  1. I hardly ever get to watch Buffy, but I really really really want to see the musical episode tonight. I might have to go to an afterwork function, so I might miss it. I'm trying to figure out how to tape it while I'm gone. it looks great. that show is sooo underrated. FG
  2. k, so I'm really really late in replyingn here. but I've been offline for the past week trying to switch from modem to dsl (verizon is cluless). wanted to give big hearty thanks to clubkat for posting the pics! that's the first pic I've seen of me or pepper k from halloween. cool! you rock! it was great meeting you at vinyl. and hi to tastyt and brooklynkid (you must've freaked out everyone walking down the street). always great to meet more vinyl buddies. that was one of the best nights I've ever had. I couldn't believe how many people dressed in costume and how good the costumes were! Danny was in rare form, it was just an all around good vibe. my favorite part of the night was when some woman came up to me and said "I'm so glad you're a unicorn. everyone always forgets about the unicorn"....I'm not quite sure what that meant, but it became the quote of the night. 3. I have a b-day party to go to tonight, so I doubt I'll be able to make it. FireGirl
  4. a very belated "Hi" from she of the shaved head. it was great to see you both at the crystal method/fatboy slim pier concert last month. looked like you were all digging it. that was the first time I had danced in about 6months, it felt great, especially to be outside. sorry I haven't been on the board. in addition to other chaos, my computer system is degrading and it's now too slow for me to use the club planet board from home...it literally takes several minutes for each page to load. so I can only post every now and then when I find a faster machine. I hope that you and those close to you have been safe during the recent events. the past month seems like a big whirlwind blur. Marc/Pepa K is fine, but he lost a childhood friend in the towers. wishing you happiness and good beats, peace, FireGirl
  5. There's a great DJ spinning tonight (Saturday), from 9pm to 1am, at the Blah Blah lounge in Park Slope Brooklyn. the DJ's name is Pepa K (that's Pepa as in flava, baby). it's FREE, there are usually movies playing throughout the night, and you can order drinks or yummies while you soak in some great beats. this is a great place to start off your night before you head out to the clubs. it's also a great place to spend your night if you wanna keep things low key. Pepa K spins a mix of great stuff, usually starting off the night kinda ambient, then moving into harder house, then ending with fun feel good beats. and he's great to watch because he really enjoys spinning--by the end of the night he's all booty shaking and hands in the air. I've seen him many times and I've always enjoyed it. don't be afraid to let the DJ know if you dig it (between mixes of course). DETAILS: tonight, Saturday FREE, 9pm-1am Blah Blah Lounge Park Slope, Brooklyn 11th Street, between 7th & 8th Ave (a few doors in from 7th Ave) by subway, take the F or the N/R: 1) take the F to 7th Ave Brooklyn, exit at 9th St and 7th Ave, walk up 7th Ave to 11th Street, make a left on 11th -or- exit at 9th St and 8th Ave, walk up 8th Ave to 11th Street, make a right on 11th 2) take the N/R to 9th St Brooklyn, you'll exit at 9th St & 4th Ave, walk up the hill on 9th Street (towards the park) to 7th Ave, make a right on 7th Ave, walk up 7th Ave to 11th St, make a left on 11th
  6. thumbs up to mugwump for starting the thread, feel better knowing I'm not the only freak who does this. It's happened to me a couple of times (sans speaker) when I've been by myself and very zoned into the music, kinda weirds me out when it happens. then there's always those build-ups that aren't full Os, but feel great. I almost prefer those. I think cathyo described it best. you feel most alive in those moments you know about that, too? discovered that by accident once. speakers are good things. : ) FireGirl ------------------ nurturing the embers

  9. just checked my dt post for info...thanks guys...and felt all warm and fuzzy when I read some of the responses. you guys rock. vampienyc10...sorry if I seemed to have abruptly dropped off or caused any worry. miss your posts, too. cathyo...good to hear from you. pooh...how are you, man? boa...you're in the city!!! yay, oh yay!! and soho, did you win the lottery or do you have a sugar mama? hey, notforkids...thanks for keeping me in the loop on the darker side of nightlife. regret I wasn' t up to it. I had a really rough winter where I kept catching one awful cold/flu after another. and work simultaneously doubled in time and stress. so the last thing I had the energy for was keeping up with emails. even my close friends got neglected for a long while. but I'm coming over the hill, or at least nearing the top. won't be able to post nearly as frequently, but hope to be a bit more sociable. funny, from the looks of the board I haven't missed much....music, drama, boobies... : ) drop me a line & let me know what'cha been up to. I'm going to miami for the wmc and staying for many days before and after...be funny if I ran into any of you there. peace and all that, FireGirl firegirlnyc@yahoo.com ------------------ nurturing the embers
  10. Thanks for the scoop, mixemdarker! any idea what vinyl stores in nyc might carry that type of music? and BOA-BOY!! hey there, long time no chat! yeah, I got really really sick, then really busy and have had almost no time for the boards. how ya doin? made it to the states yet? FireGirl ------------------ nurturing the embers
  11. hmm....weird. I know he's been playing that song for ages in the clubs. but there's also an MP3 release floating around specifically from dt, and I heard a lot of buzz that he was releasing a cd with that song on it...which would suggest a mix of some kind from him. any idea where I can find A version of it, by whoever, on vinyl? peace, FireGirl ------------------ nurturing the embers
  12. I'm looking for a Danny Tenaglia mix of Cevin Fischer's "love you some more" on vinyl. heard it was released early this year but can't find it. any idea where I can get it in nyc? FireGirl ------------------ nurturing the embers

  14. clubhead... briefly glanced at the responses here. I think one person said it well...you either get it or you don't. Vinyl is like religion...for the love of god, go, man, go! it's the club for people who don't like clubs...you go, you sweat, you smile, you scream, end of story. it's all about the music. you can go as stylin or as casual as you want...because it's all about the music. did I mention you should just go?!! Vinyl has a cult following. Body & Soul is practically a lifestyle by now. Danny T is a fantastic dj. he's not the most amazing dj in the world (because there are a lot of great djs), but he's among the top. and he's the only dj that, no matter where I hear him spin, has me literally screaming from pure joy/release/emotion within 10 minutes. fee ranges from $12-20 depending on the night and your discount. if you've never been, it's certainly worth checking it out. but go late, like don't arrive before 1pm. and if you hate it, you can always head to another club. 15. I think a mess of people are going to exit and also to twilo. I'm going to vinyl and meeting some folks there. you're welcome to join. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers

  17. oooh. Aiden Quinn is stunning in that unassuming kinda a way. lucky you. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  18. so, ok. I finally got time to check the board and thought everyone's response was funny so I replied, like, 20 times. so shoot me. : ) this topic's so funny to me because I have *always* been told I look like someone else...everyone's exgirlfriend, little sister, and every famous person with a heartbeat. used to get Julia Roberts out the wazoo. and it always seems to come back to Sigourney Weaver in one form or another, especially with the new 'do. then there's been Elizabeth Perkins (Big, Flintstones), Sean Young (Blade Runner), Emma Sams (I think she was on GH), Terri Hatcher (she's in those radio shack commercials), Sinead O'Connor (even with hair, go figure), and there was a Katie Holmes (Dawsons Creek) moment, but I think that's just cuz I smile crooked . ...hey, don't laugh. I take no responsibility for other people's delusions. : ) FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  19. I don't really see jim carrey, but yeah, you do remind me of someone. just can't figure out who. *w* FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  20. oh god that's funny! sliders! i remember that show from before it got all tarty! lol. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  21. that is too f-ing funny. knew exactly what you meant when you said it. a friend and I use the phrase "herby hair" when one of us is having a particularly odd hair day. on the bright side, herby really is kinda cute. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  22. omg, you so don't look like erkl. she was smokin something. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  23. yep, he's spinning between the Danny's Angels sets. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  24. I have this funny bowling experience... I have 2 younger step brothers (now in their very early 20s). I only see them twice a year, which made it hard to bond and get to know them growing up. the live in SC and there's not a lot to do there, especially in the winter. so when I'd go down to visit we'd end up going bowling so we could do something together. after years of this I just assumed this is something they always did with their friends as entertainment. so one year--I was probably around 25, the were around 17 + 18-- we're at the bowling alley and had gone a few turns and ... me: "boy you guys are probably gonna woop my butt since you bowl all the time. I haven't bowled since I was last here." >> them: "neither have we." "what do you mean, I thought you guys bowl all the time" >>"no we only bowl when you come, we thought you liked it" "well I'm only bowling coz I thought you did it" ...then we all kinda looked blankly for a moment as we processed the fact that we had been doing this for *years* and I said "so what are we doing here?" it was really awkwardly funny FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
