  1. It's really a cool, nice chill spot. I think you're going to love it. Oh, and don't forget to check it out around 6am whent it's already daytime. EXIT's rooftop gets a 10 from me.
  2. I like it. And I happen to love that last track on it. Airwave by Rank 1. She played it last time she was at Twilo. Twilo should bring her there again, this time on the main floor. She's up there with the big boys. She's that good. Anyway, at least I get to see her again in two weeks when Oakey plays at Roseland.
  3. Speaking of oldies: I can't never get enough of JP's remix of Divine's Lately. True SF anthem as far as I know.
  4. I haven't seen the laser show at EXIT since January when I started going there. Otherwise, the other effects are amazing. Specially, that kick-ass Hydrogen system. When that thing goes off with the sound it makes, trust me--you feel it. Anyway, the lights are great, the rooftop is beautiful and the club is kicking. Can't complain with that club. Im easily satisfied.
  5. You know what??? I like DJ Smokey a lot from Webster Hall Saturday nights. He used to be their hip hop dj but transferred to the main room where he plays house/trance/hip hop/even some classics and just mixes it all up. Anyway, this guy really gets into it and works the crowd. Even verbally, which most djs don't do. He changes style throughtout the night and puts on a great show. I guess he still plays there, it's been a while since I last went.
  6. My favorite drinks so far are: Vodka/Cranberry Coronas Heinekens: 'cause they're somewhat strong Red Bull:love that one, haven't tried it yet with alcohol Screwdrivers (somewhat) Long Island Iced Teas (definitely) My main complaint: Paying $8 for a drink that's water weak. Believe me, I hate that so much. Feel like I've been ripped off. Some super nigthtclub I go to does that so I tend to buy a regular beer 'cause the alcohol content is guaranteed. And oh yeah: XTC!! he he,,lol Actually, I haven't tried that. Too chicken for that. 7. Dancing in the snow??? Now that's different. I think that you should try things at least once in your life, so yup Im all for it.
  8. I really do. Such a nice chill spot. Get this, Sunday morning at around 6am: you step out from the darkened club into DAYTIME!!!--music playing, people still around. Gotta give it to that place for such a beautiful spot. This Saturday, as you came throuhg the main doors, you got directed up there. I guess they wanted everybody to check it out. Definitely, a nice addition to NYC's nightlife.
  9. I know, Saturday nights are the best and Fridays were definitely dead last year when I was going there. However, that doesn't mean that a good party can't be started there on Fridays if they do it right. It's just a matter of the right promoters and the right music. Ex: TWILO. Extremely successful Friday nights there. Tunnel can do its own things, too. Hopefully. Wasn't Tunnel Fridays really big just a few years ago??? I've heard that Baez had a great party going on there.
  10. Cool!!! I love Tunnel. With its license back, Tunnel can afford to promote and throw real parties. Im sure they'll also bring back Friday nights. Keep it up TUNNEL!!!!
  11. The scene is what you make of it--it's mostly your attitude. What if I told you that there is a city in the world that has: superstar djs. super clubs with open rooftops and waterfalls world famous clubs the most diverse music in the world world famous parties, etc,,etc, Well, that's all true about the NYC scene. With that lineup, I can't complain.
  12. I saw Groove. My opinion: Definitely, go see it. It's not a masterpiece in terms of acting or storyline but if you love the scene, it definitely reflects that. And it definitely gives you that feeling at the end of the night when a party is over. And yup, John Digweed appears on it. Plus, the music and vibe in that party: Awesome. And it's so interesting to see an illegal warehouse party. Something I've never experienced.
  13. Nestor "New School",,,he he he. LMFAO!!!!!! That's too funny.
  14. Definitely, TWILO's. The system there has been matched to perfection to the acoustics of that place. And no one sounds better there than PVD. Would also love to experience an Oakie set there but unfortunately it won't happen. EXIT's system is awesome too, but basically gets defeated by the acoustic qualities of that big space. On the dance floor, it sounds perfect. However, on the second floor bar level, it's overly boomy/bassy.
  15. Ok, I bought it a few months ago at 8Ball Records but haven't had the luck of listening to it played at a club. The name is: EXIT Records presents THE ARRIVAL (not the arrival by benny maze, btw} It's got two sides: a: the anticipation b: the joining Ok, The JOINING is my favorite one. I love that track. I would describe it as NY Trance, but Im not sure. It goes something like "Step into the light, come join us, it will not hurt you, prepare yourself for XTC". It's got a beautiful melody and buildup. Unfortunately, never heard it at a club. Anybody know what Im talking about??? Do u like it too?? ------------------
  16. That place is empty now. Kit Kat Klub closed several weeks ago. Wait and see. Most likely another club there soon. Or it'll go back to being a theatre. Who knows??? ------------------
  17. Tunnel has several things that will assure its comeback; an amazing space and layout, a world-famous name, a neglected following that will come back once the party is changed, and most important of all: a cabaret license. Mark my word: TUNNEL will be back in one form or another. There's too much potential there for the right owner/investor group. All they need to do is dump some money on it to get it fixed, pay the right people to get it relicensed, and have a grand reopening. I'll be there. ------------------
  18. Just about letting go and being free. And it's just like u don't care. You're open and free to anything. And you totally connect to the music and you're one with those around you. All worries and concerns are gone. For this night at this club, life becomes what it was meant to be: a moment of XTC. It peaks when you finally come into perfect sync with the music, and your body reflects every single beat. A total CONNECTION made real by that pretty stranger dancing in front of you. The two of you come together, bodies are locked. Hearts are beating, dancing to the perfect beat. ------------------
  19. I'm obsessed with TUNNEL. I want that place back so bad. And get this: I missed its best times. I only went there last year from the summer until the start of the winter when it still had its liquor license and it was still kicking. One way or another, somebody gotta bring it back. ------------------
  20. I'll definitely be there. Last year was amazing. Loved that water hose. They should give the djs more play time, though. If it was up to me, I would keep them all afternoon to keep the vibe going, and cut the live acts to maybe one or two. When the djs come on is the most fun part. Please don't miss this. 1:30 pm Summerstage. August 5th ------------------
  21. Definitely, check out EXIT. Specially if u never been there. You'll be impressed. ------------------
  22. Im 32. A real late bloomer. I always used to avoid clubs. Too shy for that. Anyway, I started clubbing on a regular basis over a year ago when I went to London. Decided to come to NY and hit all the clubs. Started going to places like Vanity, Webster Hall,13, Culture Club, Tunnel, Limelight, Twilo for PVD, Cox, and Seaman,--Roxy for Oakie. And these days I spend my Saturday nights at EXIT. Still need to go and check out the Factory. Im a SF virgin. Before all that, my first NYC club was Copacabana about 8 years ago for a company party. And a few years ago my coworkers took me to Blue Moose(now, Culture Club). Went there several times. Pay for it from my paycheck. ------------------
  23. You know what--the Tunnel even without its liquor license and with a smaller crowd it's still Ok. The music is still very diverse, and just the fact that you're at the TUNNEL means something. Plus, that crowd really gets into it no matter what. In no way is Tunnel like it used to be but I wouldn't completely discount it. Just get your drinks somewhere else and go there with a fun attitude and you'll still have a good night. My .02 cents.... And oh, btw--hopefully soon enough Tunnel will be getting its license back and kick ass once more. I went there from the summer of last year to Feb and even w/o JV, DT it was still a blast. You can't put a good horse down. ------------------
  24. LOL, Whatever--Got a bunch of smart ass responses to my post. Let me put it this way: Anyone who sells 10 million copies of their 1st album and goes on to have another #1 selling opening album---gets my upmost respect. Trust me, not an easy accomplishment. Just head to the nearest studio and try doing it yourself. You'll be unpleasantly surprised at how difficult this is. Oh, and btw--no dance acts ever come even close to selling cds in such high numbers. ------------------
  25. I like #11 a lot--"When Your Eyes Say It", 'cause it's a real love song. ------------------
