Admission: $15 before 11 p.m. | $20 after 11 p.m.

Drum ‘n’ Bass will always have a home in the front room at Buzz, but its resurgent popularity has allowed this musical genre’s DJs to explore new territories with their sound. Back in May, Dieselboy destroyed Buzz’s main room for the Planet of the Drums tour. It’s definitely our honor to open up a regular main room slot to America’s premier drum ‘n’ bass don and one of Buzz’s finest residents DJ’s. The other drum ‘n’ bass DJ’s on this night will perform in the front room.

The warm weather brings out the Honeynut Bee in all of us, particularly Scott Henry’s Bit O' Honey DJ sets on the outdoor multi-level patio -- a summertime Buzz tradition. Scott spins all night from midnight 'til dawn, new tunes & classics... you'll hear them all under the stars with a bee’s-eye view of our Nation's Capitol. Mr. Henry will be out on the patio on the first Friday of every month during the summer.

The breaks revolution has achieved another glorious victory! Two-thirds of Buzz (the front room and the patio) will be dedicated tonight to the funky breakbeat sound! Plus, it’s our bi-monthly Fever Reunion night with Feelgood and Scott Henry in the main room.

Moving Shadow, Botchit and Scarper, All Good Records and LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records have all been graced by Aquasky’s cutting edge production innovations. Musically, their styles span every facet of the breakbeat landscape from D ‘n’ B to breaks. Aquasky (pronounced “aqua – SKYâ€) have published over 40 releases in the last 12 years and rate as one of the most prolific recording artists in the history of global beat culture. Check out their new, highly-acclaimed, tuff-as-nails fourth album, “Beat The System†out on Botchit and Scarper.

Shimmy Shakes is one of the vanguard promotional crews in the DC breakbeat scene. From Buzz afterhours to their own special events, these guys have established themselves with an impressive roster of breaks DJ’s, two of whom are part of the successful Solid Breaks tour this summer.

FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2002: BIG BAD BASS TOUR -- DILLINJA & LEMON D. | “KOOL ICE†CRYOGENICS PARTY

Admission: $15 before 11 p.m. | $20 after 11 p.m.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Nation has installed a permanent cryogenics system in the club. Last month’s cryo party was spot on, and there is NO better way to let off steam in the summer months, than with a disorienting, arctic blast of dense frozen fog that cloaks the club, tingles your skin and warps the light show. We’ll crank out the cryogenics once per month, so mark your calendars...

Who is Meat Katie? This label boss, producer and DJ has a rich musical history from playing in bands, managing and promoting, recording for Wall of Sound (as Ceasefire), recording for R&S Records (as Avenue A), running W9Y and putting out consistent quality records as Meat Katie. His guest spots have taken him across the UK & Europe, he has compiled mixes for Kiss FM & XFM. His music has been highly critically acclaimed by DJ's and press alike and have had consistent airplay from Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show. Meat Katie is certainly one of the established breakbeat producers who are breaking down boundaries and finding acceptance on the dancefloor from house and breaks crowds alike.

Music is changing both in the U.S. and around the globe.

Drum 'n' bass and nu skool breaks are finding increasingly popularity, as well as electroclash and other sounds.

Dieselboy sells more CDs than ANY other American DJ, regardless of subgenre of music. Obviously, this advantage entitles him to the main room.

Remember music is changing. We must evolve...

as far as i know sans means without. this seems too good to be true. i wonder how the artists began to know that the mcs all suck and all sound alike? or is this the only case where we wont see the mcs. i hope that they are pretty much gone for good. lyrics is one thing, but "come on dc, put your hands" 100 times is another.

No MC's!!!!! Now that would be very interesting..... that is my only complaint about DnB.... If I wanted to listen to some guy yell in a mic I would go to a rap concert thank you......

but I still can't make it.... too broke :(

Oh yeah...... Think Buzz could bring back Alex Whalen and D:Fuse?? Sometime??? (had to help the cause you know......)

hehe... Yeah sans means "without"

Basically, MC's do sound all alike. They tend to be very difficult to work with and disrespectful to the sound tech and the club's sound system.

And they're an added fee, travel expense and hotel room.

Buzz is trying to cut back on MC's -- not 100% no more MC's, but definitely a reduced volume of MC's. Our crowd doesn't like them, they're too difficult to work with and they're expensive!

I may be checking out the front room more even when there aren't breaks.

Sounds like my ex-girlfriend.

What about Rhyme Tyme? Will he still be coming around? I think he's the Yin to Ed Rush and Optical's Yang. Or is it Yang to their Yin? Anyhow, I actually like his nonsense. Not that I'm a huge D&B head or anything, but I like those three. They're badass.

Ryme Tyme is one of the exceptions. He's part of the whole Virus tour with Ed Rush and Optical. Yin or Yang he'll still be at Buzz.

Very well put. He worked hard to get where he is now. The only other DnB Dj that I can think that spun in the main room was Goldie. He definitely deserved it. That night (one of the planet of the drums night last year I think), I've never seen so many fists pumping in the air in the main room before. Great idea with sticking goldie in there Buzzcrew.
