"NEW TWILO IMAGE" and more :(

SOME TWILO CRITIX!

Well, we got in like 5:15. We were right at the velvet ropes, some Twilo-employe said "Take everyone in, just check the IDs!". This attitude is just not right!!! It's killing the real party people crowd and letting underdressed uncool 'dudes and dudettes'. smile.gif

It is sad to see so-called clubbers! come to clubs just to do drugs and ridiculously trip their face off!!! Do drugs, I don't care. But I heard guys saying "Yeah dude, Twilo is the best place to do e!" while waiting on the line. It just not right, and door people and management can change this.

This was my 20th time at S&D in 3 yrs and ~35th at Twilo total... and each time parties are getting more and more unfriendly and commercial. Haven't you noticed that there are no drags/club kids/queens/dressed up people anymore??? Has anyone have an idea why that S&D party was $35? No special effects nothing! Thank God that I had it reduced. Now they even have Twilo brand water bottles frown.gif Soon, I won't be surprised to see "Best of Twilo Mixes" Cds like the Webster Hall did smile.gif My 1 cent!

I personnally didn't like the new DJ booth at Twilo. The whole club happened to be a concert hall and the DJ the artist. I saw people forming lines and clappin Sasha. Yes, he deserves all the loving and everything but the vibe on the dance floor was obviously damaged! Even my old-skool clubbing friends stopped dancing and watching Sasha spin until I warned them smile.gif

Watching DJs is not the purpose of clubbing!

Looking forward to your comments too!!!

Peace out...

you know...thats how it was when i went to bedrock in london..it was wierd coz everyone faces the dj...over there the dj is the rock star..but the vibe...was amazing!!!!!!..everyone was there just for the music..and hardly anybody was on e..everyone was MAD friendly...twilo...the vibe sucks now coz' you have mad e-tards....and for that matter crackheads, talkin' bout the same crackheadish shit..damn even when im fucked up, I'm not like that!....now they have twilo magazine!!!! the scene is dead....the music isn't...but half the reason for going was the crowd...i went sober that night..loved the music..danced my ass off straight for like 6-8 hours..hated the crowd...and saw real filth all night...thank god i went sober...i probly wont be goin clubbin..or doin anything at a club for a long, long time. It's also a shame that every where I went..there had to be somebody askin..hey do you know where i can get some e? pissed me off...leave me alone..ya know...dude, the club scene is dead in ny...what do you do...go to lounges..and go clubbin once every 3 mos....thats all there is to do...but we can still cherish the old days right? and go clubbin in europe smile.gif

I kinda have to disagree with you on one thing smile, just cause a crowd is all good looking doesnt mean the vibe will be great, yeah, its one thing to keep really sloppy looking people out, but another to adopt a velvet rope policy, In fact I think a velvet rope policy will make it more commercialised. One of the main reasons I liked Twilo is the fact that I didnt have to get all fancy like some other NYC clubs, I could just go and dance in what I felt was comfortable. Some of the best nights I've had was at relaxed clubs with pumping music, at the same time some of the deadest clubs in my opinion have been the ones with the so called "model crowd". I've never tried e, just not my thing, and I'm almost always sober cause I go clubbing only for the music, what other people do is up to them. At the same time you are right, Twilo's is begining to get a crowd that goes just for the claim, not for the music, which is sad. I was also pissed when they raised S+D to $35 (a $10 hike in just 3 months!!!), thats cause soooooo many people are on Twilo's nutsack, from reporters at Time and New York Magazine saying "TWILO is the SUPERCLUB at the moment" to all these kids worshipping S+D like they were God or something instead of two really awsome DJ's, of course media and public hype like this is going to bring notice for a druggy crowd and a commercial crowd who go just to claim "I went to Twilo!" . Just my opinion.

how does the way someone dress define how the vibe will be like?..and since when was twilo about beeing "cool", smile, your a dumbass, after all the times you've been to twilo, and havent realized how friendly the vibe is..maybe its not the crowd that is the problem, and how can you say too many people are "trippin thier face off", so what?..the dance floor is still jumpin, and that what its all about...i bet your one of those monkeys in a imposter armani suit, with dark glasses, who sits outside the vip lounge, complaining all night long how the club sucks...anyways, yeah come look for me at pvd, and maybe ill give you a tour of what vibe, plur, is about....one wink.gif

is it image that matters to you when you go to a club? you need to be in that beautiful people crowd? what about dancing and the music, the 2 things that matter the most? you are a superficial person and you type is what bought down the nyc club scene. Your type is the epitomy of what a club goer shouldnt be shallow and superficial. Club kids, drags, queens and all that other nonsence went out in the 90's. So what if somone wants to watch a DJ? thats no concern of yours just get out to the dance floor and dance! get with the program sister! next time try a Peter Gatien club with Kenny Kenny and Steve Lewis at the door! JEEZE!

There haven't been any drag/queens/"club kids"/ etc. in Twilo since it reopened, at least not to the extent it was when it was Sound Factory. In fact, all the clubs are becoming more......"regular", I guess you can call it. It is for the best, because I could never stand all that velvet rope bullshit. If you want to party and have a good time, that's all that should matter.

I was there at Twilo on Friday and was diappointed. I have been there a couple of times, 2nd time for S&D. I go to parties a lot, however I don't liked to be called a "raver" anymore, I go for the music and to dance!

I had a bad time because the music wasn't that great, same beat all night, no change up! Too many people, can't dance unless you like stepping and crashing into people, and way to HOT! I don't care about the drug heads or the drunk asses, I just want some room to enjoy myself...is that a lot to ask? So maybe they could not let so many people in or blast some kind of air from somewhere, and we would all enjoy ourselves a little more!

I also went on Friday for the first time since every1 told me it's the best club to go to... but umm... sorry but I didn't like it that much. I know every club lots and lots of people use drugs but damn... at this place they made it SO obvious that it was funny after awhile. To those people who complain about not having enough place to dance.. well gimme a break.. it's S&D night... u gotta expect it. Even though there was not place whatsoever.. I still managed to dance~! Well the music did disappoint me... same thing over and over. But I can't really say that since I had to leave early that day... around 5:30am. I guess that's when the party really started.

i can obviously see there are mixed feelings about twilo. This was my third time to S&D and i had an amazing time. Not only do i love the music, but so much more was inolved in the night. I met some interesting people with good vibes and ran into friends who i haven't seen in months. I tried leaving around 7am bc i had work, but once i got downstairs i couldn't leave till 9:30. With every club there comes good and bad nights. But Twilo friday was one of the better.

Clarifications to my initial post!

When I said 'underdressed' I didn't mean Armanis, fubu or cheezie Bang Bang stuff. I meant going to a club with bluejeans and a white t-shirt! London's club scene is way hip than NYCs and you cannot get in with jeans&white tshirt. I can't believe how shallow-minded people misdirected my comments to unrelated and personal fields. And some peeps said "Well, we go for the music and the vibe". Hello? Why do you think I still go to every PvD and S&D for 3 years?

I know Twilo has never been a Kurfew-Tunnel or Sound Factory party, but at least two years ago I (we) were running into some drag friends on the dance floor and chit chat. Now none of them go to Twilo. The ones who have been clubbing since Arena times cannot deny the difference in the scene!!!

I am not blaming people on the board or at the club!! I am just giving my 2 cents to Twilo's door and management policy for opening grounds for future degeneration.

You don't agree with that? FINE! But attacking me personally reflects an obvious lack of clubbing culture-PLUR!

Peace out!

whats wrong w/ jeans and a tshirt? It's comfy and cotton breathes a lot better than a lot of the synthetics. Doesn't look cool? Get over it and worry about yorself.

Is it worse to be hanging around these "slobs" than pretentious people that are fubar and thinking they are somewhat better because they are dressed more formally?

That goes for all that call the raver kids gutter trash while getting tanked in their own gear. Hypocrisy. Good thing the music unites us. Oh wait, it obviously doesn't

Randy man... first of all, Club ain't gym!

However I see your argument and agree with you in some extent. Contrary to your argument, not all of the so-called cool dressed people are snobs or non-party people either.. Maybe I was too strict with my initial comments...but exceptions do not break the rule. And even today I still go to clubs to listen to the music, party and dance ... but wouldn't it be more interesting to see funky looking + fun people around, like we used to see couple of years ago? That is my point!

PS: It is nice to see that you're still active. I remember meeting you once at your early days (tall blonde thin guy, right?). You were shouting as 'ClubNYC' at the waterfountain and trying to gather CNYCers smile.gif

". . . not all of the so-called cool dressed people are snobs or non-party people either . . "

smileNYC, just because you wear certain types of "club" clothes doesn't make you in the "cool people" category. The word "cool" is an individual thing. I, personally, laugh when I see guys in Armani/Versace gear trying to dance or gals in tight dresses or way too short minis dancing and flashing more than that needs to be seen. I think those clubbers are funny as hell. And I happen to like t-shirts and confortable clothes when I dance. To me that's cool.

You keep talking about using more discretion at the door . . . I agree. I think that they should use more discretion in who comes into the club for the music or just to get mashed-up, but not the image.

One last thing, you keep making it sound like the people in compy clothes are the ones that are mashed-up all over the floor . . . it's not. We may be the "uncool dudes and dudettes" in your eyes but we're not the majority of the people tripping their face off . . . that would be the slack and polo wearing urban kid who's in Twilo experimenting with his other urban kid friends.

Everybody knows that a real clubber is in it for the music.

Go to vinyl. Lot's of tchirt/jeans peeps and a great crowd. Clothing is jsut a shell and ther equite often a very interesting person inside of there. Why worry about something as superficial as dress when the person wearing the clothes means so much more?

Hehe, I have met scores, yes scores of people from here. Unfortunately, most only once so it is hard to remember everyone. Do you rem what party we met at?

i haven't been to Twilo for a while but drugs have always and frown.gif will always be present

I've been worshipping clubbing in NYC for many years, because of the music, the big rooms (bigger than in Europe), the partying atmosphere...and also because i can go to Twilo with my Nike sneakers...

went a couple of times to London for clubbing and felt strange to see "so called clubbers" dressed as if they were going to Church

so i don't think it's the correct dress to dance!
