drsatan
ok-heres the situation. i have a old/clunker of a car that i use for the majority of my job. i drive a lot/do a lot of stops and starts and basically beat the shit out of it. almost 3 years ago i bought a 92 merc sable that had 75 thousand miles. i paid 1900 for it it now has 120,000. in the past 2 years ive put close to 1300 into the car on repairs. today the radiator sprung a leak-ive got to replace it-its gonna cost about 180bucks. should i do the repair or just get another used car?...what do you think i should do? jeffy1
you have to ask, can i replace the car for a 180, if not fix it otherwise you have to make the call. good luck

ReLiK
buy the radiator yourself for about $80-$90 bucks maybe...and find a buddy to help you do the labor. Not a big job...shouldn't take too long to do
skywalker01
vote for kerry....the economy will improve, allowing you to get a better job and in turn you will be able to afford a car with a warranty...or vote for bush and invest in a nice huffy
drsatan
lol...my question really wasnt a dollars and cents question, as such. my question was really one of being indecisive of choosing between repairing a older car or saying f*ck it and buying another one. for the record: i am a physical therapist and i own a home care company. i travel over 400 miles a week to see patients. most of my patients are in the worst neighborhoods. on many levels, it has not been a wise idea to use a "nice" car for my job. my small, yet, well directed company has fortunately allowed me the ability to be able to own a SUV to handle large jobs, a BMW for liesure and a clunker to complete my patient visits. however- since you brought up bush vs. kerry, let me say this. part of the reason i am able to have 3 cars is that under bush, small businesses like mine have been allowed to keep more of the money that we earn, so........ A few factors I would consider before buying a new one to replace what you have:When was the last time you had a problem with it?How's the transmission? How's the AC?If you pay the $180, do you think it would last you a good while before somethingelse goes wrong??I think of saving dough anyway I can.If I can ride the fuck out of it until it goes KAPUT, I'd do it just to save the flowand use it for other things.Good luck!
