  2. MUTHALOAD!!! - out of nowhere with the first good pick on the list! PVD played that track TWICE when he was here three weeks ago. I freaked, cuz I was sure I was the only person who had it. Pure sweet. It's in one of my summer mixes if you go to my webpage (below) you can hear them. My new winning track - sure to be huge, but I don't even think it's in stores right now - It's by PPK, I don't know the title - I only have the white label. It's the last track on my EP-TECH tape. You oughta check it out. Wow, what a song. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  4. not to argue, but for the sake of discussion... I don't mean duplicate sets. I'm talking about having several standard mixes. If I know songs xy&z go well together, and I know song jk&l have a humping rythym, with a a couple songs to bridge, there's 8 songs with very little work. I've done it, and it not only does it take some pressure off, but it ensure some floor energy with a mix that you know is sweet. There are deejays that are known for always playing certain songs together, and I don't short them for it. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  7. I've been asking this same question. Crystal is HOOOJ in Toronto. It's almost become the hardcore raver's drug of choice. It's almost funny, all the party kidz there are skin and bones. Here, no crystal. I guess it's a good thing. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

    What is

thank god, an easy question. White label refers to a record which has no printed label in the center. Just a white label with either no printing, or perhaps hand writing on it. White labels can be one of two things. 1. Before a record is released officially by a record label, test pressings and promotional copies are released to some deejays and record stores. When people say they have a white label of a new track, that means they've got it and no one else does because it isn't released yet, only "out on white label". 2. Very limited runs and bootleg records are usually white labels becuase no one is going to do artwork and label printing for a record that won't be going into wide distribution. Therefore - having a white label means it's a special record that not many other deejays are going to have, and often times you don't even know the artist or track title. That's part of the fun of deejaying, having that phat track that no one else does. I love my white labels. -did I get that right? Anyone else care to add? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  9. that's so bizarre. I was just talking about sneak with a friend this morning and even went to his site to see if there were any dates for him in the area. Sneak is in my world top 10 for sure. His house is funky and booty shaking. I've seen him in venues large and small - 10,000 peeps to 50, and in the small room he'll bust your ass large. Last time I saw him was in a tiny bar in Toronto in February. I understand he's been living in Toronto for the past year. I've been dying to see him again since. He was supposed to play at the Roxy back in Feb when they were doing those great Friday nights, but his flight from Toronto was cancelled cuz of snow. So, I need to know... IS SNEAK AROUND?!?! ANYONE KNOW?!?! It's been too long and I need my Sneak fix. help. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  10. personally I go by Techno Slut I even have the jewelery to support my claim. I am really starting to get into techno. It's very intelligent music, not for the faint of heart, nor closed of mind. It's music for music appreciators. I knew I'd moved to the dark side when I started liking DJ Dan's techno sets better than his house sets. But, if you need proof of techno afficianados being snobs, check out the Techno forum on the www.tribe.ca message board. These are people who spent a week bitching after a single post mentioned Carl Cox as a techno deejay. heh. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  11. Hello, I believe the proper term is: Techno Snob let's get it straight. wish I could be there. Someone tell me how it went aight? for the record, official music lover terms as stated in NARI 2000 (North American Ravers Index): Techno Snob Trance Head <-- try not to confuse with techno! tsk! What is

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you're asking about any music industry ties, I have none. I'm just really good at record shopping. Though I do have one german record label sending me promos, but that's only cuz I harrassed them lots. Is that what you meant? ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  16. YAY! On a historical note, that is the one track that almost single handedly got me into what at the time was referred to lovingly as "Techno Music". The rest is history - 7 years of raving and no signs of stopping. It also represents a gaping hole in my record collection. If anyone know where I can lay hands on a vinyl copy, I would be very grateful. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  17. Could it be O Fortuna? Has a choir singing O Fortuna from Carmina Bruana - I forget the composer. Came out around '92-3, re-released in a couple of forms over the last year. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
  18. uhm, best night since Carl Cox. This is going to be a serious music night. No foolin. Look for seriously hard house, funky house, touch of breaks possibly from Maas. Last time, deep played it kinda steady and didn't open up till after 5 when they kicked large with their re-mix of Madonna's new "Music" track (first time the song was ever played). Was off the hook after that - zoinks! I will be there with bells and whistles on. just can't wait. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  21. frankie, that's hardcore. consider your ass bumped up the respect ladder. This makes me wonder something else. How come people get all gushy when a big name deejay plays for more that a couple hours? I know I was freaking out when PVD just kept going and going, past the 7 hour mark. Now, maybe that's an extreme case. but c'mon. For all the $$'s they're gettin paid, 4+ hours seems like it should be the norm, not the exception for international deejays. I'm sure Frankie up there wasn't getting any $10,000 cheque for droppin 6 hours of platters. Much respect. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com

  23. On Friday night I got a late call to play a gig at some place on the LES (the rivertown lounge). They wanted me to play out the night. I got there a little before midnight and started playing. I had to play for over 4 hours straight, which is the longest I've ever gone straight. Let me tell you, at about 3:15 i just about lost it. I couldn't see straight, I couldn't hear straight. I'd forgotten what all the songs in my box sounded like, I couldn't hear a beat in my headphones, or match beats, or pick tracks, I was exhausted and losing my nut sitting in a little booth perched up above the bar where no one could see me coming unravelled. argh. Maybe it was partly becuase I couldn't see the crowd, and maybe cuz they couldn't dance and there was ZERO interaction, I don't know. But after seeing deejay after deejay play for 5, 8, 12 hours even, man until you've tried it... I don't think I can ever speak badly of another deejay again. At least the night had some pretty stellar moments musically, even though I'm sure hardly anyone noticed. I was able to pull myself back together to finish out the night on a high-note, but man, for a while there I swear I was going to lose it completely.
