rudeboyyouth
Over the past few years, house music (and almost all EDM for that matter) has been more and more scarce on the Island, and has been taking somewhat of a backseat to hip-hop, both on the radio and in local nightclubs. MattM2o, Dj Rob James, Jesse, and others have been working hard to establish an underground venue right here on Long Island called "Nation." For the past few months, Nation, a friday night party, was located in Commack, NY, at the corner of Commack Road & Jericho Turnpike. As of recently, the party has moved to Coda Lounge at 69 Wall Street in Huntington Village, NY. Those of you who frequented Nation over the past few months know very well what kind of venue it is, and you also know the type of djs who've spun for the crowd - Rob James, Razor, Mike Macaluso & Peter Bailey, Johnny Vicious, Low End Specialists, Chris & Kai, Dj Boris, Dj Hurricane, Sheldon Romero, Anthony Nero, Eddie Baez, and Dj Merritt for the Asseteria roadshow. Even on nights where no special guest djs are booked, there is literally an armada of local underground talent on hand to turn shit out for the crowd. The few of you on this board who know me know that I'm not a member of the Nation staff, and that I'm not being paid to promote for the club. I am, however, a very strong supporter of parties that actually try to keep something special like this alive on the Island. I definitely want something like this to stay in my own backyard, and there's absolutely no reason why that can't be possible. There's absolutely no reason why residents of L.I. should have to cross the East River every Friday night to enjoy some real fuckin music, and have to deal with petty, bullshit drama at the door, pricey admissions, and unnecessarily strict dress codes. I hope to see all of Nation crew at the new location, and I also expect to see all of those who've been dying for a night like this to return to the Island. Fuck all the cynical bullshit about how much L.I. sucks, and how there are no real house music parties on the Island - let's show our love for the one party that is trying to bring something real back to Long Island. The party continues as of Friday, April 16th at Coda Lounge. Dj Boris will be kicking things off, and Rob James will be hopping on the one and two's around 4 a.m. Dress Code is non-existent, admission is cheap, afterhours are in effect, age limit is strictly 21+, and the music.......well, just come and listen for yourself. No shit talking needed, but you will not be dissapointed. Hope to see many of you on the 16th.

kutekimee
Hey Rudy!! When are we going to Houston's??? lol....Yeah, like I said before, Huntington Village is a lot more like it! Wait till the weather gets warmer and people will be out and about in the streets! It's a cute little area with lots of bars, restaurants, and shops. Anyway...yeah, I'm glad it moved...Commack was too far. The venue was super nice, but too much of a drive.I'm more of a trance fan, but the tunes at Nation are actually really good... I'm sure the vibe inside of Coda for Nation fridays will be nice and intimate, which works out perfectly for the Nation crowd. And Kim, glad to see you're going to "pencil" me in! That way, you can erase me if something else pops up!! I'm sure you'll be having loads of fun at the seminar. Let me know how it goes! rudeboyyouth
Rob, Matt, and the rest of the crew - I'll see you guys tomorrow night. I've been itching to hear some wicked shit since the mishap with the Commack spot. Rob, kill us with a few dark, bottom-heavy tracks tomorrow night.
