  4. okay, everyone, make a list of spots, pick a night, and just let me know before 6 or 7pm friday cuz I don't have a home 'puter. I'll start the official list: Liquids Drinkland Leopard Lounge Please add. I'm not around next weekend. Anyone care for tomorrow or two Saturdays from now? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  5. I've only been in liquids once and it was a dnb thing. Seemed okay, crowd was a little stiff. Drinkland is a way cool spot, but the music is always kinda sucky, 'cept Sundays where the jungle's not bad. Not enuf jungle in this town. I can always be found at the Leopard Lounge (c of 5th & 2nd Ave - upstairs). Always good music, slick crowd, it's across the street from my place, and Matt mixes a tight vodka cran. We should all plan an East Village Lounge Hop some time. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  6. tonights is going to be the night of all nights. I only hope the crowd is as small as it was last time dd was here. I pretty freekin psyched for this. Long time since we've had some good house fuckers in the booth on a Friday. Say hey if you spot me. Kahkis, orange shirt over white t-shirt, ball cap & necklace reading "techno slut". I'll prolly be bustin moves left and right so carefull I don't step on you. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  7. are you on the hulla board? reasons for asking: 1. You like the hhc (Frolic on your top 10!) 2. You posted the ravers manifest - a hulla staple. 3. I haven't seen anyone here use the term e-tard well? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  8. I would like to add another facet. If a deejay is playing two nights in a row a continent apart, I think the requirment for continually creating new original and creative sets is diminished. No one is going to know if it's the same set you played the night before! Once you establish a few songs that go well together, if you have enough small mixes that you like, you only need to worry about bridging your mixes, which should be easy for an experienced deejay. Hopefully, by the time a months has passed and you're back at that same club, your set will have evolved enough with new some new tracks that it will seem fresh. I'll admit this does not lessen how physically gruelling it must be. My heart really goes out to the club deejays who have to play to the same crowd every week for a whole night. These are the guys who are really challenged to keep it fresh. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

    What is

I'm a deejay. Any production I do is just at home, for fun. I need to solidify my take on music before I start making my own. I have all the equipment I need, the rest will come in time. yourself? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  10. e-tard: I'll drop ya a line sometime jaysea: You won't find any fights here. Like I said, I can understand how it's easy to not enjoy the Hulla thing. It takes a certain mind set. At least it's happy. So far I haven't felt the love down here. It's just a little disappointing for me. I don't enjoy being crammed into a room full of rushing, angry kids. If there's parties worth attending, please tell me. There's nothing I'd like more than a good party with a tight vibe. For now, like you I suppose, I'm sticking to the clubs. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  12. heh, after all this fuss, ther person for whom the message was originally intended finally shows up. HI! You have you're e-mail addy hidden, so there's nowhere to drop a message. Mine's not, so feel free to get in touch. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  13. actually, it's www.hullabaloo-raves.com you see, you forgot the dash between "hullabaloo" and "raves". Also, you misspelled "complimentary"... twice. don't you forget that spoony d the original infiltrator ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  14. I can understand people going to a Fun Fur Fest like Hullabaloo and thinking they are gay, or stupid, even lame - it's really an acquired taste. But I really strongly disagree about the "Fake" part. Toronto parties are the closest things to the true raving spirit going. I haven't been to a single event down here that could touch a hulla party when it comes to vibe. Whistle was pretty tight, but still nothing like a Toronto party. There's nothing fake about that. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  15. <unsolicited plug> I've been to these events. They're great FUN and the music is super tight. The space is uber cool as well. </unsolicited plug> I'll try to catch y'all there. don't miss this. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  17. MUTHALOAD!!! - out of nowhere with the first good pick on the list! PVD played that track TWICE when he was here three weeks ago. I freaked, cuz I was sure I was the only person who had it. Pure sweet. It's in one of my summer mixes if you go to my webpage (below) you can hear them. My new winning track - sure to be huge, but I don't even think it's in stores right now - It's by PPK, I don't know the title - I only have the white label. It's the last track on my EP-TECH tape. You oughta check it out. Wow, what a song. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  18. got it on right now I'll mail a review. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  19. not to argue, but for the sake of discussion... I don't mean duplicate sets. I'm talking about having several standard mixes. If I know songs xy&z go well together, and I know song jk&l have a humping rythym, with a a couple songs to bridge, there's 8 songs with very little work. I've done it, and it not only does it take some pressure off, but it ensure some floor energy with a mix that you know is sweet. There are deejays that are known for always playing certain songs together, and I don't short them for it. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  20. I'm sorry, I don't recall the subject line reading "glynis - pls read" I'm assuming you're joking. Let me know if you're not so I can flame you accordingly okay? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  22. I've been asking this same question. Crystal is HOOOJ in Toronto. It's almost become the hardcore raver's drug of choice. It's almost funny, all the party kidz there are skin and bones. Here, no crystal. I guess it's a good thing. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

    What is

thank god, an easy question. White label refers to a record which has no printed label in the center. Just a white label with either no printing, or perhaps hand writing on it. White labels can be one of two things. 1. Before a record is released officially by a record label, test pressings and promotional copies are released to some deejays and record stores. When people say they have a white label of a new track, that means they've got it and no one else does because it isn't released yet, only "out on white label". 2. Very limited runs and bootleg records are usually white labels becuase no one is going to do artwork and label printing for a record that won't be going into wide distribution. Therefore - having a white label means it's a special record that not many other deejays are going to have, and often times you don't even know the artist or track title. That's part of the fun of deejaying, having that phat track that no one else does. I love my white labels. -did I get that right? Anyone else care to add? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  24. that's so bizarre. I was just talking about sneak with a friend this morning and even went to his site to see if there were any dates for him in the area. Sneak is in my world top 10 for sure. His house is funky and booty shaking. I've seen him in venues large and small - 10,000 peeps to 50, and in the small room he'll bust your ass large. Last time I saw him was in a tiny bar in Toronto in February. I understand he's been living in Toronto for the past year. I've been dying to see him again since. He was supposed to play at the Roxy back in Feb when they were doing those great Friday nights, but his flight from Toronto was cancelled cuz of snow. So, I need to know... IS SNEAK AROUND?!?! ANYONE KNOW?!?! It's been too long and I need my Sneak fix. help. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  25. personally I go by Techno Slut I even have the jewelery to support my claim. I am really starting to get into techno. It's very intelligent music, not for the faint of heart, nor closed of mind. It's music for music appreciators. I knew I'd moved to the dark side when I started liking DJ Dan's techno sets better than his house sets. But, if you need proof of techno afficianados being snobs, check out the Techno forum on the www.tribe.ca message board. These are people who spent a week bitching after a single post mentioned Carl Cox as a techno deejay. heh. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
