  1. The start point is 14th and 7th avenue around 12pm on Sunday. I will be going with some friends of mine and anyone else that wants to meet up is more than welcome. ---------------------------------------------- Copied from unitedforpeace.org On August 29, United for Peace and Justice will hold an impassioned, peaceful, and legal march past Madison Square Garden, the site of the Republican Convention. When the Republicans descend on New York City with their agenda of war, greed, hate and lies, they will be met by a massive, diverse, peaceful outpouring of dissent, as huge numbers of us join together in a spirit of nonviolence for a legal, permitted march on August 29 to say NO to their destructive and divisive policies. Together, we will send a message so powerful it cannot be ignored: We are fed up with the direction that the Bush Administration has taken this country! There are two key moments this year when people throughout the United States will have the opportunity to send a resounding message of opposition to the Bush Agenda: November 2, election day, and August 29 in New York City. More than 360 groups — including Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, and September 11th families — have endorsed the August 29 protest and will be marching with us on that day. We will also be joined scores of prominent people, including Danny Glover, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., UNITE/HERE President Bruce Raynor and Congressman Major Owens. If you're alarmed by the direction that the Bush Administration has taken this country, and disgusted by the efforts to marginalize and stifle our calls for change, you will want to make your voice heard on August 29. To receive immediate notice of the final route for our march, subscribe to our email list. WE ARE MARCHING! On August 29, United for Peace and Justice will hold an impassioned, peaceful, and legal march past Madison Square Garden, the site of the Republican Convention. There are two key moments this year when people throughout the United States will have the opportunity to send a resounding message of opposition to the Bush Agenda: November 2, election day, and August 29 in New York City. Mayor Bloomberg and his Republican pals have already begun a fear campaign designed to keep people away from this historic event; we cannot let them silence us! We must redouble our efforts to make this legal and peaceful protest march as broad and massive as possible. UFPJ filed a lawsuit on August 18, seeking a court order to allow us to rally in Central Park after our march. (See news articles for background.) Until this lawsuit is resolved, we will not be able to announce the final destination of our march, or the complete route. However, rest assured that our assembly area will remain unchanged; we will still hold a legal, permitted march past Madison Square Garden; and we will not go to the West Side Highway. If you're alarmed by the direction that the Bush Administration has taken this country, you will want to make your voice heard on August 29. Already, many thousands of individuals and hundreds of groups - anti-war, civil rights, immigrant, religious, labor, feminist, environmental, and many more - are planning to participate in this demonstration. The Republican National Convention - and the protests - will be covered by media outlets around the world. It is vital that we bring the largest possible number of people to New York City on Sunday, August 29 to speak out against the actions and plans of the Bush Administration.
  2. Defn try to get your tickets in advance for $30....I don't think there will be many available at the door until much later and probably at a higher price. I can't wait to meet up with all of you cp's and listen to some awesome music
  3. At the same time, Im not really a democrat. But I can't stand the right wing, bible thumping, my or no way conservatives who if they had their way would make this country into a taliban like regime. With Iraq, yes Saddam was a bad guy. But Saddam was concerned about his own money and power NOT islamic fundamentalism. The countries around Iraq are just as much repressive if not more towards their people and some of these countries are our "allies"? Do you know they still behead people in Saudi Arabia for opposing their regime? Also Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are much moretied to hardline islam tha Saddam was. Most of these religous schools that still pump out terrorists are alive and well in Pakistan and most of the funding still comes from Saudi Arabia. If Bush was really concerned with fighting terrorism he would get tough with countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, who are NOT our allies, even though they have easier access to Bush than some members of his own administration. Regarding weapons, Im sure Iraq had some form of weapons but nothing that they could use to attack us with. Reagan had the right idea, when he let Saddam attack Iran. Why did our troops do they dirty work for Iraq's neighbors? You want to go after dangerous countries with WMD's....then we should have gone to North Korea, Pakistan, Iran. Also, again Saddam never attacked the United States...however Bush has just made peace with Lybia, whose leader admitted to blowing up a plane full of u.s civilians, just because that leader is now willing to open up his oil wells to U.S companies............ I am not a big fan of John Kerry, and he does flip-flop alot, and have never been intensely into politics.....however, I cannot stand George W Bush and I am willing to give Kerry a chance for 4 years, given what Bush has done
  4. The NYC club scene now is 100 times better than just two, three years ago.....when if you wanted to hear anything other than hip hop you had to go to a place like webster hall.
  5. That's like saying everybody that supports Bush are either trailer park trash or members of al-queda. The RNC is coming to my home city where people are against Bush by over 75%. I think I have a right to protest or walk where I want to. In my opinion a vote for Bush is a vote for al queda. Going into Iraq was the greatest propaganda and boost that al-queda could get to try to justify their evil actions to the world. Saddam Hussain did NOT attack my home on 9/11....islamic fundamentalists backed by countries like saudi arabia did. And this sad excuse of a president has done nothing to make us safer. I wasn't a big fan of Clinton, but I'll take a president who gets a blowjob from a woman over one that takes it from behind from saudi princes any day.
  6. can't go wrong with $1 all u can drink I will be doing the same
  7. Considering how much I dislike George Dumbya Bush, I'm planning on going to the only one I know of which is on Sunday @ 11am. Anyone else going or know of other protests? Thanks
  8. Can't wait till this Friday. Digweed will be awesome and thank god he is spinning in Crobar, not Avalon. Hope to see all of you there
  9. There should be no problem getting into Crobar. There isn't much of a dress code and unless its like 10 guys and 0 girls they dont care.
  10. Unless you're in the village or in chelsea that is defn not the scene in NYC. I think all you b&t r's are just jealous. I've lived in Westchester and I am now living in Manhattan......and Manhattan is so much better, I wouldnt even think about going back to westchester where the nightlife is completly DEAD and always has been.
  11. Hey I was at Avalon on Friday. Marco V and Jan Johnston were great and you and your group were awesome on the dance floor. It was good to meet up with you there, and would defn love to meet up with your group for future events
  12. Maybe next time Varitek should take off his catcher's mask before he wants to fight with somebody...... I'm not worried....Im sure the YANKEES will have retaliation planned for the red sox....what goes around comes around, right? But again, until the Red Sox can actually catch up to the Yankees in the division or beat them in a playoff series please don't say Yankees Suck.....because then what do you call the Red Sox?
  13. The Red Sux are struggling to get the wild card and are 7.5 games behind the Yankees. Until they actually catch up to the Yankees or beat them in a playoff series, red sux fans have nothing to say!!! It's also pathetic that the red sux have to throw at yankee players to get motivated. That coward arroyo is lucky he had his bitch Varitek go after ARod becuse Arod would have beaten the shit out of that little pussy. Too bad its not the national league where arroyo and pedro would experience the retaliation first hand. Even though the yankees lost saturday and sunday, we beat Schilling and beat Pedro, who I think is now afraid of the Yankee lineup. [1918!!!!!
  14. when did this occur? I've been to blvd a number of times and have eaten there.....and the service and staff are great. Im shocked this happened here and I hope the people who commited this act get what they deserve in rikers island.
  15. I got the same freakin letter....but didnt go that night. After the mess that the owners have turned that club into and the kind of crowd that goes there ...it would take a big dj....like dj's that avalon books... to get me to go back there......... and thats sad....because the place is huge and and can be the perfect club if it had the right management....... remember the old carbon.....those were the good old days
  16. All three were great, I just wish DuMonde came on a little bit earlier. I was there until around 6:30am. Shelter is a nice big space, with a decent sound system.....but they could do a better job of keeping up the place. Also, it's a shame that more people weren't there. I think the organizer of the event on the day of the sale said that the event was sold out on thier website.......but still......great night of music...and that's what counts the most The black guy in the front was awesome. Nice guy and brought so much energy to the floor.
  17. dj mike bugout......good luck its going to be one awesome night
  18. If you're looking for trance and house.......shelter and crobar are good tonight......... Avalon and Spirit are your best bets if you want a mix of "techno" and hip hop...but dont expect the vibe of SF or the great clubs of NYC past.......by the way, girls gone wild will be taping at avalon
  19. $22 was the pre-sale amount. Im not sure how much they are going to increase it by at the door. As far as I know there is no dress code for this event, and there usually isn't at Shelter. I'm going with two friends, but they are not into this as much as I am so they'll probably leave before me......so I would love to meetup with other peops that will be going here tonight.
  20. Anthony- Sorry for your loss. Your post was so true and I hope more people get the message. I was into a number of drugs until 2 years ago when my friend collapsed and almost died at a club in Toronto. The high is so not worth it......and in fact since that incident I have been clean I've had a much deeper appreciation for the music
  21. Hell No! Don't get me wrong house dj's like morillo and tenaglia still rock but nothing can fill me up with as much energy as a good trance set. Trance outside of NY is alive and well.....and its great to see Trance DJ's coming back to NY. Although, I do agree DJ's like Tiesto, Oakenfold, and PVD are getting way too commercialized, but I guess thats expected given their popularity. KTU is garbage. What happened to 92.7lir? A station like party 93.1 would do so well in the NY area. I can't wait for DuMonde @ Shelter. That will defn be fun!
  22. I own a RX-8....probably going to sell it since im moving into nyc but the rx-8 is a great car, and ive had alot fun driving it.......However, it is no M3. That car is by far the best on your list.
