  1. I go to Fordham @ LC as well and they have student housing for grad students on the upper east side.....its a bit cheaper but if you can spend 2400 a month you can get a nice one bedroom very close to LC, esp south of 60th and west of columbus.
  2. depends on what you are looking for.....if you're looking for bigger clubs with big name dj's check out crobar and pasha. Of the two I like Crobar the best and they have big names like Deep Dish coming up. Crobar is located on 28th btwn 10th and 11th. If you're looking for smaller clubs or lounges I would try Nest (saturdays), Rock Candy, Aer, Cielo, Duvet.............although there are many more. If you want I can email you the guestlist info I get for these places. Hope this helps and have a fun time in NY. P.S....I'll actually be in London the last week of April, so any advice you can give me of places there would be really cool....thanks
  3. I dont blame the cops for shutting the place down....I blame the immature morons who can't handle what they take and ruin it for every other clubgoer out there. Also, maybe Pacha needs to do a little more research and learn from a place like Crobar on how to run a line. Crobar gets the biggest DJ's and huge lines, but always manages to keep it under control. As a patron you always get in and you always get treated with respect by the bouncers.
  4. I've never seen so many people trying to get into crobar and my only complaint was that it was way too crowded inside...but tiesto was amazing....his set was on point and he kept the floor packed well into the morning. His set was so much better than the last time he was in NY. Also, I hope this puts to rest the argument about trance being dead in NY.
  5. Good to see this in westchester, esp white plains!!!
  6. my bday is also Nov 14th!!! can't wait....i will be goin to pvd on the 11th and having a party on sat and possibly going afterwards to crobar.
  7. I can only imagine the mess when PVD spins here in 2 weeks, hopefully the same bullshit doesn't occur or the organizers are able to change the venue.
  8. Then why are there trance dj's every week in new york spinning to packed clubs? EDM music in general, whether it be techno, house, or trance is on the rise in the states. Like the other posters said, PVD is an amazing Dj and I've had some of my best nights listening to his music. He deserves the award.
  9. didnt know she was that hot
  10. Defn have to agree with Marco V, Cosmic Gate, and George Acosta also. It's too bad with Dumonde.....they came to Shelter with Lange, and dropped an awesome set....even though there was not a big crowd and the venue was falling apart
  11. have to agree with bringing in....matt darey above and beyond blank and jones dumonde lange
  12. just a few of many some good trance dj's: armin van buuren (just spun at crobar), ferry corsten, paul van dyke, Tiesto, Blank and Jones some good house dj's to check out: deep dish, danny teneglia, eric morillo, carl cox, roger sanchez Crobar on Friday nights is always good to go to if you want to check out the music. The place is guaranteed to be packed and they always have good dj's coming over this coming friday: Ferry Corsten Friday after: Carl Cox Hope this helps!
  13. It was an amazing set and night. I've also seen Armin a number of times but this set was unbelievable. What a difference between crobar and spirit.....they went all out with the lighting and effects for armin...and even though it was incredibly crowded....the crowd was into it.
  14. If you ever wanna hear AVB...he spins a weekly 2 hr set on Di.fm at 2pm on Thursdays.....hopefully he'll play some of this stuff tom.night
  15. agreed. If you're looking for a big club enviroment the only place I can think of would be Spirit on saturdays...I believe DJ Clue will be there on Saturdays. Spirit is on 27th btwn 10th and 11th......otherwise like what was said by the post above me, small clubs like quo, pm, rock candy, etc.... would be your best bet.
  16. Last time Ferry was on at Crobar he came on somewhere around 1:30am, so I'm assuming 1:30-2:00am at the latest this time around
  17. I believe shadow is a hip-hop, reggae club......at least it was a few years ago.
  18. Can't wait!!!! Finally a monthly residency by a great trance dj
  19. Exactly, it's always great meeting new people who are into the music. I'll be there after watching the Yankees/ Red Sux game.......Is 12:30-1:00 by the back corner of the bar once you enter the main room a good time and spot to meet up?
  20. I will be there with a friend or two. Most of my friends do not like trance but there is no way I would miss AVB, even if I had to go alone. Let me know if you want to meet up or anyone else for that matter. Lately the lines at Crobar have been insane so I will prob get there early to avoid this. But still, it should be a great night.
  21. I agree with alot of what you said except the stmt that trance music belongs in europe or that dj's like avb have no place in America. Trance dj's like avb and pvd are packing clubs not only in nyc but in plaves like dallas, denver, chicago, etc. In fact one of the great things about the music scene in America, esp inNew york, is that I can go to crobar and listen to a great house dj like roger sanchez and then go back 5 days later to listen to a great trance dj like avb. So the only problem i have with your message is that you saying that trance music is unpopular or that trance dj's have no place in New York or America.
  22. You're the one that said Trance needs to stay in Europe and out of the U.S.A. It's totally fine if you don't like Trance music. But to say that Trance music doesn't belong in America or that it should not be here is retarded. If you don't like that type of music, fine don't go to it. But as long as Americans like myself pack clubs to see great trance dj's the music is here to stay in America, and there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. By the way check out the trance dj's that are lined to perform in places like Dallas and Chicago. It's amazing, Trance has a huge U.S following and is here to stay in this country. And to Prove it, upcoming Trance DJ's into the NYC area: Nu Nrg, Perry O'Neill Armin Van Buren Ferry Corsten (monthly residency at crobar) Paul Van Dyk Tiesto Also, unlike you, I don't hate house music or wish it away from America. I love Deep Dish, DT, Erick Morrillo, etc...and always try to make it when they perform, however there are alot of, in my opinion, crap house dj's out there like Boris and JP, and I would never go when they perform but again they have a following, and those people have a right to listen to those dj's perform in NY as well.
  23. like previous posters said, that's what has killed clubs in the past. Having hip-hop and r&b on your main floor can work and does in small clubs and lounges......but in order to pack a big club like Spirit, you need to bring special artists or dj's....and then you have to worry about overcrowding and extra security due to the fights, shootouts, and stabbing that result from it.
