there is a great interview of dave seaman in a pool in buenos aries the day after he played at groovejet in june 1999. the next night he played the set that would become GU 012. i've had some pretty good times partying w/ andy and james here in miami. including this march with him giving me a piggy back ride around crobar, and introducing him to every girl he could find. those guys are true nutters. when i get home i'll post a pic of us.

it wasn't that long ago that phazon almost stripped the phazon name off that crobar system due to inproper ussage. but since they moved the dj booth it sounds 100% better. i think space's system lays waste to the level one. i don't like the acoustics inside of level. you get too much roll off towards the sides and back of the room.

twilo didn't do anything that groovejet miami didn't do first... except install a kick ass sound system. it can be done again. and d, you must have read the quote from mr dash wrong' it say's "we're looking" not "i'm looking" as in plural.

this is taken from another private message board. not that it would be a "twilo" in miami, but possibly something to wonder about.... read on. Well I was soo curious about the Phazon that I called the man himself, Steve Dash. I talked to him the other day on the phone and was asking him some questions about the Phazon Systems and the Twilo one. That man knows some shit about Digital Domain sound stuff. The yellow knobs to the right of mixer in all phazon booths are the Crossover and 5 band adjustable EQ. That be built himself...curcuit boards and all. He said they were "world class units"...ha, to say the least. He was kind of joking about how there was not alot of power in twilo too.. I was kind of shocked but he had a good expl why and how it sounds soo good anyhow.There is a BSS omnidrive digital processor that controls some of the processing(dash built and designed two other digital processors too) and it has a heat/humidity probe attached to it(as sound waves travel at different speeds when in heat and humidity). I asked him if it is constantly updateing and adjusting the EQ curve(that is preset,well sort of) even when the nitro blasters go off, it is making adjustsments to the sound as the room cools and heats up. That is some dank equip. there. He had all the bases covered on that system. He said the name phazon was just some name they made up..ha. He has been in the business for over 30 years and it shows too, kink of sounded like a geek/dork but a VERY nice guy and real intelligent. he sure as hell didn't sound like a guy who designed and built the best club in the world with his own hands, well he sounded like he knew everything under the sun about sound but didn't sound like a coke dealin club owner. Asked about another club.."were looking in Florida and looking in New York too" The phazon 2 is going to be brutal.

i originally grabbed it off the old napster, but i just had a quick browse through winmx and found a few people over there had it. http://www.winmx.com in case you don't know. i like this better then the other mp3 sites that are around since my beloved napster drowned in a metallica/music industry wave. it's a bit slower and not as slick as napster was, but it gets the job done.

season runs from oct to end of march. peaks during holidays and a major peak of conference/spring break. if you don't know, or don't notice season, then i'm sorry. fact is, the clubs (among other business) in south florida almost triple their business during this time. if you walk the streets of south beach on a wednesday night in august, then walk those same streets on a wednesday in january, you will see "season". clubs in miami traditionally don't don't like to book dj's on nights they can pack, just like you said, with basically nobody important on the decks. but during season, they can draw larger crowds on a mid week night, and make $$. fact. season is what it's all about here. resturants, clubs attractions. off season, the tourism drops dramatically, and most of the locals are on vacation etc. it's all about the # of people. south fla population is roughly 5 million over dade and broward. in the summer, maybe it's more like 3.5-4 million at any given day. and during season it swells to like 7-8 million on any given day. do the math.

a little bird told me that dave seaman is playing in oct. if you look closely, there are some open dates there that he might fit into. hope that bird was correct. another interesting seaman tidbit... bliss always throws a HUGE thanksgiving party the wed of thanksgiving eve. and looky there, looks like dave seaman is going to be in north america that week too. just speculation, but the history of bliss and dave seaman goes a LONG way back! plus dave's doing a GU in the future. possibly miami?? could be....

from an insiders perspective, you should place a great deal of blame on the clubs and their owners. the promoters in town constantly get the run around. fact is, most of the clubs in miami are too fucking cheap to book any talent. it cuts into their profits. plus the fact that so many of the dj's you guys want to see are balance dj's. in each major market, balance has a history of working w/ only 1 promoter. in our case there are 2 promoters who regularly book balance talent. one of them has been focusing on their new label and throws events on special occassions, and the other seems to bounce around venues. in a case such as houston, balance dj's play at primarily 1 club, and that club seems to book primarily balance talent. in miami that does not happen. balance dj's play at crobar, space, shadow and occasionally at other smaller venues. in my opinion this fragments the working relationship w/ the clubs, and by the time a tour has been shopped around various venues in miami, it's possible another city has taken up the date. but that is just speculation on my part. another factor to take in is the fact that we're not in season right now, and all these tours are coming through cities that are in season. it will pick up in a few months. i promise! speaking of balance, lee burridge, will be in orlando on nov 9th i believe.

prologue is wicked wicked wicked!! if you like that, see if you can hunt down cass's balance promo double cd. almost as good as prologue... but not quite. btw, the balance promo was the first cd to have sasha's lupus. cass/jvm mix.

i've had it on uk promo for close to a year now. this album is really quality. the promo was from the original release, not sure if it's been changed since the deconstruction problems. i don't see why they'd change it though. even better than the first album in my opinion. nice to see nick and jody finally get the chance to release it!

well from the looks of it, pappa's dates have changed. he was originally scheduled to play crobar on sept 8 and icon in orlando on sept 9. well now it looks as if the sept 8 date is now at icon, and no south fla date is on the sept tour. WTF??? oh well, my boy stryke is playing the main room at space on sept 8 now. he's gonna turn in a wicked techno set. mark my words.

three should be resident. best dj in florida, best dj in the states, and probably the best dj on the planet.
