  1. saw your posts in the "what are we wearing for halloween" thread...are you guys joining the devil's army for the village parade? or are you just coincidently dressing devil-like? just wanna make sure you get the meetup info if you're marching with us. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  2. can't find my pics. but I'll be in costume, so it wouldn't matter much anyway. I'll be all in pink, with a pink tutu and pink wings. streamers on my pink glowsticks. shouldn't be hard to miss me. so I'll see you all at 1, in the hall. hey, we'll be the kids in the hall. 3. very nice. I'm impressed with your articulate post. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  4. um,honey, you need to read more. first of all, statistically speaking, drug use is higher in suburbs than cities. second, drug use among older adults is higher than among teens and young adults. to suggest, as you did in your initial post, that shutting down 3 measely clubs is going to solve the country's, or even the city's, drug problem is childish and absurd. these clubs are not creating a drug problem, they are simply one avenue of it. shutting the clubs down will just mean that people will use drugs elsewhere. a relatively small percentage of patrons at clubs are using drugs. drug use at parties, bars, homes, etc is greater. to blindly group 3 wholly different clubs together--sf, twilo, vinyl--shows your lack of knowledge about these clubs and their atmosphere and activities. if you don't like drugs, don't do them. if you don't want to be around them, don't frequent places or associate with people who use them. the clubs are not the problem here, a greater social issue which creates and services a need for drugs is. if you really want to do something about the drug problem, why don't you join a public service organization that is worthwhile. like become a mentor to teens to teach them the risks and give them alternatives. or work with chemically addicted adults to help them live with their addiction. or go into law enforcement and attack the big guys--the dealers and the drug lords. all of that would earn a lot more respect than empty trendy moral-majority rantings and convenient band waggoning. walk the talk man, or don't talk at all. 5. wait, I'm confused. according to the flyer for maskarave, tunnel doesn't open til midnight on sat. is this a pre-meetup or replacing the later meetup in the hall that Rob suggested? I'm really looking forward to going and would really love to meet up with you guys there and get silly. plus, I think my bf is coming and I'd like to introduce him to some list folks. 7. of course you're going to want a fashion background. but it sounds like you're more interested in the business/industry/writing aspect of fashion...in which case I would say to get a writing degree with some business classes or minor...or a business degree with some writing classes. speak to people who do what you'd like to do. it's a great way to get free info. they're called information interviews...you contact someone saying you're interested in entering their field, really respect them, shine them on, ask for a bit of their time (phone, buy lunch, etc). then you can ask questions like how they got started, why they took the job, what they like. it makes the other person feel important, gives you info, and gives you a potential job lead. FIT is the standard for fashion. as far as other creative fields go, I think SVA is the best. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  8. that is my favorite joke ever, mostly because it's the only one I can remember. it makes me laugh all the time and when I have to tell a joke, that's it. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers

  16. FRI OCT 27 vinyl with danny tenaglia there is technically a h-day party on friday...costumes are encouraged, some giveaways...but it's a more casual effort than say, the spider ball. still, it's vinyl, it's dt...'nuff said. and I think it's a nice balance to the full h-day rage of maskarave. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
  17. sorry, forgot to add dt to the halloween list. yes, there is technically a h-day party on friday...costumes are encouraged, some giveaways...but it's a more casual effort than say, the spider ball. FG ------------------ nurturing the embers

  19. I hear you on this, I stopped even trying to look at the pics. I posted a while back to see if anyone would be interested in having the pics on a website, catalog style, to avoid the horrifically long thread to wade through...and I was told someone was working on it. I'm guessing we just sit tight in the meantime? FG ------------------ nurturing the embers
