On the first floor, just outside the bar, there's a really cool mixed-gender bathroom, in which each stall has pictures of tattooed peeps on it. Walk up the stairs above this bathroom -- I forget if it's on flight or two. Anyway, the room immediate adjacent to the top of the stairs should be the Fishbowl room.... I think? I'm so excited, I almost made a mess of my keyboard. Assuming I ever have some down-time from the job search, I'm definitely gonna load some tracks onto my Nomad and hit the gym with Tiesto in my head. And I'm really hoping I can order Magik VI and have it delivered in time for LL on Saturday -- I would LOVE to have a signed copy from the Master. I think I _did_ see you! I was there with my sisters and a few friends.... it was a good time. I had on an orange shirt with a silver stripe, and black/yellow cargo pants..... the biggest piece of crap was when they turned off the tap in the bathroom. To those who care -- sorry I haven't been around recently. My company (said "computer" before... yeesh) finally closed down last Tuesday, and so I've been occupied with the job-search thingy.... being po', like, sucks and stuff. However, I do have a temporary, two week stint..... which means I'm temporarily a downtown CNYC'ers. Good to see you, too, Sharon...... Last night was pretty good. That first DJ was friggin' horrible -- it seemed like he couldn't a single track for more than 15 seconds before deciding to segue into some other totally different type of music. But I thought that the acts that came after Spacegirl were pretty good -- Christopher Lawrence threw down some interesting stuff, and Dave Ralph definitely had some fun tunes on the shelf. About the crappiest things about the rave were a) the advance ticket holders' line, the turned-off taps in the bathrooms, and c) the coat check line at the end. Hehehe. I'm personally not too afraid...... music will find a way to flow and thrive, even if Napster isn't the crackpipe used to do so. All of the hardcore, modem-wield geeks out there used BBSs "back in the day" to get pr0n; people still use IRC now to trade software, music, pr0n and other goodies normally charged for. All it takes is a bit of coordination -- hell, you get all CNYCers together, pool all unique CDs, buy one or two 80 GB hard drives. Slip those drives into a computer sitting on a residental DSL / educational T-1/T-3 line, rip and encode all the songs to those drives over the course of a few weeks, yer good to go. And if you distribute the workload amongst people who have burner/ripper gear and the bandwidth to upload quickly to the host server, you cut that build-out time by an order of magnitude. The RIAA shouldn't be worried about Napster. They should be worried about its successor...... when music-swapping goes distributed, you're gonna see a lot of music execs reaching for their Pepto. ------------------ -=Vejita=- "Live through the week.
