Groovefire (Little Mountain, Release, PhuturePhunk - Boston, MA) A few somewhat blurry years ago, three house music DJs met in Newport, Rhode Island, a city without house music. Together, Todd Hanna, Phil Jakob and Mike Hoska quickly ignited the area’s clubbing scene with their unique blend of funky and funky-progressive house, electro and breaks coupled with their uncompromising creed to turn every room they played into an absolute party. It wasn’t long before this trio was doing shows all over the East Coast. And just like that, Groovefire had been born. Today, Groovefire has residencies at Rise in Boston, the Sullivan Room in New York City and Andalu in Washington, DC, and otherwise perform throughout the US and Mexico. They headline events at the Winter Music Conference in Miami every year. They consistently play along side many of the world’s most respected artists, such as Deep Dish, Dirty Vegas, Charles Feelgood, Nigel Richards and Steve Porter, and regularly have mixes featured on XM Satellite Radio and a number of internet radio shows. Equally busy as producers, Groovefire has forthcoming releases on Little Mountain Recordings and Release Records and get regular plays from the likes of D:Fuse and Chris Fortier. With no interest in slowing down, Groovefire continues to maintain an ambitious touring schedule and a tireless production agenda. Plus they recently joined forces with a number of other internationally emerging dance music artists to form the collective PhuturePhunk. But as anyone who knows them will attest, Groovefire is hardly all business. Their focus remains, as it’s always been, on the party. To learn more, visit http://www.groovefire.com
