  1. Rob, I promise I did not mean to make you feel in any way persecuted. That having been said, I do mean to suggest that the relative comfort and privelege that we enjoy here in the states is (i believe) built upon the sweating backs of the billions around the globe who have nothing and labor hard. That is the "sick brand of capitalism" to me. Not the simple buying and selling of goods in an Adam Smithian kind of way, but a cariacature, a distortion of a healthy economy is what we have. When almost every export commodity around the world is raped from the earth and its people and we continue to buy SUVs and wear Nikes, etc..( I am certainly not perfect here, but sometimes the frustration of my awareness overcomes me) I'm just posting a dialogue here with you that I am frequently unable to have in my quiet little university existence. (Princeton is frighteningly conservative) Again, this whole thing has been off topic - but I certainly enjoy a good discussion. Apologies for overheating earlier, but I'm certain you understand. It's just a fact that everything here was stolen by colonialism and is to this day for the enrichment of not very many. Even the comfort in which you and I live is a kind of silencing weapon used by the truly powerful to keep the masses 'like' us in a state of complacency (they hope). And the suffering around the globe (and here in NYC + USA) should be a part of each person's education. But I don't imagine that the educational system here is in any way meant to grow inquisitive minds, but rather to foster a huge number of docile and efficient consumers. How's that for a great number of tangents in one long run-on paragraph/rant? -Ian ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  2. Sorry for the typos and overgeneralizations in my recent post, I think we have gotten a bit off topic here. Anyway, this ridiculuous election season amounts to a choice between tweedledumb and tweedledumber. (all I meant to say) ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  3. Rob, I've no doubt that you are a hard working individual who is deserving of plenty of material comforts. But we do not live in a fair world, do you honestly think it is possible for everyone to well employed doing good work for themselves and the benefit of society as a whole. Do not be naive. Don't be deceived by the myths of complacency which our deeply evil system has instilled within you since birth. some hints: 1) Turn off your TV, never turn it on again, except to veiw a film on your VCR 2) Travel. Not to some pleasant all-inclusive.. really travel. Go outside of the USA! It will alter your perspective. The US is the worst thing to ever happen to the world's people. We just have the misfortune to have born into ths orwellian police-state and most of us here still beleive that we are "free".. AHHHH, sorry, I'm getting angry. Not at you.. Just frustrated by the injustice of it all... so many intelligent individuals here being misled by the likes of the NYTimes and Monsanto, and the US gov't, and by those with an entrenche interest in maintaining te status quo which is patently racist, classist, and absolutely hateful of alternative viewpoints. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  4. I definitely want more women in politics, both nationally and locally. My personal theory is that we need an african-american-woman-mother as president... However, Hillary Clinton is deeply and profoundly arrogant and feels she can walk into NY and have the "Party" hush any dissenting voices, which is essentially what's happened. She's as bad as D'Amato and Giuliani ever were. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  5. Okay guys, honestly, who do you think that the "economy" is booming for??? You? If you're doing well - great, more power to you. Most people are not "booming" right now. You should at least recognize that our sick brand of capitalism is not benefitting the majority of people. Most here and around the globe are basically slaves to the man, whether as better compensated "middle class" cogs in the corporate wheel or as your unfortunate clerk making $6/hour for a shitty service position ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  6. Yup, Shadow, we Jerseyans really know how to drive. I was in SoCal for the last couple of years and those fools were actually polite! They would stop at the entrance to an intersection and wait intil there was room on the other side to go through. I will print out your list and share it with my friends down here! ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  7. HA! I had absolutely no idea what to expect... Damn, I'm prettier tham I thought. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  8. Hi Randy, we're building long-term here, a serious and lasting progressive front. It doesn't matter if Dubya wins this term, it'll be a good cold shower for the Dems. Or it will eliminate them, which is fine. A vote for Nader IS a vote for a TWO party system, if you get my drift. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  9. Hey! There's nothing fundamentally wrong with coke-sniffing! Just being a moron that's problemic. And he most emphatically is a moron. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  10. Yikes! I live on Volvic. NY + NJ tap water seems toxic to me, but. . . Off topic - Isn't it awful what some bloody promotors charge for water when they know that everyone's rolling? ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini

  13. Well, to amend what I posted earlier, I might not have bought tons more CDs if I had to pay full retail, but here in the People's Republic of Princeton we have an amazing thing called the Record Exchange, it's at 20 s Tulane St. and I promise is well worth a train ride down from NYC or North Jersey. They go through hundreds of thousands of titles each week and you never know what you'll find on CD or Vinyl on the cheap. Okay, that was such an ad, but if you've been there you know. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  14. This is a brilliant hypothesis! It should be worth a psyche Ph.D or something. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  15. So... I don't want to be a pain, but could y'all give a cross street so I (as a NEW newjerseyan) won't get lost? Boavista sound fun this weekend, NY Ave and what intersection?? Is there parking, should I take NJ Transit? Abyss in Sayreville on Rt 35 and what? Thanks so much for the advice, and peace... ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  16. I use a "Que!" CD-R drive, it writes at 12x which is lovely but you must have an IEEE-1394 (Firewire) port to use this one. Anyway, I love it! $350. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  17. Right on!!! I'm all for androgyny, but.... ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini

Just get comfy to deal with those horrendous crowds of nondancing standees and flashy to suit your glamorous clubbing ego! ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  20. Forgive me for intruding here but I want to tell you that your very public conversation here is quite beautiful. It deserves a reading as a monologue or short play. JK, but really, I think you guys are sweet; hope you don't mind my saying so. ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  21. I must say that since downloading Macster, my CD purchasing has skyrocketed. I'm now able to find so much more recorded music that I love. Anyway, fuck Metallica and Dr. Dre, they suck anyway... ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
  22. HeeHeeHaahaa! You had me very disturbed about this! Oh well, we do in fact live in an orwellian police state! ------------------ "There is no beginning and no end, only the infinite passion of life." -Federico Fellini
