for the "relationship oriented" - about "spiritual partnerships"

for those into the concept of "serious" relationships, here are some quotes I really found enlightening and wanted to share (out of the kindness of my heart. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww):

"When you commit to a spiritual partnership with another human being, you begin to form and to live by the values, perceptions and actions that reflect equality with your partner and a commitment to his or her spiritual development and your own. You begin to set aside the wants of your "personality" in order to accomodate the needs of your partners' spiritual growth, and, in doing that, you grow yourself. That is how spiritual partnership works.

"You begin to see that what is necessary to the health of your partnership is identical with what is necessary for your own spiritual growth, that each of you holds the pices that the other is missing.

"Love and fear exclude each other. You cannot love and fear at the same time. There are times when you love your partner. Those are the times when you want to support her. You delight in his growing strength. Her vulnerabilities bring out your most caring tenderness. This is how we were meant to be with each other. It is natural to love.

"There are also times when you are frightened. You fear what he will say or do next, or what you will say or do. You want to remain together and you are frightened that you will separate. You fear that you will not be able to give her what she needs, or that she will not be able to do that for you.

"It may be that you are able to love others more consistently because they are not close enough to you to stimulate your fears the way that your partner does. This is good. Spiritual partnership is partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. Spiritual growth requires finding and healing your fears. If your partnership didn't bring up your fears, it couldn't help you grow.

"You are together to learn how to love. Your fears show you what you need to work on. They are what needs to be changed. you know that your spiritual partnership is working when it brings up your fears. It would not be working if it didn't."
