Do you think Senior Vazques is a sell out?

Recommended Posts

Is advertising on KTU wrong? Is having Kevin Aviance doing ads fine, or is it just as bad as the borderline homeless people selling burned cd's on 34th street?

Is his career OFFICIALLY dead? Is he even alive or is it like 'weekend at Juniors'.

i need answeres,

What other changes are u talking about cause NYC which was once the capital of dance music and clubbing is wayyyyyyyyy off now...miami is definitely in my opinion the capital of clubbing...they also have party 93 down there which kicks asssssss...we need something like a Radio 1 or Galaxy 105 like the UK has where people from all over the world listen in via the Internet...NYC has 3 of the most world renowned DJ's...if u go to Ibiza the frigin craziest party place in the world 3 names are synonomous with NYC...Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo...one of those guys should get a damn radio show and put NY back on the map...KTU plays songs that real dance heads laugh at...one thing that pisses me off more than anything is why the hell is that Oscar G and Ralph Falcon (MURK) song which is called Dark Beat referred to on KTU as Addicted to Drums by Dark Beat...what the F is that all about

The reason KTU is the way it is, was because of him, so who knows what will happen now...

If the power is given to the right person, we could phesibly have an off the hook dance station in NY....but there is also the possiblity that we might not. Depends on what happens.

Oh also the reason they switched the Dark Beat name is because Murk switched the name to Addicted to Drums before it was officially released.

To Jovanls400...Miami does appreciate dance music but they don't really dig the house too much down there...they are waaay more into trance.

Miami is cool, cause we have lots of options. lauderdale gets lost in the mix, but GA lives here and is gonna do monthly lauderdale party, and in lauderdale, you can drink on the streets and they serve on the streets, and big things comming. Miami is blowing up soon, and sobe is just nigga hell with exception to maze.. Which is doing decent..

But hands down Space (new club sucks by the way) and the Colliseium in Lauderdale get all the talent, but the Colliseium is purely a gay club.. Jr spins there, with PR and VC etc...

Nocturnal and the beach are right next store to space, and they hate each othere. beach is open but not done, and nocturnal looks like a bomb hit it... But with all threw with 24 hour serving, its gonna be good.. Chicago guys own both nocturnal and the beach.... the beach has a nexo alpha that i heard kicks ass...

And on the dark beat thing, its an issue with the label and stations... Murk asked the stations to stop only using ogs name and shit like that, and as far as I know, the name never changed...

And 93.1 has a new show with edgar v late night, check the miami board for set times, you can listen to it live ove the internet...

i don't know, if ktu tries to go underground, it will only contribute to the commercialization of the scene. i think its too big and makes too much $$ to change over.

i think there should be an underground dance music station, but, maybe a new one, or just a smaller one. NOT KTU

A New Underground Station in NY is easier said than done. Radio Transmitters in New York go for huge money 10's of Millions of dollars for even a weak AM Signal.

(I am a music consultant for a rival company of KTU's Parent Company Clear Channel Media)

KTU is not going to go "Underground" but the music will be a little more balls-ey not as much crap. I think they may add the occasional club hit to the rotation and get a little more "Underground" with the Mix Show DJ's.

Let me tell all you people something. Junior is probably the best house music D.J. ever. He's making a "career move" going to "KTU" . granted ExiT aint Palladium or Twilo, (twilo was a dump by the way) but if we all remember correctly, we go out to hear the music...dance our asses off and be amongst our friends. All of a sudden, people like18- 22 years old are talking about how good Twilo or Palladium were. You have no idea!!!!!! you were 14-15 yrs old when that was open. 1996-2000 were probably the best years for house music so far, try talking positive about the parties and maybe bringing a positive vibe , instead of a ton of drugs. It was never about the drugs. Its about the music & "JUNIOR" is the most entertaining D.J. I have ever seen & I've been everywhere. NYC is where its at and always will be.Give Junior a chance and he will rock your body, gay, straight, black, white, red , yellow. etc.

Fight for your right to party.

B-:mad::D:(;)

KTU (or any other station for that matter) could never go too underground...so no worries...it's radio, there needs to be a good amount of commercialism in the music otherwise it doesn't fly, and not enuf ppl listen, the advertisers lose money, the radio station loses money, and the corporate companies who own them lose money too so no one is happy.

They can however, get a little bit edgier as mattm20 said. Shouldn't be too hard of a task given the playlist now...

Thing about this scene is people complain that KTU sucks, it's cheesy and plays crap, but then the mention of a possible kick ass dance station is mentioned and no one wants that either because then too many of the general public will be exposed to it and then supposedly it will become mainstream.

You can't have your cake and eat it too here.

And besides most the underground tracks everyone likes around here will never make it to radio unless it's on a mixshow at like 5 am, when we are the only ones listening anyway.

And Junior having a mixshow is not a bad thing...he IS a good dj who can add some flavor to the bland airwaves, even if it is for afterhours.

I understand all that...and it was quite an impressive light show ...BUT....that wasn't what i was talking about. I just hear alot of negativity lately about clubbing. juNIOr is still rocking and there arent many appropriate venues for Djs like him to spin at but right now exit & this week roxy will have to do. So all im saying is that people should try to bring that POSITIVE VIBE that used to be out there. I mean if we (the clubbers) are dissing it......its only going to get worse.

OK But Junior himself brings a pissy attitude. He has been known not to spin well if the crowd is too 'straight', too many 'women' and 'eurotrashy'. He also been known not to spin AT ALL--prerecorded mixes play for the crowd.

So WHY is he advertising on KTU??

Is THIS what Miss Junior wants?

I DONT THINK SO

i see what your saying. i would welcome an underground station, just not ktu. even if they get edgier. they have their core of 14-15 year olds listening for britney or christina and then to put on edgier tracks after them just doesn't seem right to me

i am so happy you are affliated with a rival of clear channel!

thats awesome! i hate them!

but about comparing to radio 1.....

i dont know if many people realize this, but the UK is socialist, and the radio is subsidized by the government, so they dont have to concentrate as much on advertising revenue in order to operate (at least thats how i understand it)

so theres really no way to have that in good ol linkin park/britney/nelly USA

He does bring a pissy attitude sometimes and many of his 'outside his realm' ventures have failed but I must say there have been some great moments. in Miami for instance he was amazing last time. I don't think that exit is primarily gay.I think it is like 65% gay and the rest straight on sunday mornings and he plays hard house music that is appealing to people who like to dance. Your focus on whether he's playing for the straight crowd or the gay crowd @ this point is pointless. If you remember @ Twilo the crowd was EXTREMEMLY mixed, straight, gay , female, whatever.....and it rocked, The only all gay venue superclub is Roxy and thier D.J.s are at best OK ever since Vic Calderone left (an extremely talented DJ) so, I think that Junior isnt a sell out. i think he is tring to become more marketable musically. The emphasis on being underground at this point is minimal considering his above average mixing and producing skills I.E. justin timberlakes new song on KTu all the time...remix by Junior V., Do i think his radio show will last ? That is a great questions because the arguement is in your eyes is whether or not hos music caters to one group more than another at this point......we shall see. He still remains to me to be a pleasure on my eardrums. No one is even close to him. He fucking rox!!!!

Junior's not a sellout! Junior does what the hell he wants, whenever the hell he wants! If you know anything about Junior, it's that he marches to the beat of his own drum. Whatever he doees he does because he wants to. There's no selling out with Junior and you can take that to the bank.

Exit Sundays is much more than 65% gay. My bro (who is straight) says it's like 90% gay and like 80% - 90% male too. Not much mass appeal there people... Beats and music though are BANGIN'!!!

As I said an underground station will not be coming soon. Their core isn't Teenagers either, their demographic is 25-45 yearold females, hispanic females, and gay men 35-55. If you don't like their product nobody is forcing you to listen. Their doing quite fine in the $$$ department doing what their doing right now. Their sales department keeps rackin in the bucks, and their ratings (Although not the higehst they have been) stay consistint.
