January 19: the Low End Specialists.

w/ Dave Rosario (afterhours)

The Low End Specialists are NYC based duo Mac Clark and Ali Geramian. They have rapidly been rising to the top of the charts and decks in clubland. Purveyors of the latest underground sound, Mac and Ali constantly remain on the cutting edge of underground house music both in the studio and on the decks while remaining true to their tribal roots. Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, DJ Vibe, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Howells are among the industry heavy-weights who have been supporting them since their arrival on the scene. Their regular guesting at Danny Tenaglia's weekly Be Yourself residency led to them establishing their own weekly residency at the well renowned Centro-Fly for over a year. With a new year comes new changes and with the closing of Centro-Fly and Arc, 2004 and 2005 saw the guys playing at New York mainstays Crobar, Cielo and Spirit. Now in 2006 they have begun to hold down a regular night at Guesthouse where they pull off 7 hour sets on Thursday nights to an amazing crowd while maintaing their tour schedule. Now in 2007 they play Stereo (555 west 33 St btw 10&11aves).

They have produced & remixed records for Virgin, EMI, Astralworks, Sanctuary, Yoshitoshi, Little Mountain and Bedrock Records to name but a few. They have remixed artists from every spectrum of music including but not limited to Janet Jackson, William Orbit, Conjure One, Steve Lawler and Danny Tenaglia. Their projects consistently hit the top 10 on the billboard charts and in 2004 and 2005 they enjoyed number 1 hits. The two are currently busy remixing and producing original material in the studio while maintaining a busy gig schedule within the U.S and overseas. Constantly pushing the sound of the dancefloor from all angles you'll need to experience them first-hand to see what all the buzz is about. The move from prodigies to peers of their heroes has been lightning fast, and the buzz surrounding them grows ever louder.

"stereo by angel moraes".... it seems like hes more of an ego-maniac than he is someone who knows how to run a club.... they need to re-evaluate their business strategy.... not hating on this party, if anything, this is the first indication that theyre trying to do better, bringing in outside promoters who know how to work it.... so good luck and lets hope we see more of this!

Don't expect DJ Eco to be appearing @ Stereo anytime soon!

Look it's his club, when you own or partly own a nightclub you all can do whatever the fuck you want! I do beleive the reason why he is putting his name on it is because there is another venue named Stereo in Manhattan. So that alone makes it stand out from the other spot.

Also why outside promoters? Angel has Alan Sax on his staff who has promoted some very succesful parties and events in the past so who not stay in house.

LES is a solid booking! I hope they are regulars @ Stereo! We need more music driven parties in new york in clubs that pride themselves on catering to dance music fans not bottle service reservations! I love the flier just for not having a Bottle Sevice reservation number or guestlist crap! Good for them! I will certianly be there on the 19th!

YEP. I think the fact that there are 2 clubs named Stereo in the same area....is VERY confusing to some people.

so true, one nite a hip hop promoter i know kept insisting the people i was with (1 girl, 7 guys) would have trouble at stereo since guys w/o clean white sneakers wouldn't get in and the ratio of girls/guys has to 3:1 at the door, unless you get bottle service, while i was telling him, hellooooooooooo the new stereo, the NEWER one at least, with house music, u know angel moraes..... and he finally realized what i meant.....i guess Stereo by Angel Moraes is at least a little bit better in distinguishing.....

idk how big the "newer" Stereo is or how much money they make but the older Stereo on 29th st, that i promote at, is small as hell but they are making a killing almost every night of the week. So i think this newer stereo is going to see a problem because of its location and name...so maybe thats why they are hiring promoters to help bring in people and distinguish the two... but idk

well any club needs promoters............ how else are people suposed to know a place is there.................. i have been there off & on from start & it isnt easy doing something all on your own............... why hate on the fact that a place has promoters? Rome was not built in a day ya know. the Sound is penatrating & the space is dark. Perfect to get lost & dance the night away.

"stereo by angel moraes" meaning his custom built system

i mean, im not trying to hate or nething, but half the venues in new york have a custom built system... you dont see steve dash requesting his name be tagged on to every club he tweaked the sound two... as far as distinguishing the two, i think the type of crowd that goes to Stereo #2 would know, just by looking at the flyer, which one it is, and the crowd at Stereo #1 wouldnt know who Angel Moraes is so it makes no difference to them.... whatever, i guess im looking too much into it haha.... without a doubt though, LES is a great booking and i hope to see more like that because this new Stereo seems to not have the right idea on how to be successful in New York, ive been there once (a few weeks after opening) and it was pretty empty, and sad.... the venue is capable of so much more, and whoever had the money and resources to invest in opening the club should have put their money and resources in bringing bigger talent in the first few months to get it going, but they didnt... LES is a good step up, and good luck with it :-)

100% true, but its not the best business strategy for a club competing with some of the megaclubs its competing with in this city.... i think theyre realizing that, considering this party and i think the "a new beginning" on the flyer refers to more than just the new year, lets hope Stereo stays consistent and brings some good names, or at least good outside promoters that bring good names!

I stopped in a few weekends ago for Lord G and Moraes, and it was probably one of the best nights of music I've heard in a very long time.

That was a phat night. That was a phat night. I went for the first night they spun together and I was really impressed. Lord G's always been wicked.

The lineups they're starting to bring in are really good, in my opinion. I also like the fact that there's now a venue in NY where I can hear Angel more often. He's always been one of the best.
