Destiny
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.I love thee to the depth and breadth and heightMy soul can reach, when feeling out of sightFor the ends of being and ideal grace.I love thee to the level of every day'sMost quiet need, by sun and candle-light.I love thee freely, as men strive for right.I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.I love thee with the passion put to useIn my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.I love thee with a love I seemed to loseWith my lost saints. I love with the breath,Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,I shall but love thee better after death.~Elizabeth Barrett BrowningI'm sure everyone knows this poem. I've heard it a million times and it never gets old
phatman
...dali is prob my favorite...the museum in st pete florida is incredible...some of the pieces up here i have had at some point as prints in my last apartment...on the starry night piece...i cant help but hear the song...Starry, starry nightPaint your palette blue and greyLook out on a summer's dayWith eyes that know the darkness in my soulShadows on the hillsSketch the trees and daffodilsCatch the breeze and the winter chillsIn colours on the snowy linen landNow I understandWhat you tried to say to meAnd how you suffered for your sanityAnd how you tried to set them freeThey would not listenThey did not know howPerhaps they'll listen nowStarry, starry nightFlaming flowers that brightly blazeSwirling clouds and violet hazeReflect in Vincent's eyes of china blueColours changing hueMorning fields of amber grainWeathered faces lined in painAre soothed beneath the artists' loving handNow I understandWhat you tried to say to meAnd how you suffered for your sanityAnd how you tried to set them freeThey would not listenThey did not know howPerhaps they'll listen nowFor they could not love youBut still your love was trueAnd when no hope was left insideOn that starry, starry nightYou took your life as lovers often doBut I could have told you VincentThis world was never meant for one as beautiful as youLike the strangers that you've metThe ragged men in ragged clothesThe silver thorn of bloody roseLie crushed and broken on the virgin snowNow I think I knowWhat you tried to say to meAnd how you suffered for your sanityAnd how you tried to set them freeThey would not listenThey're not listening stillPerhaps they never will... ghhhhhost
wow whAt a thread.... and on bump!!!!i love the arts..i used to spend hours in the Met solo...time used to fly by...im not bein a herb or anythin but Nadim's pic that he sold was off the chain...even though im not too much of a fan of modern ish...or wherever u choose to classify Nadim;s work..i cant post shit from this comp here...but my fav artist is no one else but the genius of the northern rennaissance Albrecht Durer...the man is amazing..from prints..to sketches to paintings to etchings...this guy truly was amazing...St Jerome in his Study is one of the works i admire most by him...not to mention the print of the 4 Horsemen of the Appocalypse which he did by hand!!!! AMAZING!!!a close 2nd to me has to be Seurat. his A Day On The Grand LaJette isnt too awe inspring..but the amount of work that was put into the painting itself merits respect...his pointilism technique is mindblowing...considering the amount of effort..planning...patience..and skill it took to complete such a piece...the raft of the medusa...death of socrates(MET)..rape of the sabine women(MET)...the merchants (in britains national art museum)...the harvesters(MET)...and all watercolors by Hokusai are amongst my favorite...Dali is def. a master....but unfortunately too many know-nothings dick ride him and picasso just because theyre famous names

Destiny
Anything with the arts, i fall in love with...from writings, to sculpture to paintings ...Dali..definitely a genius btw (i.e. Aphrodite de Cnide)My fav classic movie..."Gone with the wind"...yes i know corny, but definitely amazing nonetheless. It's art;) Normal Rockwell...simple, yet absolutely perfect the way he managed to capture a generation in his own waysand btw...my computer:pissy: I hate when I try to talk to people about art, interpreting a painting and such and they look at me with this glazed look in their eye or give me a "wha?" I think too many people are wrapped up in TV and garbage movies to realize true art
