  1. **bump** This week we have local house legend Steve Loria with another LA native Jesse Brooks in the main room. The Magnum Cartel, Mr. Jackson and Mo'Negro will be dropping an 18th St. Lounge vibe in the downstairs, downtempo lounge. I hope some of you check it out. Especially some of you CP old timers...where are you by the way? Did everyone split again?
  2. I'll be at this years Coachella for sure. They really do a great job with this festival. I missed last years because I still had a flaccid ashback from my RV fiasco I had at the first one. This year it's all about the Ritz...unless a bunch of my shroom head buddies want to camp instead. And if you think of all you get to see, it's not that pricey.
  3. Yea, Deep has a lot of celebs hangin...or did...I think that place has run it's course. I really don't like it...to "Hollywood" trendy...plus the music sucks and that little dance floor with the plexiglass walls, it's like you're a sardine...but I do like the dancers doing the simulated sex in those glass rooms behind the bar and the glass go-go stage above the dance floor...it has some possibilities, but the owner wont' bring in a promoter yet to bring a cool vibe.
  4. Yea, I agree with Gumby about the Sky Bar...cheeseball. Too many people in all black, with black leather jackets, standing around trying to look cool, hot chicks with room temperature IQ's trying to find a guy to buy them shit...typical Hollywood cheese. Definitely not a place to go for music or atmosphere in my opinion...plenty of other spots with a view and good people. And I can't believe you wouldn't include 18th Street Lounge in your list of DC clubs...well, I know it's a lounge and not a club, but that's THE lounge. Definitely one of the best in the country as far as vibe, music and crowd go.
  5. Uhhh, yes...every club has a guest list or a promoter with one...you just have to meet someone involved. What clubs are you interested in?
  6. Not at those types of events, but when I promoted at the Sunset Room I did...and there will be some at the Key Club this Friday...come see for yourself.
  7. I'd stay at the Standard...I think it's cheaper and it's funky...yea, kinda dull, but in a cool retro way...plus it has a cool lounge that goes off on Wednesdays.
  8. If you're here on a Friday, come to my promotion. If you don't hook up with a hottie, then you've got no game, cause it's packed with honeys like a snickers is peanuts. As for looking for a NY vibe, it won't happen. Nothing really compares to NYC, that's what's great about going there and to other cites, you get a different vibe...but if you want an LA style flavor, ours is definitely the best on Friday night...that is if you're into house...but we also have a downtempo lounge downstairs with plush velvet sofa's to lounge. BT and Deep Dish will be there hanging out tomorrow. DT just played a killer small set at Deep Dish's Grammy afterparty last night (he played at the Mayan the night before)...he tried to get the owner of the place to stay open until 8AM...wasn't used to playing a little 1 and half hour set. But, unfortunately that was a no go. But back to your question...stay at the Standard...it has a swanky lounge area and a funky retro feel...plus it's not far anything in Hollywood. Email me at dave@dlishproductions.com when you get in town and I'll set you up with some shit to do that a NYer might enjoy. Peace. Dave
  9. Just want to get the 411. Does anyone have any juice there? One of our clients will be in NYC and wanted to get a table there...I thought I'd give it a shot. Any help/leads appreciated. Thanks.
  10. No worries hun. It was a kick ass party though and one of the few times that I'm down in your hood. Next time.
  11. Voted the best Friday night in LA by Los Angeles Magazine in 2000, The Spot makes it's return and will be the only house vibe on the Sunset Strip March 1st. The first three weeks will have old school, legendary house music producer/dj's that are rotating residents of the club and The Spot will always have special guest dj's monthly along with it's already stellar resident dj lineup. March 1 Juan Atkins (resident) Jeremy (resident) March 8 Steve Loria (resident) Jesse Brooks (resident) March 15 Eddie Amador (resident) Jeremy (resident) The downstairs lounge will have rotating resident's: DLish, Scotty, Mo' Negro and Mr. Jackson playing variouis shades of downtempo for those that want to lounge on the plush couches and chill for a bit. Friday March 1st (and every Friday thereafter) @ The Key Club 9039 Sunset Blvd. 10PM-2AM 21 and up (sorry kids) email thespot@dlishproductions.com for guest list info. http://www.dlishproductions.com/flyer.htm
  12. Yea, I was thinking of doing the same...so, I'll probably see you at both spots.
  13. Steve are you going??? I'm going to support Justine for sure...then what, I dunno. Maybe I'll see you there. You too Nadia
  14. Well, I'm a good drunk driver...I just can't drive on mushrooms.

Speaking of...I think Danny Elfman hit the nail on the head: I...I...I love little girls they make me feel so good I...I...I love little girls they make me feel so bad When they're around they make me feel Like I'm the only guy in town I love little girls they make me feel so good They don't care if I'm a one way mirror They're not frightened by my cold exterior They don't ask me questions They don't want to scold me They don't look for answers They just want to hold me Isn't this fun Isn't this what life's all about Isn't this a dream come true Isn't this a nightmare too I love little girls they make me feel so good I love little girls they make me feel so bad When they're around they make me feel Like I'm the only guy in town I love little girls they make me feel so good They don't care about my inclinations They're not frightened by my revelations Uh oh take a second take Uh oh it's a mistake Uh oh I'm in trouble Uh oh the little girl was just to little Too little, too little, too little Isn't this what life's all about Isn't this a dream come true Isn't this a nightmare too . . . And I don't care what people say And I don't care what people think And I don't care how we look walking down the street They don't ask me questions They don't want to scold me They don't look for answers They just want to hold me Isn't this fun Isn't this what life's all about Isn't this a dream come true Isn't this a nightmare too I love little girls they make me feel so good I love little girls they make me feel so bad When they're around they make me feel Like I'm the only guy in town I love little girls they make me feel so good
  16. I saw this was one of the entries at some multi-media/film festival at the Egyptian Theatre a while back. It looked interesting.
  17. Will do...I highly recommend that everyone should go there at least once in their life...it is amazing...I wonder what the weather's like down there in the winter when you'll be there? I wonder if it rains alot then? Email me with any questions you have and I'll try to answer them. Also, the people that put our trip together are building an amazing resort on the main island, in Pacific Harbour and they live down there around 6 months out of the year...good people to know down there, I can introduce you if you like. They're coming back the end of this month to throw a re-union party at the castle in BH (that's where they live...that place where that kid was shot a few halloween's ago, not their fault though)...This is a site I checked out for info before I left...very informative: http://www.fijiguide.com
  18. jeez...backward double post...damn newbie.
  19. Well, aside from my amazing trip (I'll just tell about the NYE night). We were on a huge 3 tier Ocean Cruiser and brought a generator, turntables, etc. to this private beach on the island across from where they filmed "The Blue Lagoon". We set our gear up, strung some lights and the rest of our 76 person crew came over...all rolling balls. We partied all night, skinny-dipped in the ocean when we got hot and had a damn good night. The locals loaded our gear back on the boat around 5AM and we continued the party on the deck. The next day we celebrated NYC's new years, then LA's, then Hawaii's (we had a couple in our group from there so we had to). Basically a 36 hour party in the most beautiful ocean, swimming with sharks and rolling balls with 76 amazing people. Pretty damn good new years. If you want to hear about the rest of the trip and see pictures, you'll have to come to one of my Fijian Kava drinking ceremonies (I bought a kick ass Kava bowl and smuggled in some Kava)...the proper attire is Fijian (or Hawaiian) print shirts and Sulu's (long Fijian/Hawaiin print skirts)...and yes, guys wear them too...I wore a skirt most of the time there, keeps the jewels nice and air conditioned (and of course board shorts for snorkling, swimming, sailing, etc.)...it's a great tradition and it's good for you and cures hangovers. Reality sucks....work sucks...driving on the right side of the road is confusing now. Bula Vanaka!!!
  20. Well, we just signed Guns and Roses, so I'm sure they'll be doing something again soon...I think we signed them a decade too late, but who knows...
  21. Oh yea...question of the day for you youngsters (no not you Gumby or Trinity)...what rapper went on from Digital Underground obscurity to hip hop royalty (with millions in royalties I might add)??? Hint: He's no longer with us
  22. First I limp to the side like my leg was broken Shakin' and twitchin' kinda like I was smokin' Crazy wack funky People say ya look like M.C. Hammer on crack, Humpty That's all right 'cause my body's in motion It's supposed to look like a fit or a convulsion Anyone can play this game This is my dance, y'all, Humpty Hump's my name No two people will do it the same Ya got it down when ya appear to be in pain Humpin', funkin', jumpin', jig around, shakin' ya rump, and when the dude a chump pump points a finger like a stump tell him step off, I'm doin' the Hump.
  23. Yes, I liked the little song...and you know I'm not going to either because I'll be running around naked with Brazilian girls in FIJI!!!!
  24. Damn, I'm not sure I have the funds to go this year. Hopefully I can talk Milan Records into sending me for marketing purposes. I have too much on my plate that I have to pay for: Fiji in Dec./Jan. Cozumel in Feb. Miami in March
  25. You wouldn't say it's juvenile if you knew the backstory (I thought is was clever)...I don't think you were back in LA yet when all the BS went down.
