sabster
I am going to Vegas for NYE what would be the best option for that night? It is my first time going there, any other advice would be appreciated!
BillLe
Stay off the Strip is my only suggestion. Once the clock strikes 12:01 it is utter chaos. As for clubs, we'll have to wait and see what all the options are.

outofthebox
Jadakiss live performance at OPM (Caesars forum shops) on NYE. Expect the usual celebrity packed Saturday night crowd, including NBA, Boxers, hip-hop artists, etc. More info to come but suffice it to say that if you're not in by 10pm, chances are you will not get in period. With the grand opening of Pure in the other side of the forum shops on NYE, expect Caesars to become a traffic magnet for loads of club people! BillLe
Anxious to see Pure. My friends will be working that spot.
outofthebox
35,000 sq feet = Pure. And I think they are going after 54's crowd by branding Tuesday nights. Should be interesting. Forum shops not only have one of the best locations in Vegas, but now will offer two hot nightclubs for all types of crowds. Very exciting times for all of us who are involved in the industry over there!FYI, OPM is really gaining momentum for the late Sunday night local crowd who love hip hop r&b and reggae. If you haven't been there, come check it out Sunday night 1am on. Great party, east coast flava.
BillLe
Isn't the Verdugo (Drais, Seven) guy setting something up for afterhours at OPM?I hope Pure does do a Tues night. That night sucks here in Vegas. Also now with Dragon closed, I think Mix will try to do a Wed industry night as well.
BillLe
Club Rubber @ OrleansCLUB RUBBER’S NEW YEARS WEEKEND!This New Years weekend, 2005, Club Rubber is bringing it back to the ultimatenew years destination. Vegas baby, VEGAS!Club Seven and the incredible Orleans Arena will play host to Spiritworld’stwo biggest New Years parties ever! Friday night at Club Seven and Saturdaynight at the Orleans Arena. Till the sun comes up...and beyond. We’re not called the “King of Clubs†for nothin’!
outofthebox
Yes, I just found out Verdugo is going to launch "AM at OPM" on New Years Eve. It will take place every Fri and Sat late night and will feature big name DJs -- I believe featuring electronic music instead of OPM's usual hip-hop. Things will get really interesting with all the Caesars developments...
BillLe
Electronic invades OPM. Now this I gotta see. Might be a nice migration of people from Pure over to OPM for after hours. That can be the only logic in doing after hours at a well known hip-hop spot.

discoballs
this new years will be my first time to vegas, where should we go for dinner, party, etc? I saw the events listed above but the dj names aren't really mentioned. Any help is greatly appreciated.
BillLe
There aren't that many headlinging dj's that will be playing in town. Maybe 3 tops. As for dinner on NYE, most restaurants are only taking reservations for their best casino guests, plus it is going to cost an arm and a leg. outofthebox
With the exception of the electronic music niche (and maybe even including that niche), most resident djs know how to keep their crowds happier than a big name out of town dj. Most club patrons don't realize that the Vegas dj is like a multilingual translator. Vegas djs need to know how to please people from all around the country - and even international guests -because each weekend brings in a totally different crowd than the last weekend. Most out of town djs specialize in regional music and are not as well equipped as the people who do it for a living in a transient town like Vegas. speedydemone
All in all- make sure you have tickets to somewhere- if you don't then you will probably be left in the cold. Not too mention Strip madness.

Most out of town djs specialize in regional music and are not as well equipped as the people who do it for a living in a transient town like Vegas.Once again I feel this is directed towards the electronic dj and electronic community. Yes the electronic music scene here is a bit lax, but no doubt when there is a big headlinging electronic dj who comes into town there is a huge draw. Club Rubber almost always uses an electronic dj. Ask why? Only electronic dj's can pull in patrons from different areas. Scribble or Green Lantern will never pull someone from Europe or NY or CA or even mid-west Ohio. Tell everyone Tiesto is in town and you get people from all over the world migrating just to see him. If that's not a multi-lingual translator I don't know what is. But I must digress as the US has no culture other than that is pop culture.
outofthebox
No it wasn't a shot. Just saying if you go to Vegas for NYE don't worry about the DJs. The residents will keep you happy at all the top spots And you'll be so wasted you won't know the difference anyway.

outofthebox
And if so, the women sing and dance to the songs they know, and then everyone gets drunk and laid. What a terrible thing, huh
leftymo
I know this is a very silly question to ask, but are there any affordable places to hit up for new years?100 bucks minimum is a bit rough, unless I get lucky at the craps table or something.Especially with a bunch of my friends... I think the plan is to have the party in the suites...but...maybe a street thing? I know its mad chaos, but is there any other option? Lounges? speedydemone
Bikini's is charging 50 bucks a pop for presold tickets. get em early. Besides if any time of the year it is worth it to pay a little extra for tickets it is NYE. I have never regretted it.
outofthebox
Well the strip itself is free and will be nuts with all the fireworks and party people. But the clubs are all about supply and demand. There are only so many people a club can fit so they set the price as high as they can when they believe they can still sell it out and have a capacity crowd.
