I was informed yesterday, and am very excited to tell everyone who has plans to be in Miami @ SPACE the weekend of Labor day that it has now been moved from Saturday night to Sunday night. YESSSSS!!! I hope this works best for everyone's plans as it does mine considering originally I would have been playing @ C2K in Las Vegas on that Friday, then having to rush off to play in Miami the next night. I normally do not ever book gigs back to back like that, and not too long ago asked Club Space to please let us do Sunday instead of Saturday, (but it was already pre planned months ago). Plus, considering thier Saturday's are already massive and it might have been overkill to play for their normal packed house, "especially" on a Holiday weekend. So I feel that playing there on the Sunday before the Monday Holiday will not only give me a day of rest in between, but I can now properly do my normal and expected "marathon madness" there and not be exhausted having come right from the C2K party in Vegas. >> Dear Alan T, I expect my usual HAPPY MEAL at 10AM (and not from McDonald's either) :0 PS. Please don't SuperSize it either, as I truly have been carefully watch what I eat, so a simple turkey and tomato on whole wheat with a nice fruit cup and a large coffee would be absolutley mavhelous! i dunno, i'm not particulary excited about this. opium is a nice venue, but if you guys are bitching about the door policy at space, i can only imagine what you'll be saying about this new venture for the fuel venue. i've been to a couple of things at opium, and the door guys were less then welcome to me as i arrived with myself and another friend that was not female. i WAS on the list for said events, and even personal friends w/ the promoters AND the dj's playing. i STILL had problems. "we don't let in unescorted males" after a bit of fuss, they realized i wasn't taking the piss, and let us in. they were not even busy when we got inside! sorry, but this sounds like more of the same crap this city doesn't need any more of. "VIP clubs" fuck off with that crap!! if these VIP club owners really had the knowledge to do things right, they'd realize they are ruining miami's reputation on a global scale. but for now, they can cash in on the reputation of the past for a few more years. then when they've blown the whole scene up their asses, south beach and the rest of miami will be left w/ the trash and scum of the 80's. as they laugh all the way to the bank. thanks for the memories.

chris told me a few days ago that he's been aproched a few times about residencies down here, but they never seem to bear fruit. but he's got hopes of something turning up in the near future... stay tuned. he also told me he's got a bunch of remixes he's working on and some that are coming out very soon. including a re-release of his three a.m. mix of RITM floor.i.d.a. i'll see if it's ok to post all the other details.

LOL! chris looks a little mashed up in that pic. he's one of the best dj's in the world in my opinion. i wish he'd get booked more often in miami. last time i saw him, was at his birthday bash earlier this year. tons of fun. great after party too.

the only way i'll turn up at this, is if they add ashley casselle to the lineup. ashley casselle is gatecrashers only great true resident in my opinion. shame that space has failed to recognize this.

for one, the economy is crap right now. i know at least 3 people that have been laid off in the past month because the places they worked either closed or downsized. but mostly i think it's the corporate backing pulling out because of poor advanced ticket sales. they don't really understand the culture, and they expect advance ticket sales to boom like a traditional "rock" concert. what they fail to recognize is the fact that most of their sales will come from walk up tickets. they get cold feet and pull out. end of tour. large one off events such as ultra fest work better for several reasons. first and most obvious is the fact that it takes place during WMC. second is the fact that it takes place in miami in march. loads of people will travel to come to a single event with a lineup like that, outdoors in 80 degree weather in march. if they had say 4 or 5 ultra events in the states with similar lineups in the summer. i don't think attendence figures would be anything near what they get for a one off. plus advanced sales wouldn't be as important for locals on a tour stop. i think most of ultra's advanced sales probably came from out of town peeps. my way of thinking is, "hell, if i'm gonna travel 1000 miles to an event, i damn sure wanna be sure i get in" but if i have to travel 10 mins "fuck it, i'll get 'em at the door" last reason i have for these traveling festivals not working is their lineup. each date seems to have a few "good" names, but overall the rest is just filler and locals. i'm not gonna pay $50-75 to see a couple of good dj's and a bunch of locals i can see for $10 the following week. 3/4 of ultra's lineup was filled w/ headline dj's. creamfields usa had like 2 or 3. nothing that made me wanna drive up the coast for thats for sure. mekka had a few decent people i wanted to see, but nobody i couldn't see any other time. unfortunately the main people i would have gone to see are no longer part of that lineup at space.

even though i'm not a big fan of edgar's style of playing, i do have a great deal of respect for him. he loves the music he plays. that says volumes about a person. however i don't feel that blowing the horns and jetting the cyrogenix within the first 5-10 mins of taking the decks is "proper usage". sorry. i don't care what time the set starts, 5pm or 5am. don't waste your amo in the first part of your set. it's much more dramatic then when you finally do use it.

after an extended tour of australia and new zealand our very own austin leeds ruturns home on august 22 to play an evening for the rock the boat organization at the saint in ft lauderdale. also joining austin on the decks for this evening will be noel sanger and jason dunne. please come out and show your support! maybe if you're nice, austin will play his new track w/ the lovely local vixen adriana on vocals. word is, this track was just signed to john digweed's bedrock label! see you there!!
