April 15, 2001 Rapper Sean Combs Arrested in Miami By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Filed at 12:15 a.m. ET MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rapper Sean Combs was arrested Saturday and charged with driving with a suspended license after police pulled him over while he was riding a scooter along Ocean Drive, a South Beach strip. Police pulled Combs over about 6 p.m. for making an illegal lane change, said Miami Beach Police Sgt. Peter Bitume. A driver's license check showed Combs' license was suspended, so he was arrested and released 20 minutes later after he signed a promise to appear in court, Bitume said. The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 and possibly jail time, Bitume said. Combs was acquitted last month of bribery and weapons charges stemming from a shooting at a New York nightclub in which three people were injured. A member of his entourage was convicted of first-degree assault and is scheduled to be sentenced Monday. Combs has since announced that he's changing his stage name from Puff Daddy to P. Take a seat, fellas. After listening to the new song about a hundred times, I've come to these conclusions: Scot Project is definitly evolving as a producer. O is probably as trancy as his Back to Earth remix. You can sense he now has wisdom. He takes you more on a journey than before, say, a year and half ago, where emotions and thought took a backseat to making sure you suffered whiplash by then end of his songs (ie. 2nd Trip, Fire Wire). You can tell with Yoda and French Kiss that he relied less on his ear and more on the raw energy it provided, and he controlled it from then on. O, with its more trancy scheme to it, has the potential to be accepted universally, IMHO. It fulfills his followers with the hard basslines, but, yet, doesn't make a right turn on a one-way flight to hell (ie. Modem, Somebody). That, in turn, can give way to being a very valuable record for any DJ to have, including the world walkers. In the end, it's a phat record. One more Scot Project banger. i guess its more of a business and artistic decision...depends on the situation...i would have never heard of rockell hadnt JP remixed it (probably took connections), but then again if bette midler's posse thinks it would be cool to remix her song, then a deal gets worked out...its also about connections (AHEM, eddie baez rich luzzi)and maintaining relationships (whitney and JP)....when youre dealing with talent at such a high level, it becomes more business than anything else. If you want to know who does the choosing...most likely the artist's production group, not the remixer...if they feel that their artist's vocals go well with a mixer's production, you work something out. hope this helps. yeah...meadow should be interesting...it kinda sucks for tony to be in the situations he was in...next week looks like a huge episode... and who believes that almost every actor in that show deserves an award? It's like every scene, especially in this episode, was so well scripted and acted...Jamie Lynn-Sigler, Edie Falco, Gandolfini, Michael Imperioli, Dominic Chianese and Tony Sirico all deserve some sort of accolade.
