I flipped to HBO the other night and the N'Sync Live Concert was on and all the teeny bopper girls had their glowstix there. Also, in between one of the sets they played house music. (No I DID NOT watch the entire thing). Anyways, I think that certain aspects of the scene are becomine mainstream, e.g., the glowstix, the clothing and the music. IMO, the entire scene is not really mainstream, cause I think only the true clubbers/ravers are gonna wait in line for an hour in the cold and stay up till the early morning to listen to our favorite DJ's. Plus only the true clubbers can sort out the cheesy mainstream shit from the real music. The drug culture is becoming more mainstream because of those Dateline/60 Minutes/Time segments which only enhance curiousity in others. Again, those people who drop outside of the club scene will never truly appreciate all the aspects of clubbing, namely, the vibe and of course the MUSIC! Lets just hope that only small parts of the scene creep into the mainstream. And for those of you at work, how many co-workers are actually into the clubbing scence? Yeah raver-mania, it was cool to meet you at last! We had to bolt due to the garages closing at 3, which is yet another moronic aspect of clubbing life in DC. Micro was ON for the couple hours I heard him, but other than your crew I bet you there were very few people who actually knew who was spinning. The DC crowds are just too stuck up and it sucks cause 5 could be a very cool venue. Holding a line outside for the sake of having a line will definitely turn people who go for the music off. They need to make up their minds whether they want to be more loungy like 1223 across the street, or more like a smaller version of Nation. For God's sake its still 18+ on Saturdays (I think). Maybe you could send an e-mail to management or something like that expressing your concerns. Another thing, what's the deal with all the guys wearing blazers or suits there? If you just want to stand around and drink just go to 1223 or 18th St. Lounge or Ozios. I guess I just wish there was a more NYC type feel to 5, but I know that will never happen. 1) People who drive slow in the left lane and won't move even when several cars pass them on the right hand side. GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!!! 2) When you remember that you need to do something, get sidetracked for a few minutes and then just 5 minutes later you can't remember what it is you needed to do in the first place. 3) When you miss the train/subway by 5 seconds and have to wait 10-15 minutes for the next one to come. 4) Pennies suck ass! Lets just get rid of them! I'll gladly pay 4 cents more just to get rid of those damn pennies. Nader is a fucking consumer advocate and would never acheive his goals if he ever got into office. He has no concept of how government works and wants to reform the entire system which has been in place for about 200 years now. Anyways, the point is that the vote in Florida is around a 2-3000 margin and Nader has about 90,000 votes there. If Gore had even 10% of those votes, it would be all over by now! I think that most of us feel like we can get up whenever the alarm clock goes off, but the snooze button is there for those times when we feel like we need a little bit more sleep. That happens to be everyday for me. I think its also a process of gradually waking up, rather than just up and go. Personally, I love the snooze button! You know that Jeb had something to do with all this! How in the hell could someone named Jeb be elected to office anyways? First all the networks project Florida to Gore. Then they all retract that and all of sudden some ballot boxes are missing! But since Nader did get around 2 percent of the vote in Florida, yes, If he would have withdrawn and urged his voters to vote for Gore, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion! The psycho only got about 2% of the national vote! That 2% truly frightens me. I just hope this recount is done soon.
