  1. there's a truckload of "urban technical wear" clothing stores on B'way starting at 8th and going down past spring... most on the west side. It's the cool shoe capital of the city (take it from a shoe freek). ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com

  9. I have a banging chicago collection that's sweet but hasn't grown for a long time. The stuff is fun to play but it needs the right setting. If I don't have the setting, I have trouble justifying buying the records. If you want, give me the place, I could give you a little chicago throw-down that would make you and your friends smile! On the chicago tip - I've noticed an interesting new style of music developing that I can only call happy-chicago. It's a fast banging 909 beat, no backbeat, with sweet cheese breakdowns. I've got a couple records I couldn't resist - one by Mark V & Poogie Bear called Happy Together - see if you can find it somewhere - it's awesome stuff. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  10. okay, you guys lost me. That web page said that DJ's with an ear, use the empty beats (intro/outro) to make their mixes because they can't take it any further. I'm disagreeing with that. I'm saying that the developed ear can piece two songs together without using tables and figures. That suggesting that someone needs a table of keys is just bullshit. are we all arguing about agreeing with eachother? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  11. wasn't the bully named "moose" or something like that? Here's a coupla for ya's (I used to do a little 80's trivia fund raiser at a club back home). Some are easy, some not: 1. What did KITT stand for? 2. What was the name of the helicopter on Rip Tide? 3. What did Mr. Rourke do after he said "Smiles everybody smiles"? 4. What were all the actress and character names of charlies Angel's? (including replacements) 4b. (easy one) Who was Charlie's voice? 5. What was the name of Isaac's bar on the Love Boat? 6. What was the name of the bar in Three's Company? 7. What was the name of Crockett's alligator? 8. What was the Skipper's real name? 9. Name 4 super vehicles from 80's tv shows. 10. Speaking of super vehicles... what was KITT's evil brother's name? 11. What is the name of Robin Master's estate in England? 12. What was Magnum's daughter's name? 13. the dogs? 14. What bridge did Higgins build out of match sticks? 15. What was Arnold's goldfish called? 16. What colour was it? 17. What's the name of Gargemel's cat? 18. What's Linus & Lucy's last name? (running out of good ones) 19. What was the theme song for tour of duty? 20. The name of the aneasthatist from the first season of M*A*S*H (I have a zillion M*A*S*H questions...) That should hold y'all for now. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  12. hey pete, on the thumbs down... I'm just being mysterious. I'm really bitchy today. grrr. I'm gonna be talking with the bar probably tomorrow night and we should find out when the next shin-dig will be. They've really beefed up the sound system upstairs and it's stupid cranking for such a small room. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I think I'm gonna stop in this sat and try to squeeze a guest set out of Jaymz. You doing CC? Warm up party? BBBBBBBRRRRRRAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!! what's shaking babeliscious? luigi, you manga cake. I will personally pay for the car service so you won't be tempted by any passing change pockets on the way over. nuff said. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com

  15. I like your cd. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  16. and that was my original point Any future technologies does not negate the need of a dj to have real musical talent above shear technical skill. There is NO computer program or fancy mixer that will be able to program. And programming is what sets the greatest dj's apart. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  17. hey - I loooove that track. I play it whenever I have the chance (like last Saturday!) Anyone who can make music like that has their head in the right space. It's like angel Alanis - he produces stuff from the hardest banginest zippiest chicago, to the smoothest silkiest sweetest filtered vibes. Straight up talent! ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  18. eh slag - I've never heard fontaine spin but if that's what he plays... isn't it ironic that he produced that lovely disco anthem from the summer? tonight - gonna leave our 9-5's up on the shelf, and just enjoy ourselves... ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  19. taken from Harmonic Mixing: Until now DJs with an ear for music avoided sour mixes by using percussion breaks or "free beats" from one of the songs being mixed. His artistry was severely limited in the same manner that a painter's would be, if the painter could never mix colors together, or if he could only mix every color with grey. Harmonic mixing is the technique of mixing different keys artistically, instead of randomly, in order to create musical blends rather than bland or sour mixes. This is absolute bullshit. Using a list of songs with bpm's and keys?!?!? DJ's with an ear avoid sour mixes by blending outros and intros? more bullshit. It's shit like this that makes me gag. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  20. The second thing every dj learns after learning how to beatmatch, is that beatmatching is the easiest part of dj'ing to learn. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com

  22. what do you consider sober? no legal drugs? just no illegal drugs? just no e? on some levels I'm out sober many a time - start to scrutinize and there's always one chemical or another making binary finary sound a little finer. So the question is... how sober? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  23. right, because phonics and logic somehow have something to do with eachother. moron? you funny missah! ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  24. just a sec... let me see if I've got this right... you can't speak for digweed, but somehow you can speak for sasha. right... okay superstar. Maybe you can ask him if he'll listen to my demo next time you stop in to see him in rehab. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
