1. Nu-NRG is a hard trancy style, the sound harkens back to oldschool hardcore. Lot's of buzzy hooverlines. Nu-NRG and UK Hard House are often lumped closely together. There is actually a label called Nu-NRG. Check out www.hardnrg.com There's lots of info there, including dj mixes. The NRG sound seems to be the direction trance is taking in the rave scene. It's a lot more fun than trance to dance to, way more energy. It's to trance, what say harder chicago house is to house music. Ever gotten into trancecore? I love it. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
2. okay, I AM NOT KIDDING. I'm sorta from Toronto. The term n'existe pas there. Unknown. Help a boy out. WTF is Freestyle please! I need old and new. now, feed my brain. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
3. you might consider Webster Hall. Avery in the downstairs room does a great "Party Classics" set. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
4. okay kids, I need someone to explain to me exactly, EXACTLY what "Freestyle" is. As far as I can tell, it's a term used only in this fair city, so I'm clueless. help? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
5. I love BXR. Just about everything on the kicks serious ass. I would label the stuff as definative Hard Trance, especially with that backbeat bass rumble. If you jump into the Nukleuz stuff, a lot of it pushes the border of Nu-NRG. Frankie, you ever get into any Nu-NRG stuff? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
6. Isn't the NBC version a jump-up jungle track? Is that the one you want frankie? It's a hype track. A long standing favorite for me. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
7. Mine would be the themesong from Laverne and Shirley. Gonna do things my way, yes my way. Make all my dreams come true. For me and you. spoony out ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
8. as much as I hate to do this I have to. PVD, that was pretty fuckin jokes. nice ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
9. funny, people on this board suggesting a certain dj's styles are best suited for cracked out 16yr olds. I suppose they prefer the music best suited for cracked out 20 somethings. Fucking hell. IMHO BBB is one of the best dj's in North America. I can't wait to see him here if he does come. And, if that is BBB posting, one quick question. Bill, why are you getting a little soft? Is it a phase? Or is this the direction you're taking? First Sneak, now you, will there be any house rockers left? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
10. And where shall one contact thee, oh great quoter of poets? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
11. so this is the best you can do? Oh, and make fun of my name? How ironic. Let me make this easy for you. Simple question, and a person so well versed in their own opinions as you are should have no problems answering it. What's the difference between a "wannabe DJ" and a DJ? I'm curious. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

13. This has been copied from the thread Trance is Dying okay divaliciouss let's try this. Instead of everytime I post something, you call me an idiot, try proving it. Try showing the board (and me) that your strong opinions regarding my every typed word are somehow justified. If you feel my points of view toward music are somehow flawed, and incorrect, let's avoid referring to me as say, a "condicending bastard" (sic) and tell me why you think I'm full of it. Try putting a little weight and justification behing your words. It's easy to badly spell insults and flaunt your ignorance. Try giving people a reason to respect your opinion. Until you can do that, you just keep making a fool of yourself. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

15. Yo, shwingey, 'sup! send me an e-mail, we'll talk survivor. Maybe we can give the winner a clubplanet lighter. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
16. we can find out at twilo. oh, you should come for drinks too, I'm much funnier when translated through four vodka-redbulls. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
17. okay, you've all got me flustered... street corners, velvet ropes, lesbians, olive people. I'll bring it up in a day er two and see if there's some sort of consensus brewing. btw - is there some sushi thing happening thursday? CM - I'll drop you a line by mail. More fun suggestions will still be taken. Please e-mail mailto:cruisedirector@spoonyd.iwarp.com ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
18. fine then. here starts the official "Marooned on the Concrete Isle for Labour Day so I'm going to Carl Cox" planning crew. We are taking suggestions for drinks beforehand, please table any suggestions. I always have to suggest the place closest to me: Leopard Lounge, comfy couches, chill party crowd, good music, $5 drinks, and groovy red lighting. We will also accept suggestions for dinners, after parties, Saturday, and even Sunday adventures. Put 'em out there, let's see what people got. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
19. i'm stuck here 2. You into Cox? Feel like grabbin drinks at the leopard lounge/liquids/anyplace followed by an all out assault on Twilo? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
20. okay, perhaps if we started narrowing down what makes a good track by looking at the tracks that seem to have been universally accepted as good and seeing what they have in common. Here's one: They are distinctive. They fit in a style but still have something that stands out and sticks in your mind. The infamous HOOK. Every good song has one. next? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
21. I sick of being bashed by you. I called you out to see if you had anything intelligent to say, and it's clear that you don't. I don't care what you think, I just needed you to prove to me that you are in fact an idiot. I think we can all see that now. Thanks for your help. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
22. I find this point interesting, and my point is NOT about trance, but about music in general: [qoute] I never have, i have just put forward the fact that all the pioneers of trance are distancing themselves from it (PvD, BT, Sasha have all said on the record they want out because 90% what is made is throw-away).
23. nice one. personally though, I think it's fun watching the styles mesh again after years of producuers strictly refinig sounds. Oddly enough, some of your joke sounds exist (with a little liberal application) Hip-Techno = UK Hardhouse 2Step-Techno = Speed Garage (perhaps that's a stretch) The rest of them aren't far off. Trance isn't dying, people are just forgetting what it's supposed to sound like. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
24. I always wondered where the famous "Amen Break" took it's name from. Bring on the next looming question from the lore of electronic music. Let's play "Spot The Warriors Samples" "Riff Yea! Can you feel it?" ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
25. X-it in Toronto, is very very very very very different than Exit NYC. I think New York has a corner on the "over the top glam club" market. But Guv comes close. As for guestlists , Toronto doesn't have quite the same guestlist system as here. Your best bet is to call the club in advance you can probably get some courtesy. have a great time. Tdot is one of the best party places to be. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
