  1. btw, did you guys notice the dylan lyrics spoken "it ain't me babe, it ain't me your looking for" (trying not to ruin movie for others)? were there other things like that? . . . i didn't recognize anything else. ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. Tag, you lose!" --josh mintz "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
  2. lol. i'm scheduled to be here from 9-530, usually leave at 4:30, i've decided to walk out at 4 today and tomorrow :-D ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. Tag, you lose!" --josh mintz "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire

  5. um, AMC has times listed for Akira until atleast thurs. april 12. saw it on moviefone.com or one of those sites.
  6. great flick saw it last night- the cinematography was crazy between some of the decades- the 50's stand out. and that's such a small detail compared to acting and script. johnny depp narrates, so the whole time i'm waiting for him to be tripped out as if it's "fear and loathing," haha . . .
  7. hey i want to go to this, my one friend who knows who they are says it's too chilled for a live show, but i think i convince 2 others to come along but i love St. germain, it's funny i got into them so randomly- juts picked up their CD, fell in love with their sound, and lately it's one of the only 3 cds on my cd rotation. ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. 8. lol, yeah, it's totally different for everyone- all i can say is follow through! if you are going to take the classes, start interviewing the first week . . . cheers -me ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. 9. hey there, try the new school. it's run through them, but the studio classes are usually elsewhere. they have a certificate program, or you can take all the classes w/o certificate program. they offer in studio and theory classes, they're really not that expensive, and they have summer sessions too. the teachers are all prof. mixers . . . also try the institue of audio technology- they have a location somewhere in the city, but i'm not sure how their programs are ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. 10. joey's right, and divette too. a lot of it is going to be more about what you can do and how you look than if you're "certified." get some skills, buy a few ez-pour caps. the cool thing about american bartending is that they are always located ontop or below a bar, so they have you bartend there one night. i went to a place in jersey, private co.- you pretty much teach yourself and go there to practice and learn off the people you're there with. in terms of jobs- placement does not exist- i did a few private party gigs, but none hooked up from the "school." i know one girl who just started bartending somewhere in they city recently with no, experience- it's totally if you look good, they'll train you. if you decide not to take the classes- you can have my notebook ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. 11. that was quick! thanks ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. Tag, you lose!" --josh mintz "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
  12. does anyone know if they are still opening a location in NYC? ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. 13. hey lola! i took classes about 2 years ago and paid somewhere between 200-300. if you go with 1 or more people they adjust the price. have fun ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. 14. depends on what scene you are referring to, the club scene is very diverse and what is mainstream at a given moment is never going to be like another time period. . . that's part of the evolution (more like a wheel . . .). like gravity said, venues with restrictive door policies give people a sense of "i'm above everyone who didn't get in," but i don't think that stays outside. there's a level of judgement, or curiousity rather, because everyone had to be someone or look a certain way to get inside. at the same time, the club becomes your[\i] home, and hellz yeah, not every fool who wants to should be allowed in. people at places without door policies seem to be a lot more open and laid back, they're real. but when manamegement kicks out their patrons as if they are receiving some kind of public funding where they must have certain stats to fill, that's the sting of "open door . . . on your way out" reality. what really needs to be instated is better (or more) VIP policies- then the elite and patrons can remain so, with out completely restricting everyone else. ------------------ "I was on a roll until you got here. If you weren't reading this, I'd have some free time. If I weren't writing this, you'd have some free time. Tag, you lose!" --josh mintz "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire

  18. that's what i hear from everyone. also, keep in mind that verizon owns the phone lines, so even if you are getting another company as your service, verizon has to install it. and guess who their priority clients are? ------------------ "any kind of stance or belief is in its essence opposing to life and truth" "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
  19. haha! i swear i have childhood memories of people (family members) smoking out of hookahs. when i bring it up, "yeah, umm, that was tobacco." lol ------------------ "any kind of stance or belief is in its essence opposing to life and truth" "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire

  21. i know right? i just read a preview article, and i'm like, "what was i thinking." ------------------ "any kind of stance or belief is in its essence opposing to life and truth" "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
  22. they've been coming around more often lately which is cool. i'm thinking double hitter: twilo and tsunami . . . we deserve it, damn it! ------------------ "any kind of stance or belief is in its essence opposing to life and truth" "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
  23. very depressing. my dad was telling me the story this morning and tied in explaining what ecstasy was, "it's like ritalin, it's not a drug." or something to that extent . . . (i love him ). . . then five minutes later on the news they were saying how the authorities are looking to raise the stakes on ecstasy convictions to be equivalent to heroin and cocaine convictions, even though it's not addictive, because it is "an epidemic." ------------------ "any kind of stance or belief is in its essence opposing to life and truth" "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -voltaire
