  4. signed, but with a suggestion. Increase the signal to the station. I never get it in Staten Island or other Tri_state areas. The only time i get it is when I'm driving Long Island, which is basically never.
  5. Man, the more I listen to this track, the more I like. You can tell its a chopped up accapella over a hard house beat, but very nicely done. I guess I'm more trying to figure out the underlying beat, if its not original. I have a 6:51 mix, but its off a mix cd. I'm lookn for the full edit. I can send to you via aol.
  6. awww yeah....Wagner HS, Staten Island, Class of '98. What a shitty school...hahah

    Intro

some records come with 1 minute efx tracks designed for intros and tweaking and shit. Others actually come with intros/outros [ie oompa loompa intro] Just got to find them in the record stores.
  12. forget that.....college is the shit. you got to get better at scheduling. I have all 2:00 and later classes, and no class on fridays. Its ridiculous.
  13. i guess I am the only one that disagrees with everyone here. I though Tiesto's set was good, but not great. For one, I thought the majority of his set was overly programmed. It seemed like he was following a little manuscript he had tacked on the wall. Nothing surprised him, at least not until later in his set. Every song and beat flowed too....carefully, I guess is the best word. Now, at about 4am, it sounded like he was really djing. You could tell b/c he went from programmed tricks, ie taking out bassline and synths and dropping songs in and out, to straight mixing. No tricks, just feeling the crowd, picking a song and going with it. Thats what I like about a DJ. Secondly, I didnt feel his music that much, but that is just the NY hard house in me, so you can scratch that from my opinion. Good night all in all. My first time at that venue. Nice people, no hassles. Shouts to Highmay from the music board. Nice meeting you.
  14. understood, and good point. My statement wasnt directed to you, but to the CD DJ haters out there. all I wanted to say is that you can still be a slammin dj with CD's. Vicious, Peters, Tenaglia case in point; CDs are the future of house and trance music. There are just some applications that CDs are better suited for: Portability - 200 cds case can carry 8 songs apiece [1600 total] vs 250 records in huge bulky crates Cost and Timliness: A producer/dj can burn a track for less than a dollar and immediately, rather than paying $50 bucks for an acetate that fucks up after 5 spins. CDs are more economical. All this translates into greater variability for the dj. I dont know of any cd dj systems that beat match for you. Everything still has to been done manually at one point [aside from hot starts], so the skill of beatmatching is still there. Its knowing your records, putting them in phase, knowing when to take out bass lines and beats, reading the crowd and song programming that separate the good djs from the rest, not the use of cd's or vinyls Of course, all of this is bullshit when speaking on behalf of hip-hop. Turntablism, IMO, is an art-form, and cannot be replicated with CDs, so I think the pioneer 1000s are a waste of money.
  15. I hate to rain on your parade, but Vicious and many other djs use CDs, including the well-acclaimed Danny Tenaglia. The medium of the music has no bearing over the skills of the dj. Talent is talent, whether with CDs or vinyl, and some have it, some dont.
  16. can someone send me these trax? Tronco - Billy Joel and Turning Out Remix I guess was out of the loop when these came out. Send to beerboi98@aol.com Thanx in advance Paul
