globalgirl
WMC is around the corner, and its time to give our hometown heroes some credit. Here is my list:top 5 local djs1. Markus Schulz (well, I HAVE to put him at #1)2. Oscar G (I always liked the Murk sound even back in the 90's)3. Ivanno Bellini (Hey, I am a girl, and his music is....you know...girly4. George Acosta (I love his new cd, music with melodies for me)5. Edgar V (Again melodies)top 5 local producers1. Markus Schulz (see above, plus did you know, he also sometime uses the name Dakota, "Lost in Brixton"(Deep Dish Global Underground) and "Swirl" (John Digweed's Bedrock CD) and his song "You Won't See Me Cry" made me cry.2. Thomas Penton (Amazing stuff!)3. Austin Leeds (Love his sound too)4. Southside (Edgar V doing tribal)5. Robbie Rivera (He is local isn't he?) mrmovement33
top 5 in quality of track selection & dj'ing skills.1. DJ Roland......the king of the space terrace......eventhough global girl digs bellini......the girlie music comment made me smile. girlie music is actually not bad when i am there with a young lady listening to it. alone, it tends to not really interest me as much.2. Ariel Baund.......a progressive masterpiece3. Edgar V.......a true pioneer quality music for many years4. Oscar G..... put miami on the map when it comes to house music5. DJ Stryke......funky grooves make me dancegirlie music......lol.....i enjoy watching girls dance to girlie music
Guest saleen351
1. tsettos2. og3. stryke4. ms5. rolandthough i do have complaints about all of them, like MS's trance, and ogs lack of vox, and rolands lack of energy for the first 3 hours, and strykes lack of ablility to draw big crowds and tsettos for not producing more... CHRles
On the production front I'd probably put:Murk/Funky Green DogsMarkus SchulzRobbie RiveraGeorge AcostaTracy Young/Jasp 182 (tie)On the DJ tip it depends. Is Dave Ralph still living in Miami? Is Noel Sanger back to living in the area? If so, I'd definitely include them.I think in terms of technical skills I'd put Stryke at the top, then Oscar G., Markus, Edgar V. (very well thought out Trance sets that carry out flawlessly), and Stingray (nice Tribal oriented sets)In terms of personal favorite local DJs, sorry but I'll post 10 instead of 5:George AcostaEdgar V.Markus SchulzOscar G.Ariel BaundRolandGeorge AlvaradoDavid PadillaStingrayGarfield

jcbliss
abraham, thankyou so much for your kind words.. people like you make being in the music biz fun! to be honest, I've been working quite a bit for my family at our hotel the SHELBORNE in south beach.. Ive also been working on getting the upcoming bliss 12"'s ready for release. As far as djing, I've played frequently in the dominican rep. as well as a trip to germany and too peru over the past few months.. I'd love to play locally soon though.. I would even do it for free just for my love of the music.. My last miami gig was crobar with dave seaman in Nov.. what an awsome night that was - as for conf.. I am playing at the radio 1 event as well as at the perfecto party.. should be pretty cool... send me an email with your contacts mate = Jonnyk1@aol.com and I will definitely give you a ring and catch up... Once again, thanks for the support and let me know if you know of any local events or anything I may be able to play...talk soonJ"LONG LIVE BLISS"
