  1. rather then follow the conversation in the other thread..i made a new one. i never venture to astoria really..other then to swing by and say hello to some old friends who have made the triangle of croatian hotspots there 2nd home. im mostly in manhattan if anywhere. i always find it weird to bump into a person who actually knows the city i was born in =)so where do you normally chill?? z
  2. hey lavkrap... living in astoria and your from zadar how shocking. =) i was born in sibenik, right now living in flushing. so many better things to do then sleep =)
  3. i chose this name cause i honestly believe that "sleepiswaste"...a waste of time. imagine what you could do the others 6-8 hours a day. hello lavkrap..the other lovely croatian. =)
  4. paved the way...diggers??? what crack you been smoking... go back to school little boy.
  5. brittany spears remix for 20,000... would never do it. i have to much pride. and if some dj does do it...he just got hiself involved in a huge corporate mastermind scheme to make money. thats cheesy. paul van dyk playing amber....how can you possibly bring that up...im sure you can still go to sound factory or any nyc club and still hear one of her tracks.i guess deep dish is cheesy too for remixing it. if you want to argue about dj's...you'll lose every time. i been around as far as experiencing clubs in areas other then new york. there's a lot worse going around then jonathan peters as far as local dj's are concerned. but he is a local dj..and for now thats all he will be. remix after remix..selling himself to people the likes of you. the ones who go out and get anything he touches. he caters to a commercial crowd..and uses that to his advantage. no refinements..no originality. now back to the original argument... here's a simple way of putting it... people go to sound factory..because its sound factory.. people don't go to twilo...cause its twilo.. they go because sven vath is there..or paul van dyk is there..or carl cox catch my drift??? now its turning into people going cause its twilo. this is where everything starts to turn to shit. im not trying to piss on you..i just think you need to learn some more.
  6. didnt jonathan peters just remix a brittany spears track?? for the new people into clubs..with the un-matures ears..peters is perfect. but for the people who have been clubbing for some time..other options need to be explored such as the talent at twilo. and jp plays the euro tracks too. zombie nation has been out for over a year and a half..don't know if he still plays it. but from what i heard it has come out a lot in the recent 6 months. the track was a hit in europe last summer...a commercial hit. that to me is cheesy.
  7. this is the first intelligent thread i have seen on this board for some time. i agree with all of you.. i can't go to twilo anymore . its more annoying then enjoyable. i was a huge s&d fan but with their nights falling to the commercial masses..i don't attend anymore. not to say that im the best clubgoer in new york..but i don't walk around harrasing, shoving, robbing, scheming on my fellow clubbers.the way i learned it...we are all suppose to be a family. taking care of each other in order to achieve a night that should always be a positive experience. its gonna take time to purify the people in the scene. its has been like crap for way too long.
  8. born in croatia.. raised in new york.
  9. always great when you can laugh after a long night. thanks kitty...fucken hilarious. =) z
  10. been waiting for this day for months. and what do i do.. sleep through the whole fucken thing. with my ticket staring at me from my nightstand when i woke up at 12:30. its all jilly's fault. =) z
  11. ok..got your point.. but.. twilo has always been mixed.. the dressy has always been there.. it has never been a total rave scene.. when van dyk dropped the volume...they were vocal tracks..he expected the crowd to fill in..and where i was standing 3/4 of the people around me didn't know the track. the 30 people around me on the line asked me if paul van dyk was any better then jonathan peters.. and the harrasment bit...the huge meatheads kept pushing people away from the chicks they were dancing with. and finally.. im very open minded.. i just stated observations..my perception of the night..in comparison to past nights these things didn't bother me...im not being snotty..just explaining the night i saw. i could give a fuck about whos there. its the music that grabs me..nothing else. z
  12. my only complaints are... the crowd was fairly unknowlegable.. seems like sound factory has invaded twilo.. loved the pvd remix of born slippy..but when he cut the volume to hear some crowd participation..he didn't get it..cause nobody knows the track. there was also a lack of participation on BT's dreaming when he cut the volume again.. He's never done that before at twilo.. Guess he was in the mood..more comfortable w cause he doesn't have crowds watching his every move in the old booth. was in the middle all night so didn't notice anything outside of the dance floor. i enjoyed it. no cheese really. i left at 7:30.im suprised i missed another 2 hours. normally ends at 8-8:30. z [This message has been edited by sleepiswaste (edited 07-22-2000).]
  13. shit..can you guys be anymore off...??? centro-fly..has more of the soulful house feel to it...but they do get some harder stuff in there. techno/tech-house in a club sense is unheard of in nyc clubs..cept for the little moments tenaglia (at vinyl) and digweed (at twilo) throw at us. fear exit. fear anything in NJ. pickup "flyer" magazine. there laid out all over the village. the small techno jams are always listed there. enjoy nyc z
  14. nick warren is top notch... i wouldn't call him second tier..he fills his own spaces around the globe. the next Gu is dave seaman coming in august.. and the nick warren GU is coming from amsterdam last i heard. Top Dj wish he visited NYC.. z
  15. would love to see something along the lines of robots open again. preferably a cab ride away. nice comfortable spot..with lots of lounging room. some nights i use to go straight to robots. fuck the club =) z
  16. what headphones you using???
  17. try licking the end of the cartridge.. that part that goes into the tonearm.. the four little contacts..give it a lick and see what happens
  18. always been a fan of tricky..guess this slipped by me. what time? ??
  19. hold on one sec...your taking me wrong here. im not saying let the door be choosy based on dress or attitude... im just saying to pay 35$ for a night..that is so packed that you can hardly breathe..every few minutes or so u accidently step on someone lying or sitting on the floor..u can't stand anywhere without being bumped or yelled at by security.. with a slight bit of scrutiny at the door..it might not be as bad. confusing greed...and the idea of allowing all people to come for the music is a thin line. 2 yrs ago..twilo was choosy at the door. it wasn't as popular then. but i had seen them deny many.
  20. if it was only about the music..they wouldn't be charging 35$ at the door. for the amount of money we're paying in comparison to other venues round the world with the same lineups...twilo is seriously ripping us off. so asking for a more eclectic crowd is not asking too much.
  21. have u forgotten that techno has been around just as long..and has survived just as long.. probably has a larger but more subtle following..will still be here as the rest of the genres fall... to say techno has no soul or funk is cruel. this whole new house/trance movement towards darkness is nothing new...i can play you some obscure techno from 5 years back and the likes of DT/S&D would surely look at it quizzingly wondering where it came from. don't let the corporate world..the big time dj's...or even your neighbor tell you whats right and wrong to listen to.. just listen and enjoy it.. thats the point of it. wait until the powers of composing on your home computer and the ability to cut your own records at home become more popular. we have only seen a small speck of what can happen with music. just offerring another angle -z-
  22. opaline on wednsdays... really nice hidden spot..with dj's playing everything you should be hearing as far as techno/house/trance..
  23. ahhh absinthe there are a few low key spots in manhattan where u can get the drink..
