Who is Jonathan Peters?

I am a spiritual Man who lives his life with the belief in karma. I live to write and produce songs from my heart and soul to share with the world. And I will turn your ass on the dance floor.

What has the music meant to you?

Music has saved my life. I love it, live it, and I’m its slave. It makes me feel all my emotions. And I learn from it everyday. I cannot live without it and will always try to find a new meaning in it. I do music and music does me.

What's the first piece of music you ever played?

I was into straight up Zeppelin, Doors, Hendrix, Blondie and Lou Reed. Then one day I discovered Disco and became a DJ.

Who’s the most feared DJ?

I guess I am from a different school, where I am from DJing is an art. The art of making people dance and feel wonderful. Being able to take a person on a journey for hours with how you work the sound system and records. The only battle at my party might be on the dance floor between two queens. If there is a DJ that is doing his own thing and is not just playing records, it shows, especially in time. If you know how to control a vibe and keep people in the room loving it for 12-24 hours, this man is not feared, he is loved. In my eyes there are only a chosen few who are truly great, and time proves it…and I’m sure they feel just like me.

Is NYC the center of the universe?

Yes it is. You have to look at it like this. NYC is the most incredible city and the melting pot of the world. Every race, religion…the best of the best to the worst of the worst is here. As being a native New Yorker living in West Village I have been exposed to many, many, many things at a young age. So as I got older I have a little bit from everything. Being a DJ from NYC plus everything I have been exposed to is why I can write good songs, and is why I am the man that I am.

What are the essentials everyone needs for the upcoming Miami music week?

Just bring your love for dance music and a good open mind to new sounds and you bathing suit for the pool party

What makes it so good?

For everybody that knows me, knows I love my fans. In NYC where I play it’s always indoors. So I knew that it would be a treat for everybody to get a chance to hear me play during the day and be outside with all the fresh air. At first I knew it would be weird for me because of sound limitations, no Disco lights, no smoke. But thanks to my fans I felt right at home

What are you bringing to the party?

MY Records, my computer, and lot’s of love

Any truth to the rumor of making your pool party a classics?

No there's not. To me WMC is were you play new music for people to hear.

Do you have anything up your sleeve or in your bag of tricks for the pool party?

Come on silly what do u think.

Why do you think your fans are so committed to you?

When I was DJing at Sound Factory I played there for 7 years. I never once missed a Saturday night. I played no less than 13 hours and up to 27 hours. My fans know I keep it real. When I approach a party, it’s exactly that, A PARTY! Over 20 years of DJing I’ve learned how to work, rock, twist up, freak, turn, or whatever you call it, to all styles of dance music, Hard rocking beats, deep house, vocals, tribal, trance, tech, dark, soulful, and let the list go on. I’ve been known to work a record up to 30-40 minutes and make you still scream for more. I make special tracks for one party and never play them again. I approach it as a listening journey, but I’ve been told it feels more like a rollercoaster. I try very hard to give you the experience you came for. After many years of listening my fans know the difference in what a DJ can do. That’s why they are the most crazy loyalists, loudest, insane people, because we grew up together... I taught them dance music, and they’ve taught me overflowing love.

Do you feel like the Captain of the Starship? I feel like a very lucky blessed man...... that can drive your starship

What projects are in the works for Jonathan Peters, music or otherwise?

I have an album coming out on Ultra records so I am writing and producing that presently. I am a producer who is going to make the Stars of the next decade. In my desk drawer I have a bunch of songs that I have written. And will continue to write. When I find the right singer I will make her a star. Then do it again.

Tell us one gig you would love to play?

The Pimp ‘n Ho Costume Ball in Las Vegas Labor Day weekend. The reason, every year I do my party in Vegas is with all the New York people, and they [Pimp ‘n Ho crew] do theirs with all the LA people.

I pick that party because I strive on bringing people together, and NY-LA together will be something never done. I really respect that they make the party fun and special. In NYC I do the same with my parties in a different way. If I would do a classis party in Vegas on Labor Day it’d be sick!!! Just to see the mix of all NYC people and all the LA peeps together in one room…now that would be legendary. Stay tuned???

How do you do it…the marathon sets? What fuels the machine?

honestly, we booked her to attract those that donn't know jp or his music to come to a pool party where there aer some hot chicks, who just happen to be porn stars, hosting.

if you ask me what that means exactly, i haven't yet figured it out.

i doubt she will be there when jp goes on at 11am so she won't be getting on the mic to announce him...and i'm sure he won't want her breaking in to his set at all.
