the Louis Vuitton/Teen Vogue party. More story and photos below: We were invited by Teen Vogue’s own Lily Amado Givoni who looked fabulous and fit despite having a baby just months ago. We spotted what we thought was champagne, grabbed it and went for a big gulp before gagging-apple cider! ugh! They weren’t serving alcoholic drinks on the first floor due to the abundance of actual Teen Vogue readers in attendance. We scurried upstairs to the third floor and the real bar. We spotted Jules Kirby and her posse and hung with them for a while before deciding to head out to our next stop the Chandelier Creative Christmas Party. Chandelier is an advertising agency and our beautiful friend Lorenzo Martone works there. We thought we were in for a typical corporate affair. We were wrong. Thousand of pink balloons festooned the ceilings of the first room while a gospel choir sang pop standards. The second room had a gold motif and featured a silent auction and a naughty santa. We sat on Santa’s lap and told him what good boys we’ve been this year. Other’s seen at the party included: Brian Paylago, Marc Jacobs, Tia Walker, Douglas Marshall, Chuck Attix, Jason Rogers, Keith Lissner, Douglas Friedman and Richard Christensen. Scott planned on heading home but our cab karma was all used up and he had to walk with Naeem to the Eldridge and hung out for the night until the rain let up. Others joining included: Sean Glass, Briana Swanson, Liam McMullan, Neda Verbanova, Cole Bernard and DJ Mel Debarge. More...
  20. [Jules Kirby, Paul Johnson-Calderon, Tara Church] Go HERE for more photos by SCOTT and NAEEM and TAG YOURSELF and your friends! We began our night at the Operation Smile/Ferragamo shopping event. We were thrilled to see a photo booth in the corner because we love nothing better than getting our pics taken! We scanned the room and didn’t know which way to go, our friends were everywhere. Gillian Heart Simonds was there with her adoring husband Christian, Laura Kornhauser, Tara Church, Bobby Kennedy, Jasmine Rosemberg, RobertFowler, Nick Dietz, Kristian Laliberte, Dabney Mercer, Sarah Basile,Martin Dawson, Dalia Oberlander and William Heath, Emily Hodge, Melissa Berkelhammer, Annabell Vartanian, Zev Eisenberg, Emma Snowdon-Jones and many many more. More story and photos below: We approached the woman who makes it all happen, Deedee Sides, to congratulate her on another amazing event, and she informed us that we have been selected to be on the Operation Smile committee. We were thrilled and honored and look forward to working much more with this amazing organization that changes people’s lives all over the world. We then headed down to the Ray Ban Colors party at Bowery Ballroom. Scott’s agency Artwing was just awarded the new Ray Ban Worldwide campaign for this new line so were especially excited to go. When we got there we were told door was closed due to capacity issues and that the fire marshal was inside. Paul Johnson Calderon and Jules Kirby managed to get on the step and repeat and promptly grabbed three pairs of sunglasses. We decided the hassle wasn’t worth it, especially the beyond rude security company that they hired, and headed to Rose Bar. Rose was filled with the usual mix of hipsters, socialites, models and hangers-on. We ended up sitting next to Riche Akiva’s table as he played host to Jay-Z and Leonardo Dicaprio. We also managed to take quite a few pictures. They’ve seem to relax on that no pictures rule? More...
  21. The week after the big Thanksgiving holiday, and we realize we have a lot to be thankful for.* Sure, there is a huge recession hanging over our heads, making for a greyish “Black Friday”, but in a city that never sleeps, there is always a good party every night, recession or not. We started out the week recapping the big Thanksgiving Eve bash hosted by Lydia Hearst at Lucky Strike Lanes.* We had loads of fun both on the lanes, and at the after party at The Eldridge with Matt Levine and his posse.* On the very same night, guests were toasting Tao on it’s 8th year anniversary uptown.* Staying relevant that long in this town is cause for a thankful celebration indeed! We uncovered the big story of Mike K., the little analyst that could.* Merrill Lynch by day, Tenjune by night, this guy never stops.* Managing 4 separate facebook accounts and numerous girls, we caught him prepared for both roles with a blackberry in one hand, and a cocktail in the other. Speaking of promoters, the only way we found out about Mike K was after receiving his invitation to Britney Spears’ Birthday Party at Tenjune on Tuesday.* Which brings us to the most covered event of the week.* She definitely brought quite the circus into town.* Fans toasted the pop star on her new album (and new looks).* Among them? None other than our favorites Kristian and Devorah. Webster Hall is almost ready to reveal it’s new “Steve Lewis designed” makeover.* The unveiling will be this Saturday (the 13th), but we wanted to give a shout out to the place beforehand. Cadillac Records held quite the after party at Marquee at the beginning of the week.* So did Sports Illustrated, Complex Magazine and G Shock, and our favorite, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Latin Quarter may or may not lose it’s liquor license after that GIANT incident over the weekend. Scott and Naeem had too much fun hosting the Trinity Place Shelter Benefit at Aspen on Tuesday night and spend the rest of the week doing the usual...Waverly Inn, The Eldridge, etc. Pink Elephant saw some members of their staff depart, but assured us that this was not to be taken as a sign of trouble.* In fact, their expansion efforts are well on the way to continue to make the Pink Team a worldly power not to be reckoned with. LIV nightclub, the newest edition in Miami’s Fountainebleau Resort is now open for business and has a few New Years Eve parties up their sleeves already. Speaking of Miami, we are down there now! Art Basel is winding down, and BOY do we have a lot of reporting to do.* Look for that this week….in the meantime, check out some of the hippest parties that helped start out the week that art enthusiasts everywhere look forward to each year.[Interview Magazine Dinner Party] [Prince Dimitri Shows Off His Jewels] And finally, there’s nothing like a good cat fight between reality tv stars at a bar to end the week on is there? 22. [Dueling Socialites Kerry Cassidy and Whitney Port] A tipster reports that things got a little heated between reality TV socialite divas Whitney Port and Kerry Cassidy last night.* Whitney is the star of the Hills offshoot “The City”, and Cassidy is apparently also going to star in her own reality circus. I was standing over to the side behind them and paparazzi were there taking pictures for Whitney’s new show “The City”…Whitney had walked into the club like a diva…[and] she manage to push Kerry like 5 feet back, I think she thought Kerry was talking to her boyfriend. Kerry proceeded say “excuse me, are you serious” and then shoved her way back to her table… All of this of course transpired at Southside, the new bottle bar on the outskirts of Soho.* Girls will be girls, but I suppose the big question here is why Southside would ever let Paparazzi inside in the first place… More...

  25. David Cohen, manager of Pink Elephant, talks to us exclusively about the recent departures of Shawn Kolodny and Tim Fried from the Elephant. “Shawn left here “mentally†months ago and physically two weeks ago…There is QUITE a bit of irony in Shawn working at the club that ALL axed staff have gone to.” [on Shawn Kolodny] “He was never “director†of anything. He was a good event coordinator, not great.* Pretty disorganized ( it’s hard to be up all night partying and maintaining day in day out ‘office house).” [on Tim Fried] “I, personally, am going to miss the hell out of both of them.* We ALL are.” [on Shawn Kolodny andTim Fried] Entire statement after the jump [Pink Elephant Is Nowhere Near It's End...] David Cohen - Shawn is a good friend and I will miss him greatly. I have known and worked for* Shawn for over 7 years now.* I wish him all the best, as does each and every owner and partner of Pink Elephant.* I assure you he still has a valued interest in Pink Elephant’s success.* He, as many of us, are going through tough times financially. Shawn’s ONLY interest with regards to the Pink Elephant brand is/was NYC and as you know we have properties in Southampton, Chicago, Brazil, Puerto Vallarta and opening somewhere between 5-15 venues under the Pink Elephant brand in the next 12-18 months and behind the success of key players, Like David Sarner, Bobby Montwaid and Rocco Ancarola.** All of whom are still here and are not only legendary, but not even close to their “peakâ€.** Trust me, we are going nowhere. I know Shawn feels the same way about us.* He is doing what he has to do to make ends meet and if that’s being a door host at another club, so be it.* I wish he was the door host at the club he STILL has ownership in or came up with some way of staying here.* But I try not to “get involved†with that level of relationship here.* All I know is he is happy, the partners here are happy and it was amicable and in the best interests of EVERYONE.* Shawn was just here last week partying as you had even posted pics of him on your site!! lol That being said.* Tim Fried is someone I just met when he joined Pink Elephant 11 or so months ago.* He is a terrific kid with a lot of potential.* He and I worked next to each other every day and became very close friends both here at work and offsite we would hang. I was happy and proud enough to have been at his personal birthday dinner with dear and close friends only.* That meant a lot to me. I never ‘heard of’ Tim before he joined Pink elephant.* That’s means nothing.* But I do know a lot of names and never really came across his. Tim was Shawn’s assistant.* He was never “director†of anything. He was a good event coordinator, not great.* Pretty disorganized ( it’s hard to be up all night partying and maintaining day in day out ‘office house).* I think Tim succumbed to MANY personal setbacks recently and it affected his work. He was not motivated. He was almost “too hip†to be here, at this point. He too, will be missed.* The fact of the matter is, he failed to live up to his obligations, expectations and various quotas.* Fortunately, the rest of the Pink elephant team, myself, Josh, JB, etc. have been able to pick up some pieces and keep the “events†department together. But,* that being said, if you know any well qualified Event Planners that actually bring* business with them as well as take the 500 leads we provide them a year and book more than a bat mitzvah or two, send them my way!* I am interviewing. Other then the coincidence that Shawn posted some STUPID facebook event (that he didn’t even do right (without ME, shawn is utterly an helpless technologist) ( I mean do Noah and Jason, Sarner and Montwaid, Remm and etc even USE facebook, what is he like 18 years old?) and people showed up at Bagatelle on Tues night only to be told there was no party) and Tim’s disgruntled misleading email “I have decided to no longer work with the Pink elephant team†was more of a “save face†and “job hunting†email than anything else.* (from what I hear it worked!) so I am happy to see he got a job.* But the fact is, Tim was terminated.* He did not leave here other then “declining†to work on commission only.* He was offered an independent contractor position, that quite frankly was being offered better commission then anyone off the street.* He was STUPID to not stick it out and use the space to find another job or do something.* But I did hear he got a gig as an assistant for a modeling photographer so I wish him all the best and I know he will do well. I, personally, am going to miss the hell out of both of them.* We ALL are.* Shawn was here on the 4 year anniversary last week, and will be here for the 5th and 6th.* Will it be on 27th Street?* Who the hell knows.* I certainly am not privy to that information.* But we are doing VERY well here right now. This much I know.* I know a lot of other nightclub people, behind the scenes, and I know how bad some of them are doing.* I won’t mention names, but I know clubs are 3-6 weeks behind on paying vendors, promoters and employees.* My check clears every week as does EVERYONE who works for Pink elephant and does business with us.* That is a FACT.* Delivery people talk!! ( little inside info for you if you ever want to get the REAL scoop on clubs talk to liquor delivery people they go to more clubs then anyone!! )* Lol That’s a little inside tip for the gossip hunter in you! There is a BIG difference between Shawn and Tim.* Not to mention, they didn’t both quit or get fired on the same day.** Shawn left here “mentally†months ago and physically two weeks ago.* He wanted to celebrate the 4 year anniversary with us and enjoy what he has built before moving on, I mean down, the road.* He is out of the nightclub business entirely after his hostess gig he is currently doing at what everyone calls†imitation Pink†as well as Shawn has. There is QUITE a bit of irony in Shawn working at the club that ALL axed staff have gone to.* (I want you to find ONE person ONE that has QUIT pink Elephant, ever.* Waitress to office to busboys) He wants nothing to do with nightlife.* He is pursuing a Masters degree at NYU and wants to work exclusively at night and go to school full time and is going to kick the economy in the butt when he graduates.* He is a brilliant guy and will do well with his masters.* I am, honestly, VERY proud to have built my professional career into a TRUE friendship with shawn.* We actually still call each other every day like little 8th grade girls.* Scary.* My wife laughs that we are like her and her sister. We just sit there on the phone and talk about the stupidest shit.* So I am glad for that. So, just a short comment for ya to help set the record straight.* I don’t regret saying any of it and it’s all true straight to the point and MY PERSONAL opinions and thoughts.* They do not “represent†Pink elephant, nor am I some kind of spokesperson.* If you want an official response, get it from Ron Berkowitz! Peace and all the best. Dave More...
