  1. The End of the Elephant?* That has been the headlines the last couple of days, referring to the “double dip” departure of “Marketing Director” Shawn Kolodny and “Director of Events” Timothy Fried for Pink Elephant, one of our favorite “Best $2k” features and all around solid nightclub on 27th street.* We just couldn’t bear to accept that this was going to be the end so we contacted The Elephant himself to set us straight.* Ron Berkowitz, the official publicist was extremely helpful, and put all of us at ease.* Click below for the scoop: Ron started by assuring us that Pink Elephant was in no way towards the end of its run.* In fact, they are opening several new outposts, the most relevant one being in Sao Paulo on December 18th (mark your calendars).* They are also currently working on clubs to open in Punta Del Este, Puerto Vallarta, London, Miami, Rome and Zagreb (Croatia). He then went on to point out that Pink Elephant is made up of a very solid team of owners and promoters such as David Sarner and Rocco Ancarola who are extremely committed to Pink and will continue to work on it’s expansion and it’s name. Regarding Shawn and Timothy, Ron had little to say except that they work as a team, hence the double departure. Alas, with people continuing to spend more money here in one night, than many clubs make the entire month, we are sure Pink Elephant is here to stay around for awhile longer. Team Pink! We are excited to see more from this team in the future, are thankful that our fears were put to rest, and are looking forward to New Years! (Get your tickets HERE). More...
  2. [Micah Jesse, Lance Bass, Joe Almanza, and Jason Preston celebrating BritBrit] Go HERE and HERE for more photos of this event and TAG YOURSELF! Tuesday night, New York City seemed to be all Britney-ed out. Everywhere you looked, there was Britney mania. First on the list for the evening was at Britney’s Official Album Listening Party at High Bar. The hallways were decorated with balloons bearing the words “Happy Birthday Britney!†Once upstairs, guests were treated to cocktails and their first listen to Britney’s new album (or for some of us…our second listen after downloading it on iTunes). DJ Bobby Blaze treated lucky listeners included Eli Mizrahi, RCM Models’ Rogelio Castillo, Masha Rudenko, Sheehan Raab, Tiffany Ishak, Geff Yabes, and Michelle Hadman. The packed event served as a pre-birthday party before guests headed over to Tenjune for the pop princess’ official birthday festivities. [Britney Spears Brings A Circus To Town] More story and photos below: Needless to say, as expected, the scene was mayhem. It was definitely worth a glance at Britney, but painting the scene from the outside: hoards of people (young and old; male and female) were crammed behind the velvet ropes, spilling out on the street.. The party was definitely raging indoors, but as the night wore on, Tenjune closed its doors to guests waiting eagerly in the cold under Britney’s almost 4-story banner and admired the huge outdoor stage complete with men on stilts, fire eaters and jugglers. However, all though we left relatively early, the night ended up a huge success—even if it did prove to be a circus. More...
  3. [britney Spears reflects on the last year] Go HERE for more photos from this event by JERRITT CLARK and TAG YOURSELF and your friends! Britney Spears brought quite the circus into town last night to help celebrate her 27th Birthday.* The event which was highly promoted and anticipated, was supposed to begin at Midnight (so said all of the invitations), but apparently her actual private bday party started at 10pm and ended at midnight, leaving a lot of Brit’s fan’s disappointed as she bailed right at midnight like Cinderella.* Our insider Jerritt Clark headed over to the event with Micah Jesse after stopping by the GQ event at Louis Vuitton, and happened to catch the pop star just in the nick of time. More photos below: More...
  4. In case you didn’t hear, Britney Spears’ Birthday Party was last night, at the “Trendy NYC Hot Spot TenJune” [ET Online].* And, because it was such an intimate affair, Entertainment Tonight has only posted 5 videos of the affair.* They are titled (in order): Britney’s Birthday Party: The Venue December 3, 2008, 07:35 AM (PDT) An hour ago Britney’s Birthday Party: Set the Scene December 3, 2008, 06:14 AM (PDT) 2 hours ago Britney’s Birthday Party: The Cake December 3, 2008, 04:28 AM (PDT) 4 hours ago Britney’s Birthday Party: Britney’s Guests December 3, 2008, 02:51 AM (PDT) 6 hours ago Britney’s Birthday Party: Britney Arrives December 2, 2008, 11:30 PM (PDT) 9 hours ago We put the one of the cake up.* Stay tuned for our own photos and insiders report from TenJune later today! 5. I’ll admit, I had never even heard of Latin Quarter, that little nightlife spot next to the Radisson Hotel on 48th and Lexington until Giant’s star Plaxico Buress shot himself there this weekend. What should have been the best thing to ever happen to the club (hey, that’s how we heard about it’s existence right?), is shaping out to be the worst.* Today, we just heard (on the radio of all places), that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is calling for the liquor board to order the loss of the club’s license.* No word yet on whether this will happen or not, but not sure about LQ having to pay the price for this incident. Thoughts? More...
  6. [All photos by Nicky Digital] Nicky Digital just posted some photos from the LVHRD’s 5th Annual Fashion Contest that we covered last week.* 99 Red Balloons was the currency of the evening.* And, they were put straight to use as the dresses on the design models.* I’m not sure who ended up winning, though from the looks of it, no one seemed to care. 7. “It’s been five years since Mayor Mike Bloomberg banned smoking in bars. And no offense to Hizzoner, but if this is the best the city can do to put an end to nightlife cigarette culture, we can kiss all hope of a balanced budget goodbye.” [Page Six Mag] We, like Page Six, doubt that Mayor Bloomberg will be hitting up Beatrice Inn, Citrine, or Rose Bar (just a sampling of the places that tend to ignore smoking), but we are curious to where else you go to lit up? Does smoking in bars/lounges/clubs bother you? Or is it to be expected? Click below for more including our favorite photo from inside Beatrice Inn: [Chloë Sevigny and Ben Cho at Beatrice Inn] Speaking of Beatrice Inn, apparently they have a “mix” on iTunes. We have yet to confirm if this is an official compilation from a legitimate Beatrice DJ, but in case you care, here are the songs that only the hippest of the hip are listening to (on repeat): The Skin of My Yellow Country (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) Float on (Modest Mouse) Young Folks (Peter Bjorn and John) Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division) When the Sun Goes Down (Arctic Monkeys) Sunday Bloody Sunday (U2) Up Against the Wall (Peter Bjorn and John) Icky Thump (The White Stripes) Tainted Love (Soft Cell) What Ever Happened? (The Strokes) Runaround Sue (Dion) Rich Girl (Daryl Hall & John Oates) Like a Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan) Someday (The Strokes) My Sharona (The Knack) MORE>>>> More...
  8. [Photos by Gina Sachi Cody] Last Saturday, Local H and Electric 6 took the stage at Webster Hall and from the looks of it, things got a little crazy.* Webster Hall is undergoing a huge makeover (brought to you by the one and only Steve Lewis), and will be reopening for business on Saturday, the 13th.* The last chance to secure your job as a bartender/wait staff is today at 5:00-6:30pm where the last rounds of interviews will be taking place! Because who wouldn’t want a job where you get to watch crowd surfers on a nightly basis? More photos below: More...
  9. [it's good to be King?] Who is the mysterious Mike Kanevsky? His FOUR almost identical Facebook Profiles on first glance paint a story of just another guy trying to make a living.* What many people might not know about Mr. Kanevsky, however, is that by day he is an analyst on the verge of unemployment, but by night he is a promoter on the verge of constant debauchery.* Only one of his profiles claims that he has a girlfriend, though all four of them are OPEN to the public and full of club pics.* This makes one wonder how this chap still has a job in finance? Is this just part of the perks of the job?* Is promoting for TenJune more lucrative than being an analyst at Merrill Lynch? What is this world coming to! Click below for more facebook outakes and photos of Finance’s Darkwing Duck: About me: “I promote clubs at night and work at Merrill Lynch during the day, but my dream is to one day sell carpets. I use Facebook because I cant afford eHarmony. I am Russian, but I like to take it slow. I recently broke up with Jessica Alba because i did not like the way she tied her shoes so I am single now. I like to go to clubs and express myself through the art of dance. I am warning you, I am extremely friendly and nice, so watch out. Hit me up if you like fun, I like fun.” More...
  10. It’s Britney Spear’s Birthday Party Y’all and, going along with the theme “Hot things that are trying to stay relevant” she is celebrating it at TenJune Nightclub tomorrow night.* And, what better way to “support her as she is cleaning up her act and making more music and less kids” with a toast at TenJune? The best part? The invitation we got on Facebook was from a certain Mike K who writes to guests: “I will be doing a comped dinner at STK at 10:30pm sharp, I have room for around 12 girls so let me know if you want to come. So girls message me on facebook or text me at 718-490-2109 if you wanna come. And Guys let me know if you want me to reserve a table for you.” Mike K is an employee of Merrill Lynch.* You know the recession has hit an ultimate low when the finance guys have become the promoters on the side! 11. [Photos by Kate Miltner] This is a little bit different from those Greenhouses that I spent so many hours in over my college Biology courses.* Those labs would have been admittedly a lot better had they been serving us all cocktails.* Alas my two favorite things have finally meshed.* Science and Partying.* I’m not sure how much learning is taking place in the newest club by Jon B, but one things for sure: there are a lot of bottles.* Kate Miltner gives us an inside look (from last night’s Thrillist party), at the club that has been on our radar for some time. 12. [bungalow 8 on the left, Southside on the right] Imitation is the biggest form of flattery, or so we’re told.* And Anthony Martignetti has cited Indochine and Le Colonial as muses for his bottle bar Southside, but he hasn’t mentioned Bungalow 8. Curious because the two places seem to have so much in common with respect to design (much like our website).* It’s as if Amy Sacco had her hand in it.* For kicks let’s take a quick look at the two places and see what they have or don’t have in common. 13. [All photos by Nicky Digital] Girls and boyz alike are going crazy for Girl Talk these days.* On November 15, the popular DJ took the stage at Terminal 5 and thousands of fans came in their favorite neon outfits and glow sticks.* Girl Talk concerts tend to get out of control.* Case in point? Last Saturday they were the prequel to the Yale-Harvard football game up in Cambridge and the police had to SHUT DOWN the concert after multiple failed attempts at crowd control.* “It was the most unsuccessful successful show ever,†Leah E. 14. [scwayze and Cisco Adler party at Highbar] Go HERE for more photos by Rob Rich and TAG YOURSELF and your friends! Last Thursday night, bad boy Cisco Adler and Shwayze held a Live Performance and Concert After Party at Highbar.* The party, which didn’t start until 11 pm, brought up fans of the performers to west 48th street to party the night away. There was also music by Skeet Skeet. We hear things started getting crazy once the Absinthe cocktails set in…. 15. Still think Matt Levine, owner of the Eldridge, is a shady character? How’s this for holiday cheer. We have just received an invite from the man himself for a special Thanksgiving complimentary champagne tasting at the Ridge.* What a guy. Seriously.* After blogger Brittany Mendenhall gave his cocktail a sub par review, and DBTH suggested she go to champagne school, (“…come on. It’s Armand with gold flakes. Let’s respect the cocktail here”). Matt has jumped in to save the day. We are so excited we can barely stand it.* Toasting some of the people that we are most thankful for with champagne at the Eldridge?* This is going to be the best Thanksgiving yet!* Click below to read what the email said: With Thanksgiving approaching, The Eldridge wanted to give back to those have been supportive of us, and thankful for your business, with a complimentary and education in Perrier Jouet…details below: THIS INVITATION IS NON-TRANSFERABLE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH A Education in Tasting Perrier Jouet Grand Brut, NV Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne 1999, Brut Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne Rose 2002, Brut Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1999, Brut ? 16. “It’s like walking out of my worst nightmare that has come real.” This was how my friend from home (Nebraska) described walking out of the Box when I took her there over a year ago.* It had already passed over from a fun PG-13 Moulin Rouge-like establishment into the raunchiness we all know today. There is a shockingly accusatory expose on the little nightclub that could: The Box, in this week’s NY Mag by Alex French, and I admittedly couldn’t put it down last night.* Besides getting into full descriptions of many of the acts (even reading them is hard for me), Alex uncovers loads of he said/she said type scandals that seem very detrimental to Hammerstein’s reputation.* The last time I went to the Box was months ago. I had to cover my eyes for most of the show. I walked out exhausted, my blood pressure had been raised to it’s highest level in years, I was actually NERVOUS about what was going to happen next.* Now, granted I’m not exactly the most sexually open person in the world (my midwest strict Catholic upbringing to credit), but still.* It was raunchy to say the least, 100 times more so because I was sober.* If pushing people passed their boundaries is Hammersteins’ goal, he has surely reached it.* According to him: “Everyone at The Box should feel like it’s a constant bath of Dionysian debauchery,†Hammerstein says. “That’s what I’m selling: mystique and mystery and sexual openness.†I am honestly at odds of even copying any more of the details from the article because they are too explicit for our GofG readers (NY Mag is clearly more “grown up”).* Basically ANYTHING you can imagine has probably already been done on stage at the Box. Our writers on this site have documented the drug rings, the rape stalkings, police raids, and the pushy doormen. But I have never personally touched the place.* Until now where I will simply say this: The Box is not for everyone. And nightmares are not meant to be relived. 17. [Photos by Rob Rich] Last weekend, the famous Pink Elephant celebrated it’s big four year anniversary with a bash to end all bashes.* We would like to take this time to honor the club who has given us the most “best $2k’s” to date (especially on our hamptons site).* Thank you Pink for all of the memories.* Thank you for you confetti machine, your smoke machine, and your sparkling champagne.* Thank you even for the weird shit you sprayed on me (was it foam?) the last time I visited.* Cheers to you! 18. BRRRRRRR! It’s really getting cold in Manhattan.* We always find that the best way to cure your winter time blues is with an all night bing through club land.* And things are just starting to heat up! The week started off with a big band at the Paper Magazine Nightlife awards at Mansion where we caught up with every major nightlife name in this city. The Crème de la Crème Of NYC Nightlife came out to toast each other and we had so much fun mingling with the friends that we have made over the years. Our favorite Uncle Stevie (Steve Lewis) found himself on Page Six, a silly little scandal that gave us all a big old laugh.* TEAM STEVE 4 LIFE! The Koch brothers helped open up the doors to La Prive with sparklers, cake and kisses for everyone! The recession is definitely here, though it seems to not be affecting everyone. We took a trip up north to visit our Yalie friends in New Haven, where we discovered that scholastics weren’t the only thing the city had to offer. Team Cain’s Jayma Cardosa celebrated her birthday in style at her newly opened Cain:LUXE.* All of our favorite Surf Lodgers reunited for a night of mayhem. Christian Siriano’s friends threw him a little “surprise party” at Citrine (though with all of the invites going around for it, we doubt it was as much of a surprise as they hoped). Jacob’s Angels are taking on Manhattan one club at a time.* So what do you think? Glorified pimp or classy promoter? Noah Tepperberg is growing up. Does this mean there are houses with white picket fences in the near future? Tenjune celebrated it’s 2 year anniversary with a big party for Eugene and Mark. Jessica Alba, Ice-T, Fat Joe, and Brandon Davis were among the guests that helped toast the club. Sneaker enthusiasts everywhere celebrated the opening of Reebok’s new “Flash Store” on Bowery. Beyonce Sasha Fierce hosted Gotham Magazine’s annual Gala at Espace.* Micah Jesse was besides himself with joy. Scott and Naeem were at it again: [Scott and Naeem do Mentor, Haven, and the Eldridge] [Lia Sophia at The Plaza Giving Socials a Chance to Emulate Eloise] [Scott and Naeem Do OUT 100 with more VIPs Than Ps] [Scott and Naeem do Art Rocks and Supermodels in Underwear] And we all finished the week off with a big trip to the Bowery Hotel for the Art Rocks celebration. 19. The citycentric show “The City” (not to be confused with London’s Financial District), appropriately missing all proper modifiers in it’s title, has finally met it’s match with the bottle bar Southside.* Last night a tipster reports the following ongoings there: They were filming “the city,” the spinoff of “the hills” last night at southside/netti’s. whitney and kelly cutrone were there.” Kelly of course plays herself in the show, a renowned PR maven.* She also heads up PR for Southside, so makes for the obvious fit.* Whitney new socialite sidekick Olivia Palermo was also in tow…we hear Olivia has been working hard on the show and will be in NYC for the remainder of the winter.* Prior to Southside, the crew was spotted at the Art Rocks event earlier in the evening.* Rock on! 20. [Photos via Pink Elephant] This is what it’s all about baby!* So, last night was Pink Elephant’s 4 year anniversary and we sent a photagrapher.* I can hardly contain my excitement and anticipation for the photos.* Seriously I’ve been waiting even to put “Best $2k” up.* Alas, we haven’t recieved them yet, hopefully it’s because our photog had so much fun at the party that he’s still in bed.* I will instead give you a little taste of the magic that is Pink Elephant from November 8th.* Everyone has an excuse to party these days. 21. [Naeem Delbridge, Scott Bucchet, Jason Rogers, Tim Moorehouse] GO HERE for more photos from Scott and Naeem from last night and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! Last night found us at the H&M and PHILLIPS de PURY & COMPANY Present Royal Gala Auction Premiere which was hosted By Brittany Snow with Music by Paul Sevigny and featured a silent Auction for Mentor Foundation. We were invited by PR Dive extraordinaire Tammy Brook. We made our way inside and the first person we saw was the Queen of Sweden. Who knew Sweden had a queen? We had a little chat with Brittany Snow, saw our favorite Olympic Medalists (Tim and Jason) and met yet another America’s Next Top Model alum, Diane Hernandez. We checked out all the art that we missed the night before and grabbed a catalogue with intentions on attending the auction on Sunday. More story and photos below: We then headed to Haven for dinner with our friend Kelly Brady. Some of you may remember Kelly from her short stint as a reality star on that MTV show featuring Lizzie Grubman. Kelly graciously hosted us and we were treated to an amazing tapas meal. The food was excellent and the space is beautiful. It was nice to be able to actually see it, as we attended the opening and couldn’t even see our own feet. We were joined by our buddy Tara Church and a great time was had by all. We then headed to Eldridge and were joined by Carrie Baker, Mike Dunn and Sloan Angell. No sooner were we in the door then DJ Mike Nouveau approached and informed us, you spelled my name wrong…again! So we looked it up this time. We were surprised when Leven Rambin came to make our evening. She leaves this morning and will be missed. 22. [Retro Kidz at TENJUNE's 2 Year Anniversary Party] Tuesday, November 18: Co-owners Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum celebrated TENJUNE nightclub’s two year anniversary with a star-studded celebration. Jessica Alba arrived at 2am after a full day of filming, “An Invisible Sign of My Own,” while Ice-T jumped on stage and grabbed the microphone to congratulate Remm and Birnbaum on a successful two years. Fat Joe kept a low profile in the VIP section next to the DJ booth. DJ Cassidy and O’Neil McKnight reunited and performed their hit song, “Check Your Coat,” which features TENJUNE in the song’s lyrics. Brandon Davis, MTV’s Damien Fahey and Rob Iler also dropped by the celebration as well as Cedric The Entertainer who was camped out in the VIP section with Larenz Tate and Anthony Anderson and Hip Hop mogul Irv Gotti. More story and photos below: New York Knicks Forward David Lee flew back to New York from Boston just for the party. *Lee didn’t let the Knicks loss to the Celtics slow him down from the rockin’ celebration.joined the party*fresh off the plane from the team’s loss in Boston, but that didn’t stop him from rocking out! 23. Watch out Amy Sacco, Noah Tepperberg has just revealed exclusively to GofG that his sister, Judy Tepperberg who has been the behind the scenes boss at Marquee for the last 5 years, will be the face of the new den which will be a similar size and scope as Bungalow. The plans for the lounge/restaurant, which they would like to be in the old Earth Space on tenth avenue between 17th and 18th streets have been the source of loads of online rumblings. A disgruntled neighbor sent out loads of emails encouraging people to do whatever they could to discourage the community board from allowing another club to take over.* (Cain tried to pick up this space months ago, only to get turned away).* Noah appeared before the community boards licensing committee last night.* After extensive discussion it is still uncertain whether he will be able to take over the lease. Noah tells NY Mag that it will be half the size of Marquee and won’t have a cabaret license or emply promoters. “I’m getting a little older, and my friends and clientele have grown up.” We wish the Tepperbergs and the entire Strategic Team success and hope to visit this place when it materializes. 24. [Jacob Stovall with one of his angels. Photo via Scallywag] Scallywag did a fabulous expose of the inside lives of a popular model wrangler promoter.* The author spends one night out with Jacob Stovall and 14 of his “angels” as they move from Buddha bar to 1Oak where they spend time getting noticed and make these hot spots look appear to be the number one choice of the rich and beautiful in the city. My favorite line: It’s 11.45 p.m. and we are now being finally seated for dinner not before the manager insists on checking i.d’s before serving alcohol. Until now you could’ve been forgiven for thinking you were dealing with high society, but watching management insist on checking i.d’s gives the evening a moment of sobriety, a moment that even if we are all living this very desirable life we are somehow a little too young or out of context to enjoy it. Such thoughts quickly pass though when the millionaire mojitos and cosmos finally make it to the table. More story and photos below: Jacob may seem like a glorified pimp, but insists that his girls are different: “I know what you’re thinking,†Jacob finally turns and looks me in the eye, “but these girls are my friends, we talk everyday on the phone, catch up for coffee, watch movies. It may all look like it’s a show, but it’s not, we really like hanging out with each other.†The article is a must read for anyone that has used the phrase “models and bottles” or has ever been slighted by one of these big groups rolling into a club. - More...
  25. [Jackie Astier, Peter Davis, Scott Bucchiet] Go HERE for more photos by Scott and Naeem from last night and TAG YOURSELF and YOUR FRIENDS! So nobody will believe us, but we seriously planned on a a very quiet evening. We attended the TImo! event at Phillips de Pury because we adore TImo Weiland, and planned on heading home afterwards. As they say the best laid plans…. At the event we spied all the usual suspects including: Peter David, David X. Prutting, Sarah Basile, Jules Kirby, Devorah Rose, Paul Johnson Calderon, Kristian Laliberte, Leven Rambin, Mike Nouveau, Dalia Oberlander, Susan Kilkenny, Luigi Tadini, Arthur Boujenah, William Heath, Tia Walker, Liam McMullan, Annabel Vartanian, Ally Hilfiger, Joseph Ungoco, Allan Rish and many, many more. The event space is actually a great art gallery and people were checking out the art as much as they were checking out Timo’s wild neckwear. More story and photos below: The gallery was in the same building as the Children’s RX benefit and a bunch of us decided to check that one out as well. We got inside had a quick cocktail and started to head home. We went to say our goodbye to Leven and she insisted that we accompany her to Citrine for Christian Siriano’s Birthday Bash. Level 42 vodka was served as well as a strange, new champagne that is served in what looks like small babybottles and when you’re carrying it around looks like you are carrying a urine sample. We met our FB Scrabble buddy Andy Cohen and kissed the birthday boy Christian. Devorah, Sarah and Jules showed up with Martin Dawson in tow and we all perched and posed. Leven needed a nibble so we decided to head over to Markt quickly for a little bite. Our favorite convo: Us to Mike Nouvea: ” We are going to go, you want to stay or come with us?” Mike: “Am not staying here if you guys are leaving.” Us: “Ok we’re leaving,” Mike: “Alright I’ll see you later, I’m staying.” So minus one we headed to Markt to have our last meal (sniff) with Leven before she heads back to Hell-A. Other stops over the rest of the night included: Rose Bar, Norwood and the Tenjune Two Year Anniversary Party. Surprisingly we were home in bed before 2! PS-Special Thanks to Armani Exchange/Andrea Burman for Scott’s vest and* Naeem’s sweater. And to Evisu/Adam Schmidt for our jeans.* All got tons* of complements!* Thank you guys so much! More...
