  1. this might have meant nothin' of the NYC board years ago but seeing Simon's was not only the most influential club in Florida in the early 90's, but the world (over 1/2 the dj's in the mixmag int'l '94 poll picked Simon's as the best place to spin the world (basically the same one that just named a club in Miami as #9)), then someone here in Florida might actually know about it. btw, aren't you off your home turf on this board? i'm shocked NYC peeps actually take time from slammin JR and/or worhsipping JP to come to this board.
  2. who's into electro here in south FL? can anyone recommend some clubs? i just moved from NYC where the music scene was not at all what it was in Florida when I used to live here (anyone ever hear of Simon's in Gainesville in the 90's?) i must admit the best night i had on a NYC dancefloor was 2 weeks ago at Peter Rauhofer's party @ stereo (not exactly hardcore electro) so any floors that tend to come alive with a mind of their own i'd like to hear about. please lemme know if it's deep house or tribal so i can avoid... here are my sites (a lot of music and pics in 'em): http://www.myspace.com/cjmikey http://www.newwavehouse.com - orig jukebox http://www.mcmike.us - pics from the collages on myspace http://www.cjmikey.com - alt jukebox w/pics
  3. just got in town so my hands are kinda tied for the next couple of weeks as to what i can do, no car yet, but you can bet i'll be checking this out if i'm thinkin i'm gonna hear shite like 'sunday morning'. i used to freak in NYC when i would happen to hear out an LP i bought (only happened about 10 times and only with Sammy Jo and Kim Ann Foxman). you on myspace? hit me up there http://www.myspace.com/cjmikey
  4. kevin - i'm gonna miss smokin out with ya. i still listen to the tunes, esp 'superfly', that you gave me
  5. I didn't meet Peter until about a month ago when he came to Bank when Jr spun. I went to his party after I met him - dumbass me shouldn't have waited so long.... my 1st 'circuit' party was only a week prior to going to peter's party when michael formika jones hooked up with john blair and opened their new night at avalon. luckily i didn't base the circuit party experience on that party seeing peter's party (music-n-crowd) was beyond comparison. peter's club was the 1st party i had been to that wasn't 'hosted' by somebody which made a HUGE difference in the role of the dancefloor - and, what sucks too, peter's crowd (i guess the star 69 crowd) were really f'n cool-n-nice. too bad i only got to hang with them once. whoever the blonde model is in peter's group super-impressed me too. it was just really odd to be back on a real dancefloor after being in the 'fashionista' scene for so long. my affect on a dancefloor is much more so then anything a camera could ever do to a night which is the best feelin seein that's what i love.
  6. Well I just documented what I saw and I saw a lot of Amanda and twinky go-go boys. However, in Florida it appears the music scene is just as hardcore as when I left it. I'd much rather snap pics of dj's (headphones r hot) then 1/2 naked twinks, honestly. Once I get adjusted I'll start back up on the pics and hopefully I'll be getting more pics of people like Peter. However the only night I saw Peter spin the music was so good I didn't end up taking pics so if there is a good music scene here then the pics won't be so important. here's the real pic: i can't tell you how awesome it was to not only finally get a shot of peter but to also have that be my last picture i took in NYC and it was by total chance i saw him in chelsea
  7. somehow i do not care dude. besides if you're into taking people who joke about people havin strokes and stuff seriously then, yeah, you're seriously ready not to take stuff you should take seriously. seriously mr
  8. It might not make them a "moron" but it is bonus points that will make sure their membership to the moron cult doesn't expire...
  9. Sr Vasquez is in perfectly good health I hope... There's a HUGE difference in tone b/w the boards here - checking out the miami one you can tell they're up for discussin music and not rumors thrown in with snide comments. btw, my avatar was my last pic in NYC (1 hr before I left) - LOVE IT!
  10. hey seb - you have sunday morning by synthique as the last song on your track listing on your site for making moves (2004) - where can i hear stuff like this in South Florida? i've had that song on my http://www.newwavehouse.com site since it came out....
  11. doesn't everyone ride dicks in miami/ft lauderdale???
  12. hardly! it's just a bonus that miami was picked as the #1 spot in the US - trust me - this poll is NOT why i'm moving....
  13. oh i LOVED it - i haven't been able to x&dance since FL - i've tried zoomin in NYC but since the scene i've experienced was more about dressing up and being 'seen' then being 'seen' while you're totally fucked up isn't all that. can you tell me anything about peter's group? supposebly both the guy and girl were named 'gabriel' but that sounds odd. i'd really like to know who the blond model woman was - is her name really 'gabriel'? and am i wrong in assuming all the really hot guys were porn stars? there seemed to be a crowd of guys that were just cracking me up and all i could think of to ask is "are you available on vhs?"
  14. time, place and a pic to remind me what you look like????
  15. the party rocked! 1st time since FL i've experienced a real dance floor (1st time i've been to a NYC party that wasn't "hosted" by somebody so....) so it was nice to let loose tho i kinda had to watch myself and thus not go too crazy since it was a new surrounding w/new peeps. the crowd was great - some totally beau people. whoever is the blonde model woman in peter's group is simply amazing. she seemed to be diggin me as much as i was diggin her. too bad won't be albe to experience it again since i b movin to miaim on sunday.
  16. thanks! i had my 1st circuit party last week at avalon but from what i hear that was no indication of what peter's capable of.
  17. I live in NYC, probably movin to Miami in the next week or two, and lookin kinda forward to it - that recent int'l DJ poll had Miami as the only US city in the top 10 and was mentioned again before NYC was even listed. Would anyone elaborate on what's making Miami the love of DJ's? What kind of music is happening there? I'm really into electro right now and am looking forward to checking out the music if I move. Check out my MySpace page and hit me up if you go out and find my page interesting at all...
  18. God, you're almost not worth it. However, being weird is an art form. If you weren't so middle-of-the-road you might know that. *Having witty verbal matches on club planet is virtually impossible because the only thing worse then someone who tries in vain to be witty is someone who's so far out their league in this game of wits that they can't realize they're hardly up for a match. If you wanna verbalize make sense and get your facts right. Actually DUH - let me guess ANOTHER handle for brookswannabe??? You both reak of the same failure.
  19. r we trying to make sense? this is why i was gay for so long - so many chicks are just your typical stupid airheads who try to be bitchy but just end up being LAME - let me guess: you're blonde (and i highly doubt a natural blonde at that either)
  20. ur smellin like a lame fish cunt(isback (however, IMO, she needs to crawl back under the rock she has yet to evolve from))... NY is fine, the music scene might suck but the city rocks. And if you're gonna try to slam me get your facts right - I had zilch to do with Tampa.
  21. I know it does! Last night the drag queen from London sang her version of De'Lacy's "Hideaway" - they have always, and will always, have better taste in music then the US. I mean look at the 80's: New Order, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Cure, Siouxsie, Vince Clark (Yaz & Erasure) - the list is endless. As for the US all I can name is the B-52's and Book of Love.
