Who Are Your Favorite Underground/Local DJs?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering: Who are the local DJs you all go out to support? And what kind of music and where do they play so we can support them too?

Sasha & Digweed, PVD, etc. DON'T COUNT.

Local, small-time DJs, your friends, the guy who plays at the bar down the street, yourself.. that counts.

Let me know.

You know what???

I like DJ Smokey a lot from Webster Hall Saturday nights. He used to be their hip hop dj but transferred to the main room where he plays house/trance/hip hop/even some classics and just mixes it all up. Anyway, this guy really gets into it and works the crowd. Even verbally, which most djs don't do. He changes style throughtout the night and puts on a great show. I guess he still plays there, it's been a while since I last went.

NY

Steve Stole

Jeff Mills

Frankie Bones

They all tour like rock stars

getting gigs for 2000 dollars a night

working over 200 days out of the year

plus they are considered to be God out in Europe

no wait Detroit heads like Derrick May and Juan Atkins are considered God

they would be Mohammed, Moses and Jesus

(it's a shame a lot of New York Heads would have no clue on who any of these DJays are?)

My good friend Melange. He's done some raves in Boston and some in New York. He is definately one of the many hidden talents out there! Keep up the good work, Alex!! wink.gif
