  1. This week we heard the devastating news that Marc Jacobs followed many others and canceled his Christmas party. Thankfully, we had other things to keep us upbeat: We were thrilled to be honored with a nomination for best nightlife blog by Paper Magazine for their annual “Best of NYC Nightlife” awards.* Please go and vote for us and tell your friends! Speaking of voting, every eye around the world was watching as the votes poured in on Tuesday night to determine who our 44th president would be.* With the presidential election came loads of parties to attend to and celebrations on our city’s streets.* We also found out what some of the top NYC socials reactions were to the Obama victory. [Election night party with Harvey Weinstein] [Election night with Scott and Naeem] [Election night at New World Stages] [How L.A. Celebrated Election Night] [Election Night in Rockefeller Center] [CNN's Grill Gets OBAMA Fever] Diddy turned 39 in style with a mega birthday bash at Mansion. Halloween Recap: We took a last look at some Halloween parties including Noah Tepperberg’s Halloween bash at Lucky Strike Lanes, and an EXCLUSIVE sneak peak of what Mary Kate Olsen was for Halloween at the Accompanied Literary Society’s party at the newly opened ultra-exclusive lounge, Rendezvous in the basement of Bagatelle. We also peaked inside the Halloween party at the newly redone Cain: LUXE, followed some NYC socialites around town for their Halloween extravaganzas, listened to Nick Cohen rock it out at the Hudson’s Halloween party, stopped by Bungalow 8’s Halloween Bash, and thought Ben Watt’s Heroes and Villlains party at the Morgans Hotel was a rocking success! Our #1 pick was Halloween at Rose Bar where more than just a couple of noteable New Yorkers showed up in costume. We have dubbed Sunday nights as the new Saturdays and are naturally continuing the trend as we speak.* Look forward to our recap tomorrow! More...

  4. Jason Rogers, Amber Lee Ettinger,Tim Morehouse Our favorite Olympians have had* quite a busy week . After visiting the UN for a private tour and partying at Haven with* Obama Girl, Amber Lee Ettinger, they are ending the week by teaching a night of fencing for friends and invited guests. After winning silver medals in Beijing, Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers have been afforded many amazing opportunities including hanging out at the best parties, getting their pictures taken with everyone from* Lindsay Lohan to Oprah, always using their position to inspire others to play hard and work even harder. More story and photos below: Tim said of his experience visiting the United Nations,”Having a private tour of the UN was really one of those surreal moments.* We got to take pictures on the podium of the General Assembly as well as visit the security council room.* I can’t even fathom how many important world decisions were made in that room!****What an amazing day of history in the United States.* Anything is possible!.” These guys are truly inspirational! Tim and Jason are using their newly found fame, by taking the opportunity to spread the word about the sport that they love, while working with organizations like Boys Town and Right to Play International. The guys still made time for fun by celebrating at Haven’s Obama Girl Party. Other guests of the event included: Oksana Baiul,Katie Chonacas,Ali Jacob and many others who celebrated Obama’s victory. Tim Morehouse Jason Rogers and Tim Morehouse More...
  5. [Photos by JOHN CARTA] Go HERE for more photos of this event by JOHN CARTA. Last night, loads of people still high off of the Obama victory, came to Mansion to help Diddy celebrate his 39th Birthday.* The Birthday Boy himself took the stage looking mighty dapper in his tuxedo get up, complete with velvet bow tie.* Tracy Morgan, Jay-z, Common, Ice-T, Coco, Cassie, Cedric the Entertainer, Ne-yo, Rebecca Gayheart, Mary J. Blidge, and Ben Stiller were just a few of the guests that showed up. More photos below: More...
  6. Go HERE for more photos from Scott and Naeem and TAG YOURSELF and your friends! I believe these moments come few and far between in a life time. A moment when the entire nation, or maybe the world, watched and everybody can ask, “Hey where were you when?” In our lifetime there have been a few. For some ( a bit older) it was the berlin wall, for others it was the discovery shuttle disaster, certainly for everybody reading this, it was 9/11. But now comes a moment, and for the first time in a generation a proud moment, when we can all stand up and say, “Where were you when the first black president was elected to the United States?” Well, we were at our friend Shawn McDonald’s Loft. It wasn’t swanky, and it wasn’t A-list. It was a bunch of friend’s getting together to celebrate a moment in time, in history. More story and photos below: Cheers were heard and tears were shed, and I will always remember where I was and who I was with. I share Barack Obama’s sentiment, we are one nation, united. I hope, for the first time in a long time, for that future. Others celebrating included: Rachelle Hruska, Tara Church, Bobby Kennedy, Sean Glass, Erma Eliazov, Deedee Sides, Allie Rizzo, Martin Dawson, Joe Freimuth, Mike Naft, and a few more. More...

  8. Last night, after a snack at Mercer Kitchen, a marathon after party at Follies, dinner at Bobo, and champagne and dessert at Raoul’s, we just weren’t ready for Sunday night to end. So, we decided to stop by Goldbar.* The place was HOPPING!* We ran into friends we hadn’t seen in a long time as well as Terrell Owens and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys who were ready to drink away their misery after their loss to the Giants.* Sunday has been one of my favorite nights for awhile now and this one is yet another testimony to its strength as a valid night life contender. 10. [Nick Cohen, Alexandra Richards, Alan Phillips. Photo by SCOTT from PMc] Go HERE for more pictures by Carolina and TAG YOURSELF in the Galleries. Friday night at the Hudson Hotel hosted a Halloween in Wonderland. Guests including Alexia Aidan, Sam Haber, David Chines, Kerry Cassidy, Alan Phillips, and Sheehan Raab enjoyed Lucid Absinthe and Red Bull cocktails as well as Leblon Caipirinhas, while they rocked out to DJ Nick Cohen, who spun throughout the night dressed in a lame gold outfit. Also on hand was DJ Cohen’s ex and fashionista Alexandra Richards, who made her musical debut dressed in an adorable 90’s Kurt Cobain throwback costume. Then again, she can probably pull off anything! There was even a performance by burlesque star Madame Rosebud; although, it was hard to tell she wasn’t in costume! More story and pictures below… Other guests included Caroline Copley,* Suki Labarre, Lizzie Ripps, and Maggie Gray who looked on while the Retro Kidz (who I met last summer* and absolutely loved) did a 90’s throw-back dance/rap off. I even had a personal rap made about my Yankees costume. (Note to self: team-affiliated costumes are controversial.) The place was packed until the wee hours of the morning, with some crazy costumes and even crazier dance moves.* This party was so hot, two GofG interns, Carolina and Maggie, stopped by with their friends.* Carolina gave us this report: Due to prior commitments, and Halloween travel congestion, our entrance to the Hudson Hotel’s Halloween party was well past midnight (luckily we didn’t turn into pumpkins!). Not to fear, the party was definitely was still going strong, although the super sticky floor was a sign that the night’s earlier festivities were just as good. Costumes ranged from amazing group efforts to a sad Wall Street man to topless dancers (of course, Halloween is when you’re allowed to walk around naked). DJ Nick Cohen was playing some great twist and Elvis songs, which added to the wacky, fun feel of the night. Guests were friendly, dancing like crazy, and having a great time with the costumed bartenders. Shouldn’t bartenders always be dressed up? It’s great to get your drink from Zorro. Though we had missed the absinthe, we ended the night by heading over to Schoolbreds where you can get your flaming (literally on fire) absinthe from Cleopatra (aka Monica) any day. 11. [Lydia Hearst's Masquerade Ball/Scott Buccheit's Bday] Go HERE for more photos from this event. Last Thursday, 1Oak played host to Lydia Hearst’s Masquerade Party.* Coincidentally it was also Scott Buccheit’s birthday (our good friend and well known GofG writer). EVERYONE was on hand to help him celebrate.* With a cake that we hear was recession-proof, and all of his friends in one place, the guy had quite a memorable bday.* I think we can safely say it was his best birthday yet, even with the mystery of his missing camera later that night. More photos below: More...
  12. Halloween in NYC is like New Years on steroids.* This is just one of the things we realized when trying to sort through the party invites over and over and over again. Though Halloween technically fell on Friday, the real party, at least for us, was this Thursday when Lydia Hearst hosted not one, but THREE grand bashes….she proved her humorous side going as a page six tabloid for the first half of the night. We spent part of the week reminiscing on Halloween’s past fromthe party at Cipriani, to the Central Park Conservatory Ball and Studio B….we even got inspiration by looking at the top socialite Halloween costumes over the years. In other news…. Rose Bar got some new art Mike Myers played make believe at The Box proving the space is still relevant, Scott and Naeem were up to their usual tricks, and managed to make it out this week all while planning the mega bash that was on Thursday with Lydia. A new pair of boys were taking on Manhattan, and we couldn’t get enough of these two Olympians. BlackBook’s party for Steve Lewis was “the biggest flashback he’s had since he licked that aluminum foil in the bathroom of Save the Robots.” Liam McMullan is finally legal! We helped ring in his 21st Birthday in style. The new and improved Cain Luxe opened its doors and we got some sneak pictures from opening night, fire marshalls and all. And, the most exciting news of the week?* We were nominated by Paper Magazine for best nightlife blog/website in their annual nightlife awars.* We are estatic and hope you all go vote for us! More...

  14. Tim Morehouse, Richie Rich, Jason Rogers at 1Oak Go HERE for more photos of Tim and Jason’s adventure. Yesterday, we introduced you to Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers, the cute Olympic silver medal fencers that are putting down their sabres to get to know the NYC social set for a bit.* They ended their night at 1Oak with Richie Rich (we must have JUST missed them!), but they put out a decent effort prior to that.* They started their night at the Italian clothing store, Eredi Pisaco store on Madison and were the guests of Edward Johnston-Balodis, (Ph.D) and Elena Chernousova who they had meet at the Sak’s “Key to the Cure” event.* Jason, being Italian, apparently made a good impression there because they were given gift bags with cashmere sweaters, shirts and ties.* Next stop: Davidoff’s. More story and photos below: The boys hit up Davidoff’s at just the right time.* People from the high end barber shop “Spiff’s” were there to give Tim a much needed pampering (shave and manicure), to start off his night right, while Jason was left talking up the store owner.* Next stop: The Time Warner Building for the Young Patrons of the Lincoln Center masquerade ball. At the event, in the Allen room, Tim and Jason did a walk down the red carpet in their masks before hobnobing with gossip girl’s Nicole Fiscella and Amanda. There was a bar on every floor (one was a new citrus vodka, one a rum bar, and one all champagne).* They watched as Uma Thurman presented an award to designer Zac Posen.* Afterwards they shared a conversation with Zac who was familiar with fencing from his alma mater St. Anne’s.* On to 1Oak before finally calling it a night! We look forward to hearing more from Tim and Jason as they document their adventures around Manhattan, and seeing Jason in his Wolverine costume! More...

  16. Go HERE for more photos from Scott and Naeem’s 3 day adventure. We’ve been surprisingly good boys for the last three days. We’ve been going to just as many events as usual, but we’ve been home by 11. Monday found us at the Blackbook welcomes Steve Lewis at Aspen Social. We serendipitously ran into Rachelle as we exited cabs and hit the event together. We ran into Steve Lewis first thing. He was holding court with Blackbook’s Cayte Grieve and owner Ari Horowicz. No sooner had we said our hello then Steve insisted on giving us all a tour. Once the tour was over we ran into Jen Gatien, Steve Kasuba and Debbie Harry. Having seen the host and the space we made our exits. Tuesday we first went to John Varvatos’s private dinner at Mario Batalli’s Italian Wine Merchants. The party was to commemorate the watch that John designed with Ernest Benz. We were greeted by Robert Fowler and ate some scrumptious pasta and juicy steak. We rushed out to make the next party at the IAC. The party sponsor was Audi and the hostess was the lovely Padma Lakshmi. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a promoter and in a few minutes we ran into… Click below for more story and photos: Bernie and Brady, Mark and Eugene, Chris Santos and Prince Moses. We chatted with Greg Link, Kristian Laliberte, Devorah Rose, Betsy Rudnick, TaraFougner, Jasmin Rosemberg and many others. The servers were dressed in what looked like Whitney Houston castoffs from the Queen of the Night Number in the movie the Bodyguard. We stayed for the Common performance and headed out. Wednesday night we felt charitable so we hit the PROJECTOVC for Ovarian Cancer Black Tie Masquerade at the Imperial. We ran into our old friend Erma Eliazov who was excited to tell us about her new bag line launching soon (look for more in this column soon). We also were profiled for “What to Wear” by Joseph Ungoco. Wyclef was the host and the hostess was the new Miss America, who’s name is escaping us now. We then jetted to Bowery for the Furla Party. The party was being handled by our friend Greg Link’s company Fingerprint. The PR Dive in charge was Sasa Nikolic and Tiny Tim Garcia was on hand for support. We ran into friend Jason Stavely and Richie Rich, shared a cocktail, a laugh and out we were. So besides today being Scott’s Birthday it is our first annual Masquerade party. We would like to thank in advance our sponsors, MAC, SKYY Vodka, Alex and Anni Jewelry and special thanks to Interview Magazine. We also want to thank our hostess Lydia Hearst Shaw, our DJ Angelos Styliano and the following people for being invaluable to us: Gillian Hearst Simonds, Christian Simonds, Eve Salvail, Susan Kilkenny,Eric Ray Davidson, Ilaria Urbinati, Nicolas Wagner, Tim Bitici, Sparrow, Matt Levine, Jason Lawrence, Michelle Jimenez, the Staff of the Eldridge, Marie LaFrance, Richie Rich, DJ Angelos Styliano, Scott Sartiano, Frank McHugh, Oren J, the staff of 1OAK, Renata Lopes-Merrian, Rachelle Hruska, Paul Brickman, Jarrod Turner, Megan Benson and probably many others that we are inadvertently forgetting for making, what we are sure will be, a special evening. We look forward to seeing some of you there tonight. The rest can read about it here tomorrow! [Happy Birthday Scott Buccheit!] [Halloween Guide Thursday Night] More...
  17. Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers with Lindsay Lohan Monday night at the Blackbook party for Steve Lewis at Aspen Social Club, we ran into two guys who were on a mission to temporarily live the life of New York socialites. Just fresh from the Olympics in Beijing, Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers have been spreading the residual joy, from receiving silver medals in fencing, all around New York’s hottest spots. They told Ari Cohen (our newest intern) that although their training schedules didn’t allow for going out, ever since they have gotten back to the states the two Olympians have been meeting people and making friends all around town. Their social schedule, lasting all week and sometimes weekends too, has them hitting up all of the best parties. So far they have hung out with Lindsay Lohan at the Key to the Cure event, The Bowlmore lanes 70th anniversary party with Michael Phelps, the opening of Lucky Strike Lanes, Richie Rich’s album release party at Citrine, and Bronso Arroyo’s party at Country Club.* They are set to go to the Young Patron’s of the Lincoln Center event tomorrow night, and Halloween plans? The sky’s the limit.* Scott and Naeem better watch out, there’s a new duo in town…but not for long, in a few weeks they’ll be back to training and they’ll be no time for partying. We will be following Tim and Jason during their NYC nightlife spree. Click below to learn more about these sexy fencers: Maggie Hunter, Tim Moorehouse, Cayte Grieve, Ari Cohen, Jason Rogers at BlackBook Party Tim Morehouse runs a blog called the Sword Life.* It keeps us updated on the pairs whereabouts.* Also, he’s been on msnbc where he talks about his love of the Dixie Chicks, his Teach for America days, and his go to karoke song “Every Rose has it’s thorn” of which he sings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d64dSdEJcM Jason Rogers tells us all about the sexy sport of fencing and why it’s relevant today in the video above. 23. [The Whitney Gala. Photo by Jamie Chiu] This week was one of our busiest yet.* With the opening of four new places on Thursday, we are still getting caught up from the parties. We started the week off right at the Whitney Gala and it’s after party at Rose Bar on Monday, where we mixed and mingled with NYC’s finest socials. What a night it was! This week was the start of the CMJ Music Festival, which met hipsters everywhere flocked to the LES to catch their favorite bands perform.* Seemed like a great time to coincide with the reconstruction of the most populated street, The Bowery. Tuesday, Scott and Naeem took on the US Weekly Hot Hollywood party toasting Zac Efron at Skylight Studios. Others tried their luck at the Erotic Photo hunt competition at the Village Pourhouse. Wednesday we popped our heads inside Ella’s, the lounge that is bringing Hollywood glamor to the LES.* Word on the street was that Whitney Port’s new show, “The City” was being filmed there that night.* Also that night, we hit up the opening party of the Huge Boss Concept store on West 14th Street. Cain Luxe’s highly anticipated debut happened on Thursday and we got the scoop from owner Jamie Mulholland days before.* Not even the fire alarms could stop the party when they went off on opening night. Also that night, Steve Lewis helped open the Aspen Social Club with a grand old party care of the Misshapes. The hottest bowling alley to land on the island, Lucky Strike Lanes opened with loads of people ready to strike out. AND Richie Rich debuted his new CD Celebutante, AND a new club: Citrine. And, as if we needed more things to do on Thursday night, Rachelle helped host the party at the Eldridge, in honor of the announcement of the Acria Jr. 2008-2009 Comittee. Besides that, this week Pink Elephant announced their New Year’s 2009 plans…who their “Ultra VIPS” will be is anyone’s guess, but it’s sure gonna cost you.* And, we popped into Mr. West’s on the West side highway to see how the crowd was faring. Phew!* October is shaping up to be the busiest month of the year.* Stay tuned this week for a recap of Liam McMullan’s Birthday (Friday night), and our Halloween Party guide. More...
