But you are not from England or Ireland, I don't see how having distanct ancestry entitles you to speak in a manner emulating their accent or slang. Also, are you serious trying to attack mik by saying how many myspace friends you have? Give me a break dude, you're 45 and bragging about myspace? Don't you have an important meeting with the smithsonian to attend or something

God dude - keep it up - 1st i was 40 and now i'm 45 - one thing you'll realize as you get older that the older you get the better getting older is... you don't know too many older people in the scene, do you? if you did you'd realize they're the coolest ones around

and for the 105th time, i stopped going out when i was 24 and have only been going out for this past year - hmmm... i guess though i should have filled in all the people that are my age or older last night (which would be about 40%) that they're losers too?

i'll ask again. Hi pot, have you met kettle?

yeah i will say this over and over again- you are the BIGGEST loser i have ever come into contact with - the fact that no matter what time i go on this board and post you post crap back in 2 seconds - this spells out "U HAVE NO LIFE" - or in terms i, and many others, have repeated over and over "U R A LOSER"

I'm not saying you're a loser for going out. I'm saying you're a loser because you're practically a member of the greatest generation and you are bragging about myspace hits. I didn't think people with maturity greater than that of a 13 year old actually said or even thought stuff like that.

you're telling me that from the past week i've seen you post at least 20 times each time i've come on here yet somehow you've only posted 600 items in 4 years... dude you are an idiot if you can't see how easy that is to see through and you're an even bigger loser w/having more then one ID - i would imagine you're such a loser that you post crap referring to your other posts saying how right you (or "they" as you would like us to believe) are....

dude do the math - i have only come back here recentely and didn't post for a good 8 months at all and you're telling me some guy who posts and trolls this board every chance he gets posted less then me.... and you're a lawyer??? i feel bad for the peeps who get you to argue their case

Why did you even come back here? It's fairly obvious no one on this planet likes you. You wear make-up and pick up 13 year olds on myspace. I'm sure we'll see you with Chris Hanson on the next "To Catch a Predator."

If you must know I actually went to TGIF's with a friend of mine and another couple. We drank $7 fish bowls of margaritas, munched on some appetizers and shot the shit. In no way does it compare to your fun filled night of hanging out with male porn stars but hey, I'm not the one who feels the need to go on and brag about how important or INDUSTRY they are in the scene any chance they get. Come to think about it, you sound like you have a bit of brooksie in you as well. Isn't it him who claims he is so much better than everyone? Sounds like you love making yourself feel the same way as well

PWN3D!!!!!

People like abrooksbro and myself are better than you lepers.

no need to jump down my throat...i've been on brooks side since day one and will even admit that he is better than I am and would love to be on his level. if I had the $$ you guys have I would be doing the same shit

props to you guys

You see that computerjerkoff, that's how you speak to abrooksbro and myself. I will now be addressed by His Superior Highness, or God.

If you stopped going out so long ago. How do you know NY is such a joke. I spent 6 months over there in the places you say laugh at NYC. And I found it to be quite the opposite, most people i talked to have a much different view then you. Yea they have different music. But alot of similar music too.

What is the new cutting edge music that we don't have here? All that minimal shit?

um yeah... great reasoning here as to why NYC has a crap music scene... ur the moderator of this board, right? u made the best point possible as to why NYC is lame with these statements... if this is the "only" way NYC can think of to make the nightlife happen then it's just a sad fact that other cities, with real music scenes, have found other ways to make it work.

and where are you finding $150 bottles of grey goose??? all the clubs i go to charge $350. if hadn't worked in the club scene and realized all they cared about was making as much money as possible, w/out giving a shite as to the music being played, then i wouldn't have room to argue.

i'm sorry - if you're the moderator and this is the best reasoning you can come up with then you might as well ban me now

read much? Where do i even mention NYC? I don't give a fuck if nyc is playing shitty music.. i don't live there.

I was talking miami.. and when i do vip, i usually pay $150 or less for bottles so thats all i know - if they charge more to normal clubgoers, then its beyond me.... how can you not say vip is brilliant? a club can make $120+ just on one bottle of booze.. pretty smart if you ask me... i'm talking money/profit - not music.

I mod sports and intro and have zero to do with the ny board so please STFU.. thanks

make sense much? God forbid I thought you were talking about NYC too seeing you're posting here (then again 1/2 the people who post here don't live in NYC so i should have known better)... VIP is NOT brilliant and the people who think it is make up the reason as to why there's little hope for a real music scene here. "Pretty smart" - geez get a clue - or better yet stay in Miami or at least on that board.

btw, your words only covey 2 things when you speak about how "brilliant" VIP is:

1) you've never been in a real music scene (sorry, Miami does not have one)

2) you're not VIP and the only way you'll ever come close to it is by dishing out $150 for a bottle so you can feel like one

Of course clubs need to make money so they can survive but that's hardly the issue here. The issue is NYC not having a real music scene. If the scene wasn't so hell bent on who is VIP and who's cooler then whoever else then maybe we might start caring about what the fuck the DJ is playing. But for now while everyone is playing the "I'm cooler then you" game, and clubs feed into that by selling tables so people can pretend they're "cool", then there's not much hope. You can say whatever you want but go to a city where music matters and ask them about the music scene in NYC - you'll get the same exact response I just gave you.

no offense..but i get the feeling you consider pensacola or wherever the hell Simon's was as "a real music scene" just because you hung out there..

not at all - i consider Simon's in GAINESVILLE a real music scene because when Mixmag (the main DJ bible mag back then) asked the top 100 int'l DJ's in 1994 as to the best place to spin in the WORLD, 54 picked Simon's.

Think about it - if over 1/2 of the top DJ's in the world picked just one club as the best place to spin then I hardly need to say anything more to convey it's a fact jack. i would still spout this fact if the majority had been like "19" or something but it was over 1/2 - obviously "just because i hung out there" isn't the reason i think it had a real music scene but i can assure you me hanging out there, along with all my friends, made that floor go off like nothing else and made it the music scene it was - we were a very hard crowd to please but when you did please us we gave you something i have yet to see again in any other club - we made the music go off in such a way that it was nothing short of a spiritual movement.

btw, you could also ask the people who drove from Miami, Tallahassee, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksvonville every weekend to come to Simon's if that's how they felt too or you could go find ANY dj that was on the int'l music scene back then about Simon's - you'll hear the same exact thing i'm telling you now. if both Sasha and Paul van Dyk picked Simon's to be the first place they spun at their 1st time in america then the club obviously had a HUGE rep on the world music scene - Sasha even came back the very next weekend because he digged it so much.

and guess what.... they had no VIP, they didn't sell bottles, there were no hosts, no promoters yet Simon made all the money in the world he could want because his only care was bringing the music to the masses and every DJ had nothing but utter respect and admiration for this because of his love for music. funny thing was there were no "tables" at all - you just didn't sit down in that club AT ALL...

what makes it so funny is this club wasn't in a big city like new york, london or berlin - it's this little small hicksville town that housed the university of FL (go GATORS!!!!)

some of u r sad as f*ck... if u think NYC has a real music scene (one with NEW music) then keep listening to JP, Junior or whoever NYC thinks is the shite..... trying to hear the newest in what electronic music has to offer in NYC is impossible... trance, deep house, tribal - it's NOT "underground" - if f'n tired! if it was over and done with in 1995 you can rest assured it's just as over and done with in 2007... you're fooling urself if you think NYC doesn't have a crap reputation on the world music scene. they think this town is a joke when it comes to what's the latest in music and they're 100% RIGHT! don't get me wrong - i love NY but it's hardly for the nonexistent music scene.

You said earlier that NYC never had a music scene. This statement is ridiculous, and you have to realize it to have 1/2 an ounce of credibility.

Now, does it have a real music scene today? Yes.

Does it have the latest coolest new music scene, I don't know. London's probably it nowadays...

Also, I don't give a shit about the rest of the world's opinion about New York. The rest of the world's dying to visit this place anyway so they can shut the fuck up.

Finally, calm down, there's a scene for everyone, and everyone thinks their scene is the shite ...

you've got to be kidding me with this statement - NYC having a real music scene??? - this is coming from someone who hasn't even gone out in years (as far as i can tell from what you've told me)... Maybe it had one when disco was around but even in the late 80's/early 90's we all knew in Florida NYC was more interested in dressing up and being cool then letting it go to good music. If your idea of a 'real music scene' is either hearing madonna or trance/tribal/deep house then, yeah, it has one... however if you're looking for the latest in electronic music then it does not - sorry but find me a place where they're playing electro and not some lame dj's bips-n-bleeps. if you do find me a place playing electro let's see what happens, as in if they care at all, when you switch it to madonna or mariah carey....

btw, how does what i say not have an ounce of credibility??? I kinda know the difference between a real one and one that doesn't exist seeing I've actually got to experience not one but two real music scenes w/each one lasting about 5 years each. I don't want to pick a fight with you but you've given me the "not one ounce" crap w/out backing up what you're saying - live up to your name and back it up ms. queen because w/out doing so you need to step down off your throne when it comes to this discussion... if i'm willing to risk and lose a friendship with the best NYC DJ, one i've known since jr high, over the importance of music then i'm hardly gonna back down and "calm down" when fed shite statements like this.... i realize you're pinpointing the 'never' statement but seeing most of these kids weren't born when disco was around, and maybe that's when you're referring to, then i can safely say "NYC has never had a real music scene" and be 100% factual about it. odd thing is - i bet you those who disagree with me haven't even been outside the realm of the NYC scene and thus, w/out being able to contrast and compare, can't say for sure if it's real or not.

and of course everyone is dying to visit NYC - it's the best fuckin city in the world but that doesn't automatically mean it gives a fuck about new music.... and london - no, if you talk to people from london they'll say it's better than NYC but definitely not the best...

one thing i do know is music and i do know NYC is more interested in selling you a table then giving you the latest & best the world has to offer in electronic music.

one note tho - if you do want to hear a emerging music scene visit mr black when sammy jo is spinning (make sure he's not having some guest DJ because he tends to give the whole night to them) - it's just a sad fact i had to go get myself banned from the only place that even remotely resembles something of a real emerging music scene. if you do go tell connie, the door girl, McMike says 'hi'. it won't help you get in any quicker but do me the fave and say 'hi' for me....

You can't be credible when you write that nyc doesn't have a music scene and never had. I have a problem with the 'never had' thrown in there.

I make a difference between 'real music scene' and 'new music scene'. I think a party like Joe Claussell's at Love is real, I think Danny Krivit's 718 sessions are real, and i think that the calderone parties are real too. Hell, I even think the Loft parties thrown by David Mancuso are real, and they're definitely not new.

All those scenes are real, meaning they are the true representation of a sound, yes. Are they new? Not really.

Also, I don't go out as much as I did (it was 4 times/week), but I've seen some of what this city has to offer. Yes, I've been to mr.black Fridays, it's fine but i don't call that cutting edge either (Maybe S.Jo wasn't playing).

The only scene I consider new and interesting is the MisShapes party back 2 years ago. And I like the HotPink! sound ...

We're probably overlapping in what we're saying but somehow your messages sound so aggressive ...

I'll throw a good old PLUR in there!

Guys, remember to take computerjokcey's opinions with a grain of salt. As mentioned, he stopped going out when he was 24 right after the stock market crash, and has just started getting back into it, so of course he is the penultimate authority. He doesn't seem to want to grasp that not everyone or even most people want his "scene," but since NYC doesn't have exactly what HE wants it's horrible. If you guys are looking to hang out with a bunch of old dudes dressed up like trannys with makeup on who are dancing while E'd up, then boy does he have a scene for you though.

Where did i claim to be VIP? I have no problem shelling out $150... i don't claim to be someone special.. I'm not the one on a public messageboard telling people to run around florida saying "michael from simons" to see if people recognize me.. thats just hillarious.. wow your sooo cool... :blown:

I am saying VIP is brilliant as far as a club is concerned with making money... Thats all i said.. i don't get why that rattled you soo much.. i mean get a grip..

I've partied all over the world, i don't need to be told where "real music" is.. your opinion on "real music" is just that - an opinion..
